Zos. Can we get some attn to REWARDING CONTENT. Not rewarding us for grinding.

I would love to see a point to doing vet dsa, trials, ect besides the acheivment. Because for 90% of us, the best gear we can get is crafted, or just bought from another player for cheap.

The rewards for HARD and CHALLENGING content.

( which the hard and challenging I give you huge props for, because its really fun)

However unlike single player stuff, the REWARDS are very inportant, or many of us mmorpg players find it a waste of time. We want to work toward a goal, improving our character, ect.

So far, all you have done, is reward GRINDING, by giving us the champion system
....... since grinding bosses, or farming mass enemies, gives more exp even with the craglorn spawn nerfs. ALSO... don't take this as a wish to decrease the spawn times farther. STOP nerfing them, and instead BUFF the exp from other sources. This is a mmorpg. Getting to max level is just the start, then comes end game content, if you wanted to make it different, making it so you scaled down depending on the zone you where in, (like in GW2) would help with that. However its not.

Not trying to rant on you zos,
however honestly. you nerf'd thing to balance INSTEAD of buffing other things. You give us a system that rewards us for grinding, because you have yet to buff other sources of exp. Then you still don't give us a reward that's equal to the pain we go through. And vet dsa..... oh that's pain... anyone who says its not hard. Is exploiting something that needs to be balanced. I would just like to see something happen. Honestly, a more in depth stat system and itemization would help. Don't know if its as simple as tweaking some numbers or something that has to be rebuilt.

I don't know if this is what you meant by "more in-depth stat system", but to be honest, they should just bring back the traditional attributes (Str, Agi, End, Int etc) to gear & leveling, and have some gear progression to incentivize doing the most difficult content (or doing well in PvP).

Both PvP & PvE should have better incentives (itemization) for doing them.

But I want a skill based game, not one in that better gear is worth more than higher skill level.

Champion System is already taking away from that.

Edit: We don't have to discuss this though - I know very well that ZOS is already going to bring seasoned gear.

They should bring in Arenas or BGs with leaderboards & matchmaking, and reward PvP players based on skill that way

This criterion rules out the whole MMORPG genre, doesn't it? Let's face it, If you want skill based games you have to look elsewhere.

Well, and there in lies the problem, the definition of MMORPG.

Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Grinding - oh, wait, it isn't GRINDING, it is GAME. WoW, FFXIV, GW2, et al are grinders, that call themselves ROLE PLAYING GAMES.

If you want to incentive grinding, there are games available. I think the OP wanted to be rewarded, but not for grinding, and there in lies the second problem - everyone sees rewards differently - public recognition, bragging rights, money, satisfaction in achieving a goal, etc.

Personally, I think ESO is doing an excellent job of trying to balance immersion into a RPG environment with satisfying peoples lust for shiny rewards. I personally would like to see a "HARD" mode available, and would play strictly for the self satisfaction of beating a boss, or clearing a dungeon, solving a problem or saving a town from an evil mage...

Absolutely! Murder should be incentivized across the board! I'm not sure how you'd make PvP more rewarding or how to judge "harder enemies", though. Maybe give more AP based on the number of achievement points the enemy has? Oh, that would also have the added bonus of encouraging people to do more content!! That might inspire a general culture of completion, one of those "we'll make our kills more worthwhile if you do the same for us" kind of things.

Yet, for me RPGs have always been about character progression; leveling up, gathering stronger equipment fit for my role to tackle stronger opponents.

Character (and gear) progressions are integral parts of the whole (MMO)RPG genre.
They might not be the part that you find interesting, but many people do and there's no denying they're part of the genre, and have been since pen&paper RPGs.

Usually when a game stops giving me more powerful items & gear (whether it's singleplayer RPG or multiplayer), it gets boring & I eventually end up either a) downloading a bunch of mods or b) quitting.

thats what i mean. With only stam magica hp. You can only do so much.
with str agi wisdom int will honor, ect you can do more. Even put higher stats on non set gear, then on set gear put lower stats but a bonus.

Great. theres darkfall unholy wars. If thats what you want. Fact is in a mmorpg we need something to work towards. Not saying amazingly overpowered gear. Im saying just at least slight upgrades. Either way because of the COMBAT SYSTEM. Skill is #1. Even if you have great gear, if you don't dodge and block when you need to, you wont survive.

How does it satusfy shiney rewards.
Most of us get NOTHING from trials, dsa, dungeons. Unless you want the 2 set helm and shoulders, the rest you can just buy off another person, or craft. Either way, farming the mats and buying or crafting, takes 1/10 the time it takes to actually get the drop. The game is far to rewarding to those who farm mats and grind. When in comparison it feels like actually doing the content isn't much more than for the achievement.

Apart from the original story line the whole game is a mindless grind.
Trials are grinding, Undaunted Pledges are Grinding, becoming an Emperor is Grinding. All looked upon as positive things by ZoS. In fact the top 3 official grinds are more like having a job than having fun.
Undaunted.-Monday, dungeon A, Tuesday dungeon B Wednesday dungeon cCetc then Monday, dungeon A... over and over again. Banging your head against a wall is more fun
Emperor--Zerg here, Zerg there, repair a wall, repair a wall, Zerg here, Zerg there, repair a wall hour after hour with little sleep unless you lend your account to someone else.
    Trials--press 1,press 2 twice, press 3 rinse and repeat.
