Sorc - Power Surge is useless

I'm trying to figure out why someone would want power surge, which buffs both weapon and spell dmg. It seems anyone who would take this morph is only interested in the spell dmg portion of it, therefore making the weapon dmg useless. They should replace the weapon dmg portion of Power Surge with SOMETHING useful at least.

Much agreed here, I don't even play a sorc but this change makes absolutely no sense.

If ZoS had made split 50/50 hybrids viable, that'd be another story. But as far as I can tell, such hybrids are generally not.

In which case, please just remove the weapon damage increase and tack something with even a remote benefit to caster sorcs on there.

Yes they actually made hybrids less viable by making destruction/resto staff scale on spell power now.

Honestly, I'm not sure it was even intended for hybrid builds to be viable, as unfortunate as that sounds :-/

Kinda puts a wrench in the whole play how you want idea.

Both morphs should give the heal on crit element and then one morph is spell damage and the other is weapon damage.

    Simple and balanced.

The thing is, it seems they wanted the heal component to be a choice. The fact that they've split the morphs between stamina and magicka just kinda screwed that aspect over.

If ZoS is willing to let go of that idea and just accept that Surge and it's morphs must be tied to a heal for them to be used, then all would be gravy, simple and balanced indeed.

I just don't get how they don't give Sorc ANY stamina costing abilites, yet make it so our bread and butter for sustain (crit surge) is only useful for stamina abilities.

Yeah I was REALLY confused about this as well. I thought EACH class was supposed to get 3?

Again I'll state that I don't play a sorc, but damn it seems the class is getting royally screwed over in this patch for no reason. Most of us know by now that sorcs don't need any nerfs currently, quite the opposite in some cases.

The change to crit surge is unacceptable. You take the ONLY viable class specific healing spell which is COMPLETELY reliant on combat anyway and significantly reduce its viability? It is absolutely ridiculous.

ZOS please fix this. This change may seem trivial, but to a lot of sorcs this fundamentally destroys our build and significantly decreases our viability in anything but 1v1 situations.

I have 2 sorcs, one is a traditional stick and dress mage, the other a 2h/bow/pet "daoc hunter" build. The changes are great for my "hunter" sorc and terrible for my "mage" sorc.

The problem is that they introduce a lot more railroading with the new class abilities than they used to. I thought that the stamina class abilities would have been a third morph choice added to the class abilities instead of limiting elements.

Yeah, Crystal Shards and Mages Fury should each have a stamina morph, I guess they counted the Dark Deal, Bound Armaments and Surge changes as the Sorc stamina options.

Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT
