The obscure list

First off so nobody gets the wrong idea from this let me state that I have mostly been a big fan of ESO from the start. I have not been that happy with some elements but by and large I think ESO is a great game and improving with each patch (after they patch the patch). That being said there are some serious [snip] elements in this game. I'm sure most of us are aware of the obvious ones like the no AH argument but I'm wondering what some of you think are some of the more obscure [snip] elements. Two that are topping my list are the collision system and heavy bags.

I remember soon after release when they announced the collision system like it was some great addition that everyone was clamoring for but I have to ask..who the hell would ask for this collision system? I guess I could see a justification for it if it worked in PvP scenarios but it doesn't so [snip] is the point of this? The only thing this does is get you stuck against NPCs in every narrow hallway, doorway and between every object in the game or cause you to screech to a halt while sprinting on a horse and encountering a collision NPC. It's nothing but aggravating and has ZERO upside. It doesn't add to immersion in any way. Why would anyone want this and why was it added to the game in the first place?

As for heavy bags I just wonder why even have them? They almost never yield anything of any value so why are they in the game? Do we really need another random trait dispenser to give us common, worthless trait stones? Don't we already have like 800 of those? I thought heavy bags were supposed to be like treasure chests for crafting mats but it's about as far from treasure as you can get. I would value worms and grubs more for fishing than the crap that comes from those bags.

What are your [snip] elements in ESO that you would like to see removed/changed/fixed?

I like heavy bags. They sometimes contains 2x traits or aspect runes. Better then hops and strawberry ***.

Yeah it's pretty rare to get something good from a heavy bag, but what's strange is the Heavy Trunks in coldharbour, which only yield the one node worth of material.

Sigh. Maybe 'almost never' for you. But it has given me Kutas and purple/blue tempers. Does it really matter whether or not they're there? I mean there are a lot in the game that we could live without, but they're there to add something (however worthless they may be - i.e. many armour/weapon merchant vendors that sells items with no traits). The game is not forcing you to interact with things such as heavy bags if you don't have to. Just avoid it if you don't want it, gives other people like me that can potentially get tempers we can use.

[snip] moment why is it i can run through lava and melt yet any enemy npc can stand directly in it without injury(i'd love to see some using terrain to advantage)

[snip] enemy health reset upon death. seems stupid as hell. i get it makes them reset for the next player to derp along to it. but it makes the point of soul gems kinda dumb. im gonna redo this same fight 4 times til i get it right with virtually no penalty.

[snip] element: human bosses being able to take a small scale army wailing on them and not even flinch.

[snip] why are all bosses and large enemies immune to everything!!! whats the point of skills having effects like snares bleeds knock back stun etc if they dont work!!! i personally think they should up damage on bosses to make it more risky but at same time let us use our skills to the fullest on them.

I'm happy for you that you seem to be so lucky but I have been playing this game since early beta so I have opened enough of them to have a solid experience with the average rewards. The number of times I have gotten anything of value from them I can probably count on one or two hands and I must have opened up thousands of them.

If they are going to put a treasure chest like element in the game at least make it give something valuable often enough to make it worthwhile. It doesn't have to give a Kuta every time but why not at least a green temper or something marginally useful/valuable? Those trait stones are mostly worthless garbage that just fills up your bags.

I could say the same about the writ rewards...no writ reward should ever give one jade stone as a reward. That's silly for a quest reward and especially one that uses up so much useful material.

Yeah, collisions aren't very well thought in questing/leveling part, because that part was written before collisions were implemented. However, collisions make end-game dungeons more challenging. You need to think on your positioning/resources because you can be just blocked in a corner with no stamina to dodge roll from some nasty AoE.

Agreed. Those are some good points. I have more than a few times knocked a mob into a spike trap on the floor or something similar hoping to cause environmental dmg to them but it does nothing. Of course if you stand on the trap it takes 30% of your health. Sort of a let down.

The first one I had in the game.
Start first character see first trap in CH crouch and disarm trap.Awesome B)
Wait until VR2 to find another trap that could be disarmed .Not awesome :(
Not even caring about traps. Not awesome.

I always thought that traps should be more or less instant kill and should be disabled or carefully bypassed like in Skyrim at a decent difficulty level.

    Adding to my list.

[snip] why do vet enemies have so much health honestly how tanky are cloth armor wearing bandits with no skill supposed to be. i'd prefer enemies hit hard but die faster a could well placed heavy strikes maybe a spell should finish them like in the early levels it felt more real when a could heavy strikes ended a life rather than wailing on them for 5-9 heavy strikes before they drop.

[snip] sword and shield skill puncture? how am i stabbing people with a mace or an axe with no spike on the tip? i think they should do the destro staff clench skill to puncture making the effect vary a bit depending on weapon like axes = Hack does bleeding dmg , Mace= Smash can interrupt or stagger enemy, sword= make it do more dmg overall, dagger> shank make it cause critical modifier or something.

[snip] templars have an entire skill line of spears yet we cant have spear weapons for melee stamina.

[snip] uppercut an enemy off a cliff falls 70 feet gets back up and runs to you just to repeat... enemy fall damage maybe?

[snip] traps dungeons lack them and there is no real hazard to them i took on 4 vet 6 enemies standing in the middle of a spike trap sooo dangerous... not

[snip] why is there a dye station at the bottom of the lake in riften near the potion shop lol

[snip] two handed weapons huge clunky weapons of death yet on impact bounce of flesh like a butter knife does a brick wall. kinda feel enemies should stagger or reel back from heavy attacks this would also help stamina builds with a maybe 10% chance to stagger enemies on heavy attacks maybe higher chance.

[snip] bows i think head shots should do a damage modifier make archers more useful not insta kill but maybe get a 25% dmg buff for head shots.

[snip] snares they dont make sense to me what is it my skills are actually doing to slow you down if my ass was on fire i think i'd be running alot faster in a panic not going for a lovely stroll in the forest. same for horses getting hit in combat i think fast sprinting animal should beableto out run its predator

[snip] throwing daggers... seriously every single enemy with a blade has the accuracy of a master ninja. and always has a knife to throw i feel its kind of ridiculous that everything from bandits to knights dremoras and even savage morons like goblins can chuck a knife 200 yards that homes in on you even during dodge rolls lol.

[snip] bring back soul gem enchanting it makes soo much more sense and would thin out the soulgems being spammed. as well as the ability to find gear with enchant and deconit to learn the enchant and let the soul gem level determine its power make the passives allow you to use higher gems.

ok [snip] vent over for the moment lol still love the game

Good question. My healer is doing just fine.

    [snip] - Why can I kill a player-duo with a single skill

Yes. It is made crystal clear that it is a vision if you actually payed attention to the dialogue at the end of the main story line.
Why do you get xp in a vision?
Because one can gain knowledge in a simulation.
    Why do you gain gear?

Because they know it's broken and they don't care. Just one more Nightblade issue they can't be bothered with. In another thread @ZOS_GaryA‌ says that various sources of dodge chance stack. They don't, they don't generally even give the amount of dodge chance in the tooltip. Maybe they don't know after all.

The snaring is another pet peeve of mine. EVERY single mob from a mudcrab to daedra will snare you. It's really annoying that every mob has this ability for some odd reason.
