So F2P and B2P only difference is that you pay a onetime upfront fee...
Yes, that is literally the difference between F2P and B2P. I'm glad that you've now figured out that it's B2P and NOT F2P.
fact is ESO is F2P because they cant go back and give our money back for buying the box...
Oh wait, no, you still don't understand it... The fact is that ESO is B2P but you've already bought it.

Well, Age of Conan is called f2p and it works THE SAME as it will work ESO.

You can just download Age of Conan and play it right away.

For ESO, you will have to buy the game first.

ESO will be "F2P" once they milk the Xbox and PS4 users... then they will be like wow we are making all our money on the "F2P" store, lets give the game away and call it "F2P" its the same darn thing you guys are delusional if you think B2P or F2P is different when talking about the "game play"

Then LoTRO is B2P as well, wow and it got so much stick for being F2P it lost the greatest MMO award...

    Nah, I doubt it.

The Secret World has been Buy-to-Play for over 2 years now, after stepping away from the Pay-to-Play model.

ESO will likely sustain the box price forever, even if it will be lower and lower over time.

There's also still the fact that new content is not free.

I think it's wrong to consider a game Free-to-Play solely on the basis of whether it's possible to log in and "play" the game. Having to pay for new content one way or another classifies as something else than flat out Free-to-Play.

For Age Of conan it started the same, then the boxes were in the shops by 5€, then nothing. The whole model works the same, EXP and etc if you are subbed, you can buy things from the shops that will not make you be better, blocked zones if you are not subbed...) it is the same.

Dont let these ESO fans know that all these "B2P" games really became F2P when they called it B2P, they dont want the F2P stigma on their game.

You may be angry but that doesnt give you the right to act like a dumb. If you didnt like the Zos decision try to challange/protest them. Trolling in forums is just damaging the people who are trying to react against Zos's decision.

Call it whatever you want. F2P or B2P --- This is something they had in the works from day one. They can not release a console game for normal price and then charge a monthly fee and then also, tell the people on the PC, guess what you paid the same price, but your paying 14.95 a month. Plus the Console is getting the same content, updates and options.

It's business. Businesses make more money off the ADD console players and non MMO games, like COD then MMO's going against WOW.

The only saving grace for me IMO is this is not true F2P. There is an initial investment. Guild Wars has made a better than average game with a large user base. ESO, should be able to do the same. BUT, only box sales will tell the truth.

If we don't see the B.S armor in the store like RIFT. Then we know they are not going Vegas on us. You need to buy the armor to run the raids to hopefully get one piece of armor every 200 raids... Then we know it's good. But If I see them doing the same RIFT B.S.... I will look for another game....

    Any suggestions on upcoming MMO's

The OP is totally wrong, but then ZOS have wrong-footed the doomsayers by going for the B2P option rather than the F2P option so I suppose there's bound to be some in denial.

Oh so you pay a one time fee for a free to play game and all of a sudden its ok for a game to go F2P

You buy the game in order to play it, after which you don't have to pay anything if you don't want to, it's BTP.

You install the game by free download, after which you don't have to pay anything if you don't want to, it's F2P.

Which part of that do people have difficulty understanding? The game is going BTP, not FTP.

ESO will still require that you purchase the game, but it is no longer necessary to have a subscription to play. There are many perks of premium membership, however, which are detailed here.

Debating semantics is unnecessary and not terribly constructive, so we are locking this thread.
