From the looks of the last updates, the people working on the game right now are not the ones that wrote the original game code... and it shows...

I am pretty sure that this is not the case.

I think that what you are seeing is fatigue in combination with developers going into stuff that they haven't seen for a year and reworking it.

Maybe, but something is seriously broken.

With the last few patches it looks and fells a lot like the left hand has absolutely no clue what the right hand is doing/changing and vice versa...

Oh, that's a pity, I was looking forward to this.
I can understand the decision, though.

Hours of what? Grinding mobs to get more XP?

I'd rather have more content to actually play. But that's just me.

I agree with OP here too. Update 6 looks more like a reworking of current content but doesn't really add anything new. Thats not to say it's not a good update because, frankly, these changes have been a long time coming. But it's really looking like the next actual new content update won't be live until late Feb or March.
For all the players that aren't happy with the current state of the game, now is a good time to take a few months off and wait and see how things actually pan out. Let the players enjoying the game beta test the updates until the content you want arrives. There are heaps of other great games out there to keep you occupied until then.

In my opinion it was a mistake to let players only gain Champion XP past 50.

Provisioning Overhaul, improvements to fishing, changes to combat and abilities, more abilities, and a new UI for vanity items is coming aswell. The update is big but honestly it doesn't warrant no new PvP content like Imperial City. They could easily fit it in, with Spellcrafting in the next patch.

If they do that, then I would be overly pleased.

Well, Blizz takes months for a minor update so I don't know what these two things have in common ;)

The issue many people seem to have is the way how ZO releases updates, as for what is in them.

If we look back the past 8 months then there was zero pvp, zero solo pve, zero RP if we exclude dyeing and crafting is also still not really improved - reworked.

What 1.6 however will offer is a Champion System that doesn't let you play but forces you to grind as there is simply put no place where a VR 14 could go to to experience a new story while earning xp for said system.

I am lucky to have waited with the Cadwells, so that I have two big zones still to go through but the others are either forced to farm dungeons or Craglorn mobs - not a pleasant journey if you ask me.

In the eyes of many ZO should had done a better "content handling". Releasing raid after raid and dungeon after dungeon doesn't serve the purpose, players want other things in an MMO, especially ESO.

Even Blizz realized this by now and cut down the raid supply in their new expansion.

Raids and large scale group content in an instance is a niche but ZO treated it as a "must have".

    In my opinion,

ZO is doing all they can but you see their inexperience in MMOs sadly. Right now ZO is about 6 years behind development but so was Wildstar and it bombed badly.

Warhammer was a wonderful game so was AOC but the potential in both games wasn't used and I believe people who experienced both MMOs are afraid ESO could become one of them.

To add to what Gyudan is saying (with whom I completely agree), it's not only the lack of content. It's the lack of meaningful progression.
As his signature also mentions, crafting is way too easy. You have BIS gear in a matter of minutes nowadays. The few useful pieces that are dropped are so RNG-y you just don't bother after a while, since the gain is too small.
What use is farming like crazy for +100 dps when you can already do more than enough to finish all the available content?

They did a really good job delivering content, but they failed making it last.
You clear the Serpent and have zero incentive to ever set foot in there again.
Sure, the sets can be nice, but why bother? They are so extremely unimportant that you just don't bother anymore.

Don't even get me started on the Arena.

Face it, carrot on a stick or not, MMOs need to incentivize repeated playthroughs. Even more so sub-based MMOs.

EDIT: And don't you DARE mention the new shoulder/head pieces.
It's the Diablo 3 fiasco all over. Let's add the ability to only get one piece per day, and make it completely random. GENIUS.
No, scrap that. It's even more screwed up than Diablo 3, at least you could grind your eyes out in that game. Alone.

TL;DR: Loot system is trash, no incentive to do end game, no meaningful progression.

P.S: I will gloriously DELETE (Not even deconstruct) all those pesky Aether pieces I keep getting. Serpent, you can graciously shove them where the sun don't shine.

Are you kidding me? REALLY?! "thats it"?!

Do you even realize that massive scale champion and justice system alone take up? ZoS is literally going back and changing nearly every possible thing in the game, and thats not enough for you?

