Where does it say "I Promise" to anything? I keep seeing people say they were promised these points for playing the game.

I cannot believe I am even defending this. "Promise" notice the quotes. It is statement. Synonyms for promise:
agreement / assurance / commitment / guarantee / obligation / pact / pledge / vow / word / affiance / affirmation / asseveration / avowal / betrothal / bond / compact / consent / contract / covenant / earnest / engagement / espousal /
insurance / marriage / oath / parole / pawn / plight / profession / security / stipulation / swear / swearing / token / troth / undertaking / warrant / warranty
promissory note / sacred word / word of honor
Pick one if it helps you understand better. ZOS said one thing and did another. Any court of law would agree. False advertisement. If the TV said you would get a free burger at X fast food spot if you showed up by noon. You get there at 11:30AM and they tell you, "Sorry, we are not doing that right now." You'd be up in arms and threatening lawsuit for false advertising. A court would agree. You'd get paid. (If you think that is not true, some guy just settled with Red Bull for millions because he drank it and didn't get wings)
Get over it and see this for what it is. Players are mad because they were "mislead". They paid their dues and they want what was "insert synonym for promise here".
And for the record, I have ONE V2. Don't even know what difference the CP make to me as I haven't gotten any time off work to even log in. This point is made because I am tired of the ignorance people continue to display.
"Mom - his toy is better than mine!" is not what is being discussed. Did ZOS mislead the players. YES. Should they make it right? YES. Will they make it right?---Chime in anytime ZOS.
Edited to add the original quote about "I Promise". WAIT, I promise to leave this alone if you just agree with me.

it occurs to me there is not one "promise" in the ZOS comments.

I can only speak for myself, but for me it isn't about being further ahead of new players or anyone else. It's about several other things that have been mentioned in this forum many times now. At this point, people who really can't understand what the problem is are a mystery to me.
Let me try to take it out of the context of this game and put it into a hypothetical context you might understand better. So you go to college or university and are ready to graduate. Then the school decides that your four years puts you too far ahead of new first-year students, so they do two things. First, they take away your four years of achievements and grades, and say you have to go back to first year. Second, they say they will award every student credit for one semester to make sure all grades are "balanced." How would you react?
Yes, this is a hypothetical, but it illustrates exactly what ZOS is doing to people who have played this game for, in my case, nearly 10 months. The principle illustrated by the hypothetical is exactly the same as what is happening in ESO.

I'm sorry you feel like you spent 8 months playing a game and think it compares to 4 years in college. If they were not totally redoing the mechanics of the game I would agree with all of you, but they are essential giving an expansion away for free, It Won't Take The players that have a firm grasp on the games mechanics that long to find some way to quickly jump out ahead of the fresh V1 players.

It is in NO way the same as an expansion. You can compare it to an expansion like this :
WoW releases a new expansion up to level 110 (it's 100 right now with WoD), but doesn't put any quests up to the new cap. Find a way to level by yourself, scrub !
THIS is an accurate comparison to an Xpac...

Except the people who are VR14 are the ones that have given them the most money and usually politicians tend to listen to the people that finance their campaigns, especially in countries like the US.
Edit: Oh and people who are casual gamers(and aren't VR14) don't care about being as powerful as raiders and would proly welcome the free CP points they don't even deserve, so I don't see how giving to each it's own would make people unhappy.

- New armor sets (1.3): When Zenimax skillfully changed all the most popular armor sets making most of them useless: If you had legendary armor that just became worthless: buck it.
- The Undaunted Noob Enhancer(1.5) : When someone thought it was a good idea not to award people for their Achievements in regards of undaunted skill line XP. Got all Achievements already? Can't level up the undaunted skill line? No problem braaa, you'll just have to do the dailies to get to max level while people who haven't done any achievement get it in two days. Because that's fairness
Zenimax Online Studios now brings to their prefered console beta testers:
-Champion points XP tracking? We lied, what you gonna do?
A delightful new episode in the series franchise where once again, people who trusted Zenimax, people who listened to the comunity managers, people who believe in fairness, get once again [sniped] in their [sniping] [snips] while noobs and people who don't play the game get special treatment and faster advancement possibilities.
You haven't been subbed to the game since day one? You have been cheating on TESO with other single player (yuck) games? You haven't been loging in every single day to play? The game has bored you so much that you haven't even reached max level in 8 months? FEAR NOT! The Zenimax commie machine is here to help you and give you outrageous advantages over the people who have been loyal to the game since beta, who have been playing non stop and who made the terrrrrrrrible mistake of believing Zenimax would ever implement a fair system in one of their game changing releases.
This new episode of the saga will be sure to contain legendary proportions of: epic rage, epic "we don't give a flying fart about our community" and most of all (but not the least) we will comment on your posts where you ask us questions we don't answer to tell you to ask those questions in a more Civil way.
Welcome to the latest episode of "The Elder Commies Online", where you don't need to work hard to be on the same level of people who do and if you do work hard, you don't get any reward out of it. Be sure to tell your friends about it.

As long as you have 1 char VR1 in your account, you will get credited 30CP. Nothing more, nothing less.
So this means that after lying to us in order to keep people playing the game instead of unsubing and waiting for Champion System, Zenimax has done it again, giving the middle finger to the people that have been the most invested in the game and favoring the people who haven't.
Thank you Zenimax for this Xmass present, just made my day.
It's not like you could have awarded points from 20 to 100, giving 20 to the players who had nothing (and don't even deserve those 20 points), and capping to 100 the number of points to give to people who listened to you and kept playing their VR characters so that they feel rewarded fo

I understand that, heck I understood it days ago, but this is pretty much exactly what ZOS is saying isn't going to happen. So on that basis (30 CP or nothing) as I am one of the hated "casuals" I am saying that I would be much happier with 0 CP and less rage on the boards than 30 CP and a place where civil debate gets drowned.
I can't speak for others but if a more direct conversion is impossible then maybe a binary situation (0 or 30 CP) might be a way through.
Since the main complaint seems to be from people who've completed all quests (and apparently don't do any other content... what the hell have you guys been doing since you've done all the quests then?), they might be able to give out CPs based on the quests (converting the EXP rewards into CP) you've done. This should already be tracked, I think, seeing as a lot of stuff are based on what quests you've done.
It also has the benefit of laughing in the face of grinders.

I've been wiping in SO, I've been gathering Herbs for trials, doing an occasional undaunted pledge ...
I have not been playing as much as in the beginning though, and that is parr of the problem for me. They are erasing more than 2/3 of the xp I earned and expect me to do it all again. But I really don't want to level an alt and do everything again, why should I? It's a game and I want it to be fun and not repeat content all the time.
All the lost content that people have done can easily be replaced for the purposes of gaining new CP, if ZOS actually balances XP gains correctly, but people are just assuming they will get it wrong.
Seems to me that if wiping in SO awarded more xp (which im sure they could find a way to do), then you would be happier.

Just one very silly question, maybe I have misunderstood the whole way ESO works. In what way exactly someone who has 8 VR14 characters and doesn't even go for a p**s so not to lose a single second online, has paid the most money?
Are they required to pay double for their subs? I have been paying my own sub since launch, pre-ordered a very expensive physical copy way before launch, I am still subbed to this very day. And yet, I only login for a few minutes, and occasionally play a little bit my very "noob" lowbie characters (my 2 vet ones are "retired").
Yes, I am such a "horrible" ESO gamer, I should burn to ash. Yet, looks to me that ZoS has gotten the same money from me, if not more (and early on with pre-ordered copy and long sub).
I may dislike the game at its current state, but do you think ZoS "hate" someone like me? They get their money, even if I am not a very "loyal and satisfied" player, but hey, really... not "loyal"? How come someone is "loyal" and "worthy" just because they are online 24/7, for their own reasons (and why anyone should care about)?
These arguments are laughable at the very least. You have every right to be disgruntled with things, and I am too, but if you really think a popular game that could possibly have millions of players (and subs) is all about the "pro elitists", you just got something wrong in your book.
That is all, a personal opinion from a clueless "nobody noob" (that has been paying and thus supporting this game for 8 months now).
Those people you are belittling maybe have more RL responsibilities than you do, but as they pay the same they are just as valuable to ZOS.Ninnghizhidda wrote: »Except the people who are VR14 are the ones that have given them the most money and usually politicians tend to listen to the people that finance their campaigns, especially in countries like the US.

Most of the people playing since start have a vr14 char, which means they have been subed for longer. Moreover, people playing the most fill the game with their presence and make the game feel alive wereas the people who pay and don't play are just irrelevant and don't deserve to have free stuff they didn't work for.
If you can't grasp this concept, you're prolly just one of the persons hoping to get free stuff you don't deserve.

I don't see a problem with that.
I find it perfectly ok that I don't "deserve" luxury yachts & sports cars like professional footballers (FYI football=game, in fact anything competitive=game), and there's no reason why same analogy shouldn't work on video games also.
If you don't put in same talent, effort & dedication as someone else, then you don't deserve as much as that person. Plain and simple.

IMO that analogy is itself pretty laughable, but that's just me.
Funny that society values footballers more than scientists.

So you find it unfair that those people who dedicate much of their lives on their passions get rewarded more than you? Or what do you mean by laughable?
Also, if you're good at a certain field of science, you can expect to get more recognition & rewards than people with "whatever" attitude.
Here is an interesting article touching on the competitivity of science: https://explorable.com/competition-in-science

Sounds like you would demand recompense for such an effort.
I think of such people as the dregs of society.
Edit: Oh and people who are casual gamers(and aren't VR14) don't care about being as powerful as raiders and would proly welcome the free CP points they don't even deserve, so I don't see how giving to each it's own would make people unhappy.

I have a family, work 39h a week, work on a side project to get my business going and somehow still manage to be at the top of the competition in this game. Don't confuse time to play with skill.
