One of the things I love most about ESO and Skyrim is the extremely minimalist UI, the last thing I want is to see boxes all over my screen as so often witnessed in youtube videos from players, therefore I don't use any and so far at VR3 have had no reason to. If I was really into PvP then maybe. Still I think it's excellent that ZOS allow them to be used for those that find them invaluable.

It's actually a misconception that all add ons will clutter the UI. The ones I use are for quite the opposite.
I use about 30 add ons, and this is literally how my game looks:
    wVUWp8r.jpg
I use an add on that removes the enemies health bar unless I am in combat. Wykyds full immersion lets me turn the compass transparent. Combat reticule to remove the crosshairs. And Azurah lets me push my own attribute bars to the bottom of the screen and everything else off to the edges of the screen too. You think not using add ons means minimal UI, then you obviously are not very minimal.

Yeah, I've made this one of my pet peeves as well - I would like to play with as little clutter as possible but still have all the information the cluttered UI's have. I know it's insanely nerdy but I like fiddling with my UI :P

I took a few more screen shots while farming in Alik'r to demonstrate how the add ons I use make the UI more minimal:

First, nothing happening, almost no UI at all with a transparent compass:
    aJOgQuW.jpg

Next, riding a horse, you can see the attribute, but I have it set to 50% transparency, and notice the weapon on my back. Thanks to Pinkiller, the pin on the compass will not appear over objects or on doors:
    XLCuF9L.jpg

When entering combat, you see small crosshairs popup on enemies, and the action bar, but no health bars:
    SLGnVgm.jpg

In combat, now you can see the enemies health when you look at him. Also, my helmet/hood appears:
    vrG9nfs.jpg

When farming, notice the small circle crosshair which indicates the item can be interacted with. This small circle is almost the exact same size as the sneaking eye when it is closed:
    TQ982M3.jpg

And last, auto loot with lootdrop to tell me what I picked up. Any junk gets destroyed by Dustman:

FTC, but the only thing i really need from it is an indication whether that ballista bolt fired from 3 miles away hit that wall or not. If the default UI had this hit/miss feedback for siege, i could do without any addons.

Awesome, I'll have to take a look then, to be fair I've not given them a glance and have only seen the one on the YouTube vids which seem to clutter the screen with DPS boxes, floating hit values etc, thanks.

Huh, maybe it's worth downloading and playing around with then. Every time I see a screenshot or a video of someone using it I cringe because of how much I hate things like the scrolling text and numbers flying around... It would completely destroy any enjoyment I get from the game. I didn't realize that you can turn off that kind of stuff though, so maybe it will be useful for me without being annoying.

I have probably 90% of FTC turned off. The health numbers on the mobs is what I use and nothing else.

As dedicated crafter, research assistant has been the most important addon during all this time. I can't comprehend how anyone can play this game without it. I would literaly use half of my gaming time just swiching between inventory and crafting benches without this addon. Really, HALF OF THE TIME I SPEND PLAYING.

I have to ask, people who do not use addons, do you spend half your time figuring out which traits you already have or do you just not craft?

I have my laptop open and made an excel sheet. So if i play i can see which traits i need and which i don't. I could even print it out and place it in front of my monitor. No addon needed.

Shees, some people are so lazy. I remember older games where there was no map at all and i drew them myself on a piec of paper.

I too had a spreadsheet for crafting at first. Then I got smart with Research Assistant.

It's not about being lazy, it's about using the tools available to you. Unless you still hand wash your clothes instead of using a washing machine, call or travel to every retail store to find the best price on something instead of using the web to find the prices in seconds, or [insert modern marvel here] then you probably shouldn't call people lazy for using addons.

    BankManager.

Inventory management in this game is an absolute nightmare. It is easily the single worst inventory UI I've used, made even worse by the sheer number of crafting materials available. BankManager at least makes mules easier.

AdvancedFilters would be a close second, for the same reason.

Great thread. I picked up tips on quite a few add-ons I wasn't aware of, and will at least try. I have about twenty active ones now. Two of my favorites, sadly, are no longer supported (downside of add-ons), CraftStore and Luminary-Teleporter.

I miss this add on so much. It takes 2 or 3 addons to replace the functionality of it. I knew what I needed to research, it showed me the Racial Style in a Tooltip in the inventory screens and not some icon I had to interpret, it showed me what I had in inventory that was going to be researched, it had a horse and research timers and I could teleport to the crafting station I wanted all from one screen.

I could never pick one... I use 22 right now. Would be 23 but I haven't been able to get MoveAllItems to work for me since two or three patches ago. I really miss that one! The beauty of it is CombatCloud aside, none are very noticeable unless I open them up. No reskins, things like LoreBooks, SkyshardMap, LootDrop all blend in nicely.

Out of the ones listed; Destinations is all I use. I have it turned on to show forgotten Skyshards and where M'aiq was.

I quite like the MailR one, since it make's correspondence's easier. Obviously. There was one I am on the fence with that changes guild chat to show character-name instead of account-name and provides timestamps on everything, but it looked a bit clutter-y?

I have some stuff coming up for Advanced Filters, too. Some new button textures are being worked on by another person and I've added subfilters for plain clothing and fence items. It'll be released when 1.6.x gets pushed to live :)
