Cut out the fluff and that's exactly what it is.

I don't even care that they do this sort of thing (It's damned brilliant, from a marketing perspective).

I just get irritated when they do one thing while calling it something else.

@Tandor , yes, the cost is the same and the effect is minor, in the grand scheme of things.

But call it a financial loyalty reward, not a loyalty reward.

EDIT* I retract, as if not for the active subs that remained for the majority of the duration, there may not have been anything left to be loyal to.

I thought that was meant to be a special reward for those of us who actually remained loyal to the community from the very beginning. You know, "to ensure that we reward players who have been with us from the start", as the announcement says. Suddenly I am not feeling so special anymore.
How many people, out of the total pool of current or potential subscribers, are going to run out and buy up 300 days of subscription for the sole purpose of getting a cat mount? A mount, I might add, that is the odds-on favorite to be retextured and sold in the Store for $20 or less. 300 days of subscription is currently worth $150. That is one expensive cat mount.
I'm sure someone will do it, but if you take a moment to think about it... Other senche mounts will be available in the crown store (their icons are already in PTS code). They will cost far less than $150. Unless you really want to feel like a special snowflake riding a rare variety of senche, it's better to just wait.

Well its not like they are buying the mount for $150. They get the plus membership too. 1500 crowns a month etc.

You cannot because 6 month subs aren't available anymore. You'd need to have set up this sub beforehand so it renews automatically.

Redeeming a bunch of time cards is a possibility as well.
It's not as of today (just checked) but that doesn't mean it won't be added back in by March 15th. They already said that once it's B2P the 6 month option will be available, they just didn't say whether that would be on the exact day of the change or prior to it. IF they don't put that option back up until March 16th then Players would've had to pay for 7 months total and then buy the 3 mo on March 15th to get the Tiger. In any case, it's not an actual Loyalty Reward since there's such a gap in time allowed, it's a "Thank you for shucking out 10 months worth of Sub fees" in total reward.

    It does mean that.

No, what is going to happen is that people who are close to 300 are going to run out and spend money to add time now so that they get it. The people who are going to do this are already "loyal" subscribers in their minds. Nothing has changed except that (1) they get the mount, and (2) they are more likely to stay "loyal".
And it is a brilliant way to get people who started the game after release and were on the bubble to continue their subscriptions through a time period (March to post-console release in June) when they've stated there will be no new content released.

I'm glad that people who were so close but not quite there will still have the opportunity to get this reward.

There will probably be someone who does run out to buy a bunch of game time cards to qualify. There's one in every crowd. However I agree it's exteremely likely that we'll see more senche mounts in different patterns and colors at some point in the cash shop so no one should feel like they're missing out forever if they don't front load a bunch of game time now.
Happy All the Holidays To You and Yours!

Cool. More money for you to work with and more life for this game we are here for. You are a business after all, right?

When has it ever been anything else? I'm reminded of the guy who stopped playing a month after launch, but forgot to cancel his subscription (don't ask me how it's possible...) Upon logging in a few weeks ago, he discovered the Ice Wraith and Loyal Dwarven Sphere in his mail. Nothing personal against him, it's just a perfect illustration of what loyalty means.

    Great decision ZOS.

The 2 months I've been in Beta providing feedback, and the choice to buy Imperial Edition and start in early Access should be much more worth than the fact that I happened to miss a couple months in between.

I'm pretty sure I was more loyal than most of the people who were subbed for 10+ months. Thanks ZOS for giving me the chance to get the mount anyway. Greatly appreciated.

I think that this will appease more people than it will tick off, to be honest with you.

Don't get me wrong, the mount is great, but that was not the point. The point was the definition of "loyalty" being too exclusive, and the implication that you were not "loyal enough" if you did not meet that definition. That sat wrong with me and had the potential to cause divisions and other problems.

For example, my bug reports, detailed feedback, PTS time, and the uplifting inspirational commentary I make here in the forum are worth a lot more than a few measly days of subscription.

Essentially I could have paid for 210 days (that's launch up to Dec 2014), and then buy a 90 day sub on March 15 and still qualify?

    • The 300 days of paid time does not need to elapse prior to March 16th.
    • This time does not need to be consecutive.
    • The 30 days of game time that were included with the initial game purchase do not count towards the mount
    • Days compensated by customer support also do not count.
    • You must be an active subscriber when the game transitions to Tamriel Unlimited on March 17th.

Thanks so much for the clarification. I just set up recurring sub for another 3 months starting March 9th, which will take me to exactly 300 days :)

The guy I guess never heard of gametime cards.

Are there one year game time cards, or can you buy multiple cards and use them all at once to total one year? Sorry for my ignorance, I wasn't aware of this.

You can buy 60 day cards off Amazon.com. Buy 5 of em. You can redeem as many at a time as you are willing to buy.

To the people saying you could buy 300 days on march 16th and still get the reward... that isn't even possible. There aren't even 6 month subs anymore. The most you can get is a 3 month sub.

    Hey there everyone,

To clarify, the information that was posted in the Road Ahead article is correct.
    • You must have paid for 300 days of game time prior to March 16th in order to qualify for the mount.

Interesting. I wonder if game time cards count. We need... more clarification! lol

Time cards will definitely count, as that's a valid way of paying sub (and how I paid for my first 240 days); considering how they work, buying five and redeeming them all on March 15 would give you the 300 days you need...

Edit: In fact, today is the extreme example of this situation. Someone who buys ESO today, along with 5 time cards, will start their 300 days on March 15, meaning they will have paid for their 300, only 2 will have elapsed, and they will get the mount along with 298 days of ESO Plus benefits.

For someone like myself who took off for Christmas and came back in Jan..someone who will miss the 300 mark by approx 10 days(provided they don't count the first free 30 days), This is perfect. All I must do is purchase a small bundle to compensate for those ten lost days.( a small bundle that I would surely pay for per month regardless if the senche tiger mount wasn't offered.) Thankyou ZOS. :)