Champion system completely changes combat, it goes back into character progression and pretty much re-writes the entire thing, thats not enough for you?

Justice system goes through almost every interact-able object in the game and changes its drop table, it changes and adds dialogue for almost every NPC in the game, and you say "is that it?"

Not to mention the new provisioning revamp, armor changes, new abilities, and combat animation enactments.

There is 46 pages of patch notes, 46 pages and you want more?

The OP was actually talking about Content, you know things to actually do!
You can only run from the guards so much!
Re-writting the progression system does no good if you have nothing to do with it. Currently there is no carrot to encourage the re-run of the few Raids or Dungeons we have, PVP is completely broken.
All this would seem to be giving is a huge update patch, an almost re-writting of the game that will no doubt bring months of headaches and bugs.

"You can only do X for so long" can actually be said for any type of update. This update I think is targeted more towards a different demographic then what we might be use to. This update (to some) could keep them preoccupied way longer then any dungeon / quest line / zone could of kept them. This is something a solo player could do, if they add another dungeon, AWESOME! But this would be the second content patch that didn't have some major update for players who group (first one being update 3, where they just got a hard mode of the trails) if they don't introduce new dungeons.

It also will give players who have fun just messing with builds a ton of hours worth of content (and major blow to our banks) where we can test these new builds out.

I am all for them adding more then what they have stated, but by no means is this content going to be used up by every player in a couple of days. Most of my friends I use to play games with wasted more time on these side activities then anything else in previous games.

The "more than 30" refers to the amount of pages typed down in a regular office software, not on the forum. Did you think they were just making a big post like that directly using the "new discussion" tool and making the lists up as they go?

I tried copy/pasting the 1.5.2 patch notes. They add up to 67 pages, 16,629 words in MS Office, Calibri, size 11.

God, ZOE has spoiled some of you guys. You know that there are people who only manage to get a few hours a week to play who still haven't finished all the content that came out at RELEASE, right? The is an abundance of content in this game, and each release has included quite a bit of new stuff.

Finally, a much-needed gameplay overhaul comes along, and of course here comes the fury that it doesn't include Upper-er Craglorn.

On my list of what I actually care about in 1.6
    1. Champion system
    2. Complete rework/review of all abilities. Desperately needed.
    3. Pie implementation (yes pie :sunglasses:)

See how short my list is? But in reality I'm VERY excited for these (assuming they do it right).

Champion System - Enhanced player customization? Sign me up ZOS! To my knowledge there is going to be nine trees, 3/3/3 split up into Health, Magicka and Stamina. You invest points into these trees to customize your character further, and earn Champion points by "leveling up" your character. I believe all stats get x10 alongside the Champion System so the decisions we make feel more meaningful.

Complete review of abilities - Do I even need to list how many useless / under-utilized abilities there are currently, for both PvP and PvE? So many abilities need some love, or the nerf hammer (looking at you DK Scales). Plus if I'm not mistaken there may be some PvP special abilities added in with 1.6 to handle zergs (not positive on that one though, may be later). Very much looking forward to being able to effectively use abilities that I'm currently ignoring because they're straight up bad.

Pie!!! feed meh! - Pretty sure this is 1.6 as well (hope so!). Not sure if you saw the ZOS vid with Paul Sage explaining pie but essentially everything in the game is going to be thought of as a pie. In their example they demonstrate your physical armor rating as a pie. No longer will abilities be able to fill in stat-voids that your character may have (looking at you cloth users!). It's pretty hard for my brain to explain it but I'll take a stab at it (or look at this thread http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/136702/how-the-champion-system-is-a-complete-overhaul-of-game-numbers/p3)

    Theoretical example provided by Dominoid
Physical armor rating pie is comprised of
    1. Buffs (Abilities/skills, passives, potions and food) can contribute 30% to your total armor rating
    2. Type of armor worn (Light, Medium, Heavy) - Light contributes 8% to your total armor, Med is 16% and Heavy is 24%
    3. Champion System can contribute up to 24%
    4. Five-piece set bonus can contribute up to 5%
    5. Shield contributes 5%
    6. Trait on armors (Reinforced) contributes 4%
    7. Enchants on Jewelry contribute up to 4%
    8. Weapon enchant defending contributes 2%
    9. Mundas stone effect can contribute 2%

So using those numbers if I'm a DK wearing light armor, using full impen trait using Destro/Resto staff with 5 piece Warlock/Seducer, using magicka cost reduction enchants and sharpened weapon trait, with Apprentice mundus I will basically get
8% of the armor pie from my armor worn
Lets surmise 30% armor from Abilities, etc.. because DK's are OP.
    and nothing else.

