Huh. Where does this "made with hero engine" splash come into view?

All I ever see are the Havok, Bethesda, and Zenimax ones.

When I downloaded the game it popped up and flashed my very quickly with the Hero Engine logo during installation.

I've heard it was the hero engine was used to make ESO and I've heard that is wasn't.

I know they licensed it but did they use it or a variation that they made tinkering with the code?

I'm not asking for any particular reason just out of curiosity... I like to know what the devs used to build the game.

I did noticed when re downloading the game recently it pops up with the Hero Engine name and it got me thinking.

    Anyone have any idea?

really guys? did you see the big giant "HAVOK" logo? lol
the havok engine , or havok helped them build a custom one.

I'm pretty darn sure that havoc only deals with character physics. For example, when playing beta they never had the Havok logo until they added in contact with NPC's and it started to show up when getting in the game.

This is correct. Havok is just the collision detection tech in-game. Nothing more.

Actually, someone said that they do not use it in the game client. It is used behind the scenes either on the server or for something development related.

I'd like to welcome many players to the reality of game development. Most mmos are a combination of custom and licensed systems. ESO is no different. It is a combination of systems put together to make a whole. Some custom and some licensed/bought.

Hero engine has had a bad rap largely not part of their own fruition. Swtor used a very old and incomplete effectively free version to start their game and it limited their development. The current, complete Hero Engine against what Bioware used is like comparing Windows 8 to Windows 98. The current and evolving Hero Engine is a pretty solid engine. To what level ZO used Hero Engine is up for debate but even comparing ESO with a game like Rift which also uses Hero Engine (likely to a far greater amount) clearly shows massive differences. Even that is an unfair comparison because we don't actually know how many assets from Hero Engine actually take part in the current version of the game.

If one's stress derives solely from thinking Hero Engine sucks then you should educate yourself on what really "sucks" when it comes to software.

Rift actually uses Gamebryo, the same one engine used to make DAOC if I remember correctly.

I believe you are correct. So ignore example. Premise stays the same.
