What if I have three white horses (each with a different stat maxed) today? After 1.6 will I still have three? Can I delete the two I don't need anymore?

Well it's per character, so we probably don't have time for that, we might get past horse level 20, but we won't get to level 50.

The plan so far for release of v1.6x is Mid March, plenty of time to level a new steed. Good luck!

Can't actually afford it, just bought the Daedric Motif, and am now working on Dwemer Motifs (I actually found one at last) and I am spending my cash when I have enough for the next chapter (done it twice now, only have 2K and it's unlikely to get above 8K as by looking around I find new chapters I can buy).

But thanks for the info, and thanks for the wishing me luck, I can always use more luck.

so a newbie, thankfully not me, will take instead of 50 days to get a "fully" upgraded horse. Take 180 days instead?

to max out 60 in every stat? wow :)

Well...lol...I suggested to guildies they choose a stat that is important to them and level a new horse before release. Those that are rolling in dough are leveling 3 new ones. So getting prepared so to speak. That's expensive, the fourth stable slot is 1000g and 49x 250g x 3 would be too much for some of us.

Do spend time in dwemer dungeons, relog often you'll find those chapters. I needed a full set for 2 characters and its doable. Same as opening lots of desks for those rare motifs, hours of relogging and searching. But so rewarding!

You will probably be able to get rid of them, unless they look different, then keep them.

Seriously. I'm wondering if there will be any perks to having previously bought multiple 42k horses.

The riding skill is per character, so if it's one horse per character then you will keep the skills per character. But if you mean mulitple horses per character, only if you have maxed them out for different skills.

    Otherwise, no not really.

Idk how they calculated the capacity change, but my horse can now carry 148 items, up from 100.The color change is aweful though. Used to be a nice full brown, now it's white with brown patches? I guess that can be changed later. I didn't have time after DL'ing the patch to screw around finding out how to change that.

The way I read it there was supposed to be, but the way it looks right now on the PTS there is not. Don't know if it's intentional or a bug though.

Edit: except you do get to choose the appearance of the horse of course.

the perk is that you had fun with have a 42k horse for this long, and had the adventures it brought along with it.

for me, if its the same for everyone else, im happy for the people that couldnt afford it, they will have an easier way getting a mount

I can still remember the pain of the first char, getting bank upgrades, upgrade item bag, and I was so lucky I could buy the 1g horse as well, could imagine the long gold grind to get that first one also on top of everything else would had been hard.

Also you get those 10 extra ranks of riding skill on the character that has the 42K horse. At least that's the way it was explained by ZOS - I haven't yet tried out the PTS to see if that is truly the case.

It is NOT the case on PTS currently. You don't get the extra bonus from having the 42k horse. Waiting for clarification whether that's a bug or intentional.

Yes, you do get two bonuses. Your riding skill starts 10 stats above a person who buys an Imperial, PLUS you get the black/chestnut/whatever skin account wide.

<edit> Also to clarify. If you have a 42K horse maxed out currently, you are at 60/60. Under the new system, your riding skill is also at 60/60. People with maxed out Imp will have to spend 2500 more to get UP to 60, as they maxed at 50.

You've tested this on the PTS? I won't get a chance to until tonight, but according to @Slurg it's not working that way (although from my understanding it is supposed to work that way). Like many people I've got a couple of level 50 speed horses I can check it on later...

Right, I logged into PTS to check my horse stats and the 42k horses did not show the values I expected. There were some others that reported issues as well.

One thing I did not try was 'activating' the mounts from the menu to see if that made a difference. Will try that when I get a chance to log in again and see if that makes a difference.

Also noticed if you have a pack horse, you lose the extra inventory on the PTS until you activate that horse. And you lose all the items over the character cap.

What PTS are you playing on? I go to the stable on my low-level Imp horse guys, click the stablemaster and the gal tells me I have 0 speed, 0 sta and 50 storage. On my main, I click her and see 43 speed, 10 Sta and 50 Storage, just like a combination of my Black and Imp horse on the main server.