So a total 38% armor compared to someone else who may choose to use defending trait, or wear heavy armor. In this pie scenario there is no way to attain higher armor than someone who uses heavy armor. Simply put if I choose to wear light armor instead of Heavy it WILL impact my armor rating. And most of the time someone using Heavy and investing champion points into armor rating will be much more survivable to physical damage.

Can't get any more excited for this man. I think you're underestimating the awesomeness coming early January (not soon enough). :sunglasses:

Sadly is the CS worthless without a new content patch that adds an environment where players can do quests to gain the necessary XP.

As it stands right now, a player who finished Cadwells has no other way than grinding mobs or dungeons for XP to raise his or her Champion Level.

Even the biggest hardcore nerd will be tired of that very fast.

While I agree with this statement for the most part, I do have a quibble to add. Players can complete the repeatable city quests in Cyrodiil to earn XP and Champion Points. Those quests may not be new content; but you can easily complete one city's quests and a Fighters Gulid bounty quest all within an hour. You can rotate them and complete one city a day so as not to burn you out on them as quick.

Like you, I would much prefer to have a new zone (hello Wrothgar!) in which to earn the XP and Champion points. Until then, I will make do with what we have and be as unhappy as everyone else.

See, this is the exact reason why the forum mods don't want to communicate with us. This company has done something that no other MMO is doing. Offering updates every 6-10 weeks. And all you people have to do is complain that this isn't enough. This update is going to be HUGE. Whether the casuals like it or not, this is a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE RPG... Keyword is MULTIPLAYER. if you run out of quests and stuff to do when the people who are playing with other players, which is what these games are intended for, are busy trying to advance and having fun doing so, then this game has succeeded. MMO's are not designed for soloing, if you want to play alone go buy a ps4 or xbox 1 and leave my MULTIPLAYER games alone.

Usually I don't respond to posts like these but man, you casuals are getting really annoying. And personally if you don't like an MMO because there isn't enough single player content, well then quit. Because these games are never going to be designed to fit a single player but the player base as a whole. Sorry to break the news

There isn't really any content but there are two new systems that will improve the game.

Is this what I expected when ZOS promised "DLC like updates every 4-6 weeks"?

Hell no. Based on their original promises, Craglorn was going to be in at launch and we should already have the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood (not to mention console versions.)

But even though they clearly over-promised, they aren't behind other MMO developers with the size of their updates. They're just behind their own over-ambitious goals.

I think the Justice System is a good step towards more of a sandbox game. IE. it isn't "content" in the traditional sense of something they make and we "consume" or play-through. They're giving us the tools to make our own "content."

Justice system is repeatable. You can spend time stealing and evading guards (or conversely hunting outlaws) for months and months and the interactions will be different every time.

It's the nature of PvP. PvE is the same every time. PvP (because it's player driven) is dynamic and unpredictable.

The ideal scenario for me with this game would be for ZOS to fix Cyrodil PvP, add the Imperial City, add Justice System PvP, and add dueling. Those 4 things could keep me busy for years and years.

On the PvE side of things, I'd like for them to: A) never increase the level cap again or add new gear tiers B ) Release new story content like the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild [or expansions that explore stories in new areas, like Vvardenfell] C) If they release new dungeons/gear, make them horizontal rather than vertical [ie. the gear does things that other gear doesn't or looks different, but isn't objectively better or worse.]

They need to take more hints form the SP TES games and less from WoW.

If Zeni didn't make such a balls up of the game for release they wouldn't have had to waste so much time and resources fixing the game and changing core game elements. These resources and the time could have been spent on better content. If they had of listened to beta testers telling them the game was no where near ready for release, the game wouldn't have copped so much flack for such a bodgey product.
