How many people noticed that our food ingredients will go stale

My guess will be, new ingredients will be as rare as noricrux or whatever that is called.

Does anyone have a list of the ingredients that are planed to go stale after the update?

If not can a DEV release one so the player base can use them up before the patch.

As I see it the only "value" potentially would be selling off the Food/Drink created from the soon to be stale inventory before the update hits.

I'm going to find out by loggin on to the PTS as soon as Update 6 is deployed there. That will give me plenty of time to make any necessary adjustments.

Just like when FCs were removed from the game right? ;)

Some things never make it to PTS....

EDIT: Edited the price that old ingredients would sell at - they are, in fact, selling for the exact price it takes to buy a new ingredient. We apologize for the error.

So, assuming the current vendor sale prices do not change, this means that all of our old ingredients will sell to a vendor for 63 gold (or so) as that is what it costs to buy them.

Neat. Time to turn on autoloot.....

Can't say I'm shocked. ZoS' mo with this game is pretty much changing it to make whatever you've worked on have to restart and allows newer players to catch up or pass you on it. Doesn't seem to be of much use to "build" in this game as they come along and knock what you are building down and make you start over.

What part of this revamp favors newer players?

    1) Existing recipes replaced with ones from the new system.
Seems like the advantage would go to those who have been collecting recipes the longest.

    2) Existing Provisioning items will be replaced with ones from the new system.
Same as above, advantage to those who have been collecting and leveling Provisioning longer.

    3) Drinks will now work in conjunction with Food.
Again, advantage to those who been doing Provisioning longer and collecting Drink recipes.

    4) New VR10 Provisioning recipes.
Since only those who have put the time into Provisioning to reach level 50 will be able to make VR10 recipes I would give the advantage to those more experienced in Provisioning.

What advantage will someone new to Provisioning have?

It was the simple fact that they make all the ingredients go stale. That's quite a bit different than making old food go stale. So a "new" player that has never gathered much won't really be any different than a player that has a couple stacks of all the rare ingredients (since they will be stale).

Also, I noticed they added VR10 food, that was weaker than current VR5 food in the example they showed. They also required new rare ingredients. So those current recipes that are just being converted are actually being nerfed as well.

Drinks working with food were an idea and not one they said was actually happening that I saw. If that's changed, please link me, because that is better news. But in the provisioning thread they had for the longest time, they said multiple times it was an idea and they had not decided what to do to make drinks more useful yet.

It takes really no time to level up provisioning, so the only difference really is the amount of ingredients one has stocked up on. I already addressed why that would be an issue.

Now, I'm not saying this stuff is the biggest deal in the world. But it doesn't mean it's not still annoying.

Edit: thats what I would have said before reading ZoS' response. I'm glad to see they aren't making ingredients that are still used stale. The rest is expected anytime they expand a system.

But only the ones that are still being used to create a new recipe in the game (even if it has a new name), not the ones they are getting rid of... because those would not be being replaced with a new ingredient, right? lol

Ya, you'll have to sell them to a vendor for 1gp per stack. watch...

I assume it'd be 1 gold a piece. How else would you sell, let's say 66 pieces? We'd get 0,66 gold for them?^^

    (Btw, I consider a "stack" 100 pieces.)

Same way you could sell 100 arrows in Morrowind for a set gold amount, or if you wanted to go through the pain of selling them an arrow at a time, the minimum gold a vendor could give you was 1g ~ thus 100g.

I doubt it will be worth it in the grand scheme of things. It will be to make space, not $.

I know, but the text I quoted said 1g per stack, not per piece. So we couldn't sell just half a stack.

Btw, in Morrowind there's a trick, instead of moving the slider to the amount you want to sell and clicking ok, you can hold the ctrl button and sell them single-wise muuuch quicker ;)

Right, but we will be able to sell stale ingredients to grocers for same price as the ones we might have to buy to replace. The ingredients part seems fairly handled.

Well based on the ZOS explanation that would be awesome.

Your Provisoning ingredients may be going stale, but they won’t be useless. The ingredients that will no longer be used will be clearly marked as “Old”, and they will sell to vendors for gold. We’ve set this price to be exactly the same as the cost of buying a new ingredient.

Based on your prediction we will be able to buy complete stacks of useable ingredients for 1 gp per stack. :D

If they ever create a Legendary recipe it better contain bacon as one of the ingredients. I'm just sayin'.

Careful with that.. since this update also includes the Justice System and stolen hot goods. Depending on how its implemented, I may have to turn mine off for the first time since the early open Betas.

I meant before 1.6 rolls out.

Of course this all depends on what the old ingredients do sell for. I don't have to replace all the food I sell with food I buy...

Currently the PTS 1.6 shows that items that will go stale all sell for 10 gold each. So a stack of 100 sell for 1,000.

ESO... IS the 10 gold each a set in stone price or will that price change when it goes live? It seems that all ingredients are 10 gold (even ones you can buy).

Probably just a default price until they make their minds up, I can't see them leaving it as a flat price for everything.

A lot of the ingredients converted to other ingredients and the ones that did not had a pretty good value selling for junk, I am sure somewhere out there is a conversion chart already, just have not had time to look for it. I had a lot of ingredients on my copied over toon to the pts.

    Apparrently intended...SURPRISE!!

They originally stated foods and drinks would stack and the unusable ingredients would sell to the vendor for the same price the new foods were selling for. Awesome.

That was just a tease to get people to look forward to the changes. The reality is that food and drinks won't stack and you will only be able to sell old ingredients for less than 7% of the value of the new ingredients.

The good news is that most people will probably need to make new armor sets. I imagine if you vendor a complete set of your current gold quality VR14 gear, you should be able to buy at least one new shiny carrot.

If they ever create a Legendary recipe it better contain bacon as one of the ingredients. I'm just sayin'.

There was another trick in Morrowind, where you could set the price of whatever you were selling to the carried gold of the merchant and then just spam the sell button until the god of dice favored you. Then you could wander off with a terrifying amount of XP and cash, and the merchant's disposition would reset the instant you left dialog.

They will go stale, but they will also sell. So if anyone was smart, they would find a nice crate/barrel farming spot and just farm those ingredients until 1.6 is out, then sell them for mass amounts of gold. I'm already looking at a good 5-10,000g just from emptying my guild bank of stale ingredients.

For those wondering about 10g for old ingredients. I did a comparison exercise in this thread to see how much 10g was to the average player price for same ingredient.

Summary below but rest is in original thread.
    MY INGREDIENT INVENTORY
    • 47 ingredient types turn old
    • 2733 individual ingredients turn old
    • Is worth 268778g according to Price Tracker
    • Is worth 54790.4g according to Shopkeeper
    • Is worth 27330g according to 10g each from ZOS

ZOS VALUE OF MY INGREDIENT INVENTORY OF 10G EACH IS:
    241448g less than Price Tracker
    27460.4 less than Shopkeeper
Equivalent to 10.1682% of Price Tracker Value
Equivalent to 49.8810% of Shopkeeper Value
