Horses 1.6

In clan chat someone was talking about how we should buy three versions of our Imperial Horses and feed them once of each kind of food before 1.6 to make sure we get each stat in our post 1.6 horse. Does that make sense to anybody? Are horses going cash shop only post 1.6?

Hope this helps, its a previous discussion.http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/147296/question-about-mounts-and-new-riding-skill#latest

Also: your previously purchased mounts are available as skins ( think disguises) for all characters to use.

The brains at ZOS have decided to allow horses to be sharable among your characters... they are changing the skills of the horses from their attributes to your attributes as a rider... so I'm kinda hoping I can get my monies back from buying 8 horses, but I doubt it...

    Yes, this makes sense.

Here's how it works. Let's say I have two horses right now. One has 50 speed. The other has 50 carrying capacity.

I go over to the PTS server (1.6). I open the horse menu. I activate any horse I own, does not matter which one. That single horse will now have 50 speed and 50 stamina. I switch my horse to the other one, and that horse will also have 50 speed and 50 stamina.

So I'm running around in a pack horse (50 carrying capacity) that also happens to have 50 speed (really fast!). The same applies to stamina. You can now get one mount that has all three skills maxed.

Ok, does that mean we can still max out all three attributes Post 1.6? Or is it limited to Pre-1.6 horses/characters?

Yeah, so... post 1.6 a player will have something called "riding skill"... I think. It's either that or "mount skill" which sounds slightly dirtier than it should

Either way, the upgrades your horses used to get are now character upgrades. Speed, Stamina, and Carry capacity can be upgraded on a player. Each of these start at 0 and can be upgraded to 60.

On live, each horse is limited to hitting level 50, but that mechanic is gone from 1.6, so you can upgrade until your speed, stamina, and capacity are all at 60.

Also, on PTS the system bugs out and eats everything your horse is carrying when you log in, sometimes.

I would love clarification upon this as I never had much Gold so... spending 40,000 really drains the coffers, especially since I bought one not knowing about this coming change. I'd rather not have a mount and instead get one from the crown store if this is the case.

Well, the good news is horses are now account wide. So, if you bought one of the 40k horses, you're set for all your characters once the transition kicks in.

Also the 17k horse is going to be 10k after the change, so there's that.

So whatever is the highest level I have Speed Stamina and Carry to now on each of three horses will transfer to my character's riding skill? And all characters will still have the opportunity to level these to 60? Have they stated how we will level these three skills? Does our character have to eat oats/apples/wheat now...?

Yes, all combine to one new skill line on that character.
You still pay 250gold at the stable to level a stat. Its not oats etc, its ....wait for it.....wait for it....speed, stamina or capacity B)

So that IS how it is supposed to work?

Wth happened with mine then :(

I had 8 speed and 8 stamina and 0 capcity.

I have about 5 maxed out horses over different characters, the highest speed horse is 50, the highest stam horse is 20 and the highest capacity horse is 30. I was expecting the change above but gave me 8/8/0.

    Am I missing something?

So one more question - do we still have stable slots? I have three slots and three imperial horses each working on one of the three attributes...they all get merged after 1.6 right? Do we still need all these slots we bought? Like for cash shop horses maybe?

Did you log ALL your characters in? It appears to build this kinda stuff from you actually logging in the character. For example, my new test char did not get Champion Points until I logged in my main.

    Where is new content? Sigh.

What happens if I have two horses on two different characters on the same account that both have speed? Do I get my gold back that I spent on feeding the second speed horse?

    I see.

I logged into 2 of the characters. But my stats on the horses were still well below the horses that were already available on them. I sent in screens to ZOS on it already, but I'll give your suggestion a try.

I wonder if this means we will be refunded for buying extra stable slots. Not that they cost that much or that I need the money. But people might appreciate a small gesture of goodwill.

It's not per account, it's per character. So your character with the 50 speed horse should have the speed riding skill = 50.

How do you access the horse menu now? It is from the interface that comes up when you press the ALT key? Do we even have to visit a stable to level our mounting/riding skills?

No, you still have the 2 horses. Anything you've put into them to improve their abilities is what is merged. So regardless of which horse you choose to use, you'll have all of the speed of the light brown horse, and all of the capacity of the white horse.

That's assuming you only have the 1 character. Horses are now account-wide, but the increases to speed/capacity/stamina are on a per-character basis.

You have two horses at present on your character is that what you mean?
You will have a riding skill of the top stats ( capacity from imperial white, speed from Gaited brown) combined on one horse. If you levelled them your capacity of 60 and your speed of whatever ( dunno as I never spent for a speed horse) it is transferred to the horse you're riding. You can choose which look or skin you want to ride at anytime from your tab in inventory. Click it to go White or change to Brown while out and about.
You still spend 250 gold to upgrade them once a day.
You can only ride One horse at a time.

Huh? How so? The points you've put into horses on character A become character A's riding ability, and the points you've put into horses on character B become character B's riding ability. Nobody should be losing any inventory. The horses become account-wide, but the effects of the upgrades (including the basic +10 upgrade from buying a better horse) are transferred to the individual characters.

You may still have more than one horse, and choose to use them to level a different stat each day to give the one you ride more skill. I wouldn't plan on any refund. Later you can use " Groom" in the constellation to feed two helpings a day.

Well it's per character, so we probably don't have time for that, we might get past horse level 20, but we won't get to level 50.

The plan so far for release of v1.6x is Mid March, plenty of time to level a new steed. Good luck!