Could be a bug that's affecting some accounts, but not others. We've already seen examples of bugs that don't affect everyone (like the infamous bank bug, which interestingly was also related to storage space).

We are talking about about the 42k horses with the higher base stats, not the imperial horses. The higher level horses seem to be behaving differently than some of us expect.

It appears part of the issue is the stats cap at 60 on PTS so if your highest stat is over that it's over the cap and it doesn't count.

I haven't purchased a new horse on PTS yet but some others have reported those stats have been reduced now.

My storage alt had 147/150 in inventory with a horse. On PTS she had 100/100 on first log in, which went to 100/150 when I activated the horse from the collections menu. Don't know where my other 47 items went.

Glad you're sailing along just fine with your imperial horses.

    Yes, this makes sense.

Here's how it works. Let's say I have two horses right now. One has 50 speed. The other has 50 carrying capacity.

I go over to the PTS server (1.6). I open the horse menu. I activate any horse I own, does not matter which one. That single horse will now have 50 speed and 50 stamina. I switch my horse to the other one, and that horse will also have 50 speed and 50 stamina.

So I'm running around in a pack horse (50 carrying capacity) that also happens to have 50 speed (really fast!). The same applies to stamina. You can now get one mount that has all three skills maxed.

So that IS how it is supposed to work?

Wth happened with mine then :(

I had 8 speed and 8 stamina and 0 capcity.

I have about 5 maxed out horses over different characters, the highest speed horse is 50, the highest stam horse is 20 and the highest capacity horse is 30. I was expecting the change above but gave me 8/8/0.

    Am I missing something?

Yeah, the horse stats are for a character, not for the account. The horses themselves... as in the mount visuals are account wide now, but...

I've got a character with two level 50 mounts. One has speed 41, Stamina 15, and Capacity 21... I think. And, another that has Speed 16, Stamina 11, and Capacity 50.

So, when I log in on that character, her horse skills are Speed 26, Stamina 5, Capacity 50.

I've got another character with a Stamina 31 horse. When I log in on them, they get Stamina 21, but they don't get capacity 50, and my characters with werehorses don't get stamina 21.

Finally, that +15% speed, and +10 stamina that was baked in to all horses is now gone. And the bonus 10 points that three of the horses gave are also now gone, but you can upgrade all of the stats to +60 now.

I am curious as to how it will affect our carrying capacities, since it sounds like most of my characters are going to be losing 50-60 inventory spaces.
Huh? How so? The points you've put into horses on character A become character A's riding ability, and the points you've put into horses on character B become character B's riding ability. Nobody should be losing any inventory. The horses become account-wide, but the effects of the upgrades (including the basic +10 upgrade from buying a better horse) are transferred to the individual characters.

Really, thanks, I'm just worrying, might need to calm down and avoid overthinking it.

Well... if you want to worry... on live right now, horse inventory has a nasty habit of blanking, wiping everything in those slots.

@Slurg and @starkerealm. You guys both /bug (ged) it on the PTS right? Its the only way to guarantee it gets on the list to be fixed. Even if it is just a perception thing, which, after reading your followups, its not. And the more bug reports, the higher the priority to fix. Its why we are on PTS, not really to optimize our builds.

Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

<edit> Also to clarify. If you have a 42K horse maxed out currently, you are at 60/60. Under the new system, your riding skill is also at 60/60. People with maxed out Imp will have to spend 2500 more to get UP to 60, as they maxed at 50.[/quote]

So this means that newbs should not bother purchasing the 42k horse pre 1.6? Since people who buy the 17k horse will only have to pay 2500 more to get up to the max level of the 42k? That just seems wrong.

I believe so. I've filled out a couple bug reports on PTS already, so I might have missed that one, though.

Great change. Very irritating to have to unload my inventory into the bank to swap to a fast horse for PvP.

Well.. add me to submitting a bug report. You guys made me look. My Black on live is 61 Speed and 20 Stamina. It only uses 46 Speed and 1 Stamina from my Imp horse on PTS.
