@Kaer426 pointed this out in the crafting section (I'll let you find the thread), so I was wondering, how many of us realised that our stocks of ingredients might become utterly useless? (I know I didn't)ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »...
By having ingredients sourced in clear ways and using combinations of food items instead of tiers of ingredients, we will be able to cut the number of ingredients in half while still providing just as many recipes as we have now (if not more). This will require most, if not all, of the existing recipes to be changed to accommodate this new paradigm.
Our current plan is to replace existing recipes and Provisioning items with the ones from the new system, matching quality as much as possible. Any additional unused basic ingredients from the previous incarnation of the system will be changed to “stale” versions of themselves, and we’d like to include some way to offload them that provides value.

But the last part that wasn't bolded was, "...and we'd like to include some way to offload them that provides value."

I copied it direct from the crafting thread, that last bit wasn't included in the discussion, I'm not sure what the method of unloading it is, maybe just selling en masse to a vendor?

What we need is a list of people this next patch is not going to annoy in some way

Lots of people participated in that developer thread and presumably read those words. I did. I'm not getting upset and raging about it though (yet) since I haven't seen exactly how it will impact me. I suspect most people who are aware are reserving judgement until we see how it is implemented on the PTS.

And, in the ESO Live on provisioning, they said that the old ingredient would still be useful. Dont start a panic on this too.
Personally I'd think the best thing to do would be to convert the unused ingredients to equivalent new ingredients. For example, if pepper is still used in the new system, but salt isn't, all of the salt in your inventory would become pepper (maybe not the greatest example, but you know what I mean).
Having said that, if it means fewer varieties of ingredients in our inventory, I'm fine with turning some types of ingredients stale and letting us vendor them for a fair price.

I think you young folks (assumption) need to realise there is a whole range of emotion between 'Happy' & 'Rage'.
Depending on how this plays out I could be anywhere from 'Happy' to 'Mildly Irritated'. I can't see how it could cause 'Rage'.
To save me reading the whole thread - does anyone know what will happen to existing created food?

It gets converted as do recipes, so using up the ingredients might be the best option, or possibly not

Well it's impossible to make that evaluation without knowing the details of how the replacement will work, and how the offloading in a way that provides value will work. Without knowing those things, you'd just be talking out of your ass if you said that it was a bad decision. You wouldn't do that would you?MercutioElessar wrote: »ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »...

Another crapload-of-*** decision.
