Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

Have they finally killed their own game?

After reading what Gina wrote, I am inclined to consider that the forum is not accurately representing the XP situation at the veteran ranks.

I guess I am going to have to go make a veteran level character and see for myself.

Ill save you the bother. The new crafting quests award 499 xp for a max profession level VR7 character. 499 xp, that's the same as a mob in some places.

Not accurately representing something does not have to mean "lying". Based on what Gina said, it may very well be that people are missing something. What people say may be wrong and they may not know it. (EDIT: and that includes Gina)

In any case, it is time to see for myself.

I think they are just telling people to play your toon to vr1 and quit -- you will not lvl anymore and if you do you will be fighting mobs 4 to 7 lvl's above you. So go directly to jail -- do not pass go -- and get no xp. -- I cannot believe Gina said there is no real problem and just keep playing -- That's insane

Yup. Seems they didn't just want to slow down progression of v14s but try to keep anyone else from getting there.

At best they were disingenuous about this.

A big part of this issue is that we have no idea how long this interim period of VR ranks co-existing with XP is going to last before everything is reset to 50 and hopefully 'fixed.'

Veteran ranks are technically endgame, but you will not be able to experience trials, Dragonstar Arena or use certain gear until you are in the neighborhood of at least VR10 or so.

Also, due to the dungeon scaling, it creates a divide in the VR ranks as well, due to the XP and gear scaling. Sure you might be able to get 3 VR14 guildies to run a daily with your VR3 toon as party leader, but do you think that they will be willing to make those sacrifices over and over for weeks and/or months as you struggle to reach their level yourself? They are going to want to get as much XP themselves for the champion system launch and getting 1-4 XP for mobs in scaled-down dungeons is not the way to do it.

I'll try and be optimistic and hope that the patch does indeed deliver on their intent to speed up (or at least mirror) the former VR leveling rate. In the meantime, it looks like a weekend of hunting for Dwemer motifs, picking flowers and leveling lowbies for me.

    So this is there response?

Not looking so dramatic now am I :P They don't even know how badly they have screwed up (they seriously don't get it). Basically they have created a massive divide, those that were VR14 pre patch 1.5 and those that were not and never will be. You cant balance the xp for the champ system before it is out, that's just rrrrrrrrr, how can they be so utterly stupid!!!!!

Just read the response. Yep not so dramatic I'm with ya now. An Incremental patch to raise experience for monsters well below your level.. what a crock. When they saw it and was like nope we messed up, we'll fix it. I was good with it. But the "working as intended" stuff doesn't cut it.

I just got one of my alts to VR1 (right after the patch), guess who's getting abandoned. I really don't care about Craiglorn and the other stuff. In the spirit of this I'll just stick to rolling alts in different alliances and lvling to vr
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

yep this is what I'll be doing. At least until they come up with some end game content that interest me.

Seriously. You went up 10 levels last night. You were able to do this because you purchased something in their store. This is a good thing?

Echoing Lordrichter... I left SW-TOR and my sixteen characters, deleting every one of them on my account (talk about rage-quitting) because of their new expansion.

SW-TOR was enough of a brain-dead game already. Their expansion takes away the ability to set up your characters the way YOU want them (kind of like what WoW did). God forbid that you actually have to think...

I understand their next expansion will remove the keyboard and mouse interface. All you'll have to do is login and the game will play itself for you while you watch.

When you have 6 characters at max level, being able to level with just class quests is rather nice. Also im only there due to how frustrated I am with this game. Its my 2nd option, just that my first option is now pretty cruddy for me since my chars here are VR9 and VR7.

I like talent trees and removing them isn't great, but that's the next best thing to being here.

If you understand anything about class stories in the game then yes its a damn good thing. That and I already have 6 max level characters there.

A lot of small bugs is forgivable. They were probably identified and deemed more of an annoyance and not show stoppers. But major subsystem failures (like the LFG tool and XP)? Probably should have stopped release. Surely they were identified before release and if not then another indicator of either gross incompetence or maybe negligence.

And what about the issues since day one? Sluggish/laggy skills? Broken NB invisibility? Etc, name your "favorites". How do we oppologize those away after so much time has passed?
The game is drastically different since release, and has improved drastically for the better. Yes, there's still problems and still things which need refinement, but to say the game shouldn't have come out because the LFG tool is a bag of sadness is kind of overblown. It does (kind of) work, and guild and zone chats have been helping people group up easily enough. It needs a work, yes, but I think stating the impact is overblown.

The sheer size of the patch notes and revisions have been monumental. Not only that, but ZOS has done what few other companies have dared to do: admit they made mistakes, and actively commit resources to fixing them (e.g. the horrible cookie cutter delves, the end game). It's not perfect, and a lot more will take time.

In other MMOs, I've had to wait years to get that sort of attention and fixes to issues. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better.

I'm no apologist, nor am I a doomsayer. I'm just viewing the game subjectively from where it came from when I first started.

I see that the non problem has not been fixed -- So people over the weekend we need to warn player not to be questing in the lower vr zones. Those quest will be lost along with the xp and a lot of very unhappy campers will have to swallow the painful pill of lost xp. They maybe under the believe that what Gina said (that everything is fine and just go ahead and quest) is so wrong and ZOS is not going to let them know. Maybe we can do what Zos refuses to do and save a lot of people from screwing up their toon

I was just thinking how cold hearted Gina is to tell player to just go ahead and quest -- Knowing all to well they will never get their xp back that they will loose - and they are screwing up the toon they are playing because it is not progressing correctly. That seems very low to me -- hmmm

That is what you consider killing a game? new to mmo? WoW mmo you couldnt even play the druid class for a month and a half on release lol.

Actually, you could pretend playing "a class" called druid for much more than a month and half yet it only started working after the feral druid tree got completely redone.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'working', I played a Feral Druid as my main from launch through BC; you couldn't raid (not that there were many) as anything but Resto, but it worked perfectly well.

Multiple issues here, first we get less xp from mob kills, this is to compensate for the reduced xp requirements to level high level and probably to reduce grinding, but this don't help lower veteran levels.

Second is an confirmed bug in the cap of quest xp who is way to low. This would probably be fixed on Tuesday if they still had that update.

And no I don't think the lost XP will be compensated so farm dwemer, do dungeons or pvp.

Personaly I'm VR13, I had 500k out of 5500k needed for 14, this was reduced to 120k then the xp requirements was reduced to 1440k. I now has 650k.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

To bad more people don't read the forums because there are a lot of players questing this weekend not knowing they are getting screwed. After patch you should for sure check the forums to see if anything is wrong to save your little butts.
