Will you be dumping your Spell Crit and Weapon Crit gear in 1.6?

We've also got Champion stars (I hesitate to call them passives, just so I can differentiate) that provide armor and spell resistance penetration, but I don't remember seeing one that increases attack speeds. I really feel that weighted might be an advantage for dps. I could be wrong, I'm not a leaderboard player and I leave the math up to better folks than I.

The problem with weighted (and attack speed in general) is that it only effects light and heavy attacks, and it does not reduce animation times or have any real effect when clipping.

I really think they should change the weighted trait to a damage boost (weapon damage/spell power) rather than the haste effect. They've already gotten rid of all other sources of haste/attack speed in the game, weighted is the only one left.

They do have reinforced for armor, it would make sense to have something for weapons.

Lets say you have 3 Sets, each giving 8% crit (4% twice, each set), total of 24%.

    Pre-1.6: 0% base crit + 24% from gear = 24% before skills/pots/etc.

Post 1.6: 10% base crit+ 12% from gear = 22% before skills/pots/etc. plus a new system exists that didnt before (Champion) which can add around 9% from the initial 70 CPs you get from 1.6 before you actually earn any. Potential is therefore 31% + skills/pots/etc.

    24% vs 31%

    How was crit nerfed again?

Might I direct you to the Original Post where it was inquired as to whether the nerf to crit FROM GEAR made using a different set of gear preferable.

Might I direct you to my reply... oh wait, you quoted it.

The base Crit goes from 0-10.
Therefore, the crit from gear barely changes *in effect*.

And that omits the champ system and buffs. Happy now?

Yo dawg, i heard you like to crit, so we gave you 10% base crit on top of 12% champion point crit so you can crit while you crit.

Actually, OP, Willow's Path is more awesome than ever on 1.6, thanks to the removal of soft caps on regen. Stamina and magkica management is so much easier with this set!

OP here and the Crit from gear barely changes if you consider going from 4% to 2% for a single bonus to be a small changes. Before 1.6, the base Crit stat and my 3 piece Willow's Path set totaled 4%. In 1.6, they now total 12%.

Is it beneficial to dump that remaining 2% from the set in favor of one that will contain Spell Damage or Magicka or Magicka Recovery or Health instead? The consensus so far seems to be "Yes!"

I'm not saying "No"(or "Yes") is an invalid answer as it seems too early to state until we have more evidence. Swapping out three pieces of gear is very simple and inexpensive since I have plenty of upgrade mats. If I do go after some new gear, my old gear will be tossed into my bank thanks to all of the freed up inventory space I will have in 1.6.

I only lose out if I craft new gear and somebody discovers afterward that neither Crit or my replacement are the optimal stats to pursue. Fortunately I think I have enough gold and mats to deal with that contingency.

It's not about what your total critical hit chance is in 1.6. It's about how much of this is determined by gear.

Willow's had a 4% crit. Now it provides a 2% crit. It DOESN'T MATTER if this loss can be made up from other avenues. What does matter is the set in-itself no longer provides the amount benefit in 1.6 as it did in 1.5.

I won't be dumping Crit gear for PvE in 1.6. I still have 48.1% Crit on my Magicka DPS NB and 43% Crit on my NB Healer (without the new 12% Spell Crit in The Apprentice). Once I gain the additional 20 CP I will actually have MORE Spell Crit than I do now, yey.

My PvP gear never did rely on Crit so the only change there was I added more Impen and over all survivability, no big deal.

Spell crit for me was primarily a way of generating ultimate, so I'm going to seriously look at spell damage gear instead now that ult generation has been nerfed through the floor. My twilight and willows sets don't look so attractive now, and just as I had made them full legendary as well.

crit from gear is so low now that I rather look for other options in gear that give overall better damage or benefits to my build.

I stack critical on the pts without the passive from champ points and before they fixed the 10% base crit and was sitting at 42% crit. So with the the passive and the critical base working I can take precise off my weapons aND put more damage. Not to mention there are passive In the champ system that give more critical damage. So I will be stacking critical still.
  • mauritius.krebsb16_ESO
i won't drop it, hunding's/ashen grip are still the way to go on my dk even with reduced crit.
sitting at ~61% weapon crit when dualwielding daggers on my dk which is more than what i could have gotten before. that's still with the thief stone though.

Will definitely be experimenting when I am able to play my character again on PTS. I am thinking of trying to stack spell damage, see how that works... then try spell crit... and see how that goes.

Yup, dropped all crit gear and moved on to heavy armor shield stacking

Heavy armor shield stacking eh? That doesn't sound too efficient.

well i yesterday finaly looked on my trial sta dw NB at PTS and was litle scared.... my crit went from 63% without pvp buff to 41% (5x HR 4x AG, 3 two fanged jewelery a 3 assas ibilite sloted)... its nice we have pasive proc for whole goup increse crit dmg but how help it when everyone have crap crit chance now.....

I dont look on wpn dmg closer but my flurry on PTS have similiar dmg (or lower) then on live at this moment its look as huge nerf for me.

and dont find any medium set which offe more then actual combo for me
Adraria Argentum Draco - imperial Stamplar
Bevdyen Tus Ntxhuav - Orc Stamplar
    Celestun Ira Dei- Imperial Tankplar
    Halldis Rautt Höfuð- Nord Tankplar

That is because they reduced the overall critical from gear. You can get Major Savagery buff from certain abilities for a permanent +10% and another 12% when you unlock 30 points in Ritual Constellation.

So no your character hasn't been nerfed. You just need to get 20 more champion points and adjust a bit your abilities. You can thank me later.

this. had they not changed crit chance from dexterity and sets i'd be sitting at 84% crit chance when dual wielding and that is as a dk. couple that with the crit dmg skill in the champion system and you can see why they had to change it. now that doesn't change that dexterity nerf is questionable as 3 skill points for 4,6% crit chance for 7/7 isn't appealing at all so i still think there should be some kinda compensation in form of another little bonus.

Seems like stacking weapon/spell damage might be the new meta considering that you can't crit the damage shields every magicka dps build is running with.

I currently use three pieces of Willow's Path which has a 4% Spell Crit bonus. With that bonus now reduced to 2%, I am thinking about replacing that gear with three pieces of Cyrodiil's Light which adds Spell Damage instead of Spell Crit. Any thoughts or opinions out there?

Actualy, the critical value on the tooltip is incorrect. A Yellow piece of gear only gives 1,6% critical chance...

Thanks for that info. Now I have even more of a reason to ditch my current gear.
