maybe its my luck of being a known capable in terms of Trials in my guilds, but i dont understand the "its too hard to get into trails" complaints.... My first few trail runs were entirely pugs, only 2-3 runs like that which barely got any progress though and failed horribly..

my not long after good break was enchanced by the fact that i had put alot of effort into my build and gear before even entering craglorn, so i got into a group who had DPS requirements and had my first completion only a week after entering Craglorn. Im still with that guild even now^^

there are plenty of large guilds out there that do training runs, and even shout in zone chat for members who want to do their first or learn a new trail..

hell the one major group i am in which weekly does a large number of leaderboard runs has been getting new players into trails for months... exploding in the number of members to a current 460+ (rivals trade guilds but most definitely is not). most of them who have a Vr12+ have done a trial. in fact most of them were recruited from zone via "training run shouts" hosted by the guild Raid officers.

you will have to comprimise to do group content.. this is true of any MMO.. learn what is wanted of your class, and when you have the chance learn what else it can do... Templars are the best healers and ok tanks, but not often wanted for DPS roles... if you give up however, you will never get anywere..
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

I like the rock paper scissors statement. Theoretically we can have to builds, each Bar , but since weapon swap is iffy at best, it's not viable. So we are limited to one bar that we rely on heavily, and a second one to use as a specialty bar. Neither are useful in every case because we are limited to five freakin buttons.
    That's my only gripe today.

Ah, I'm on NA, and I see nothing but horror when it comes to trials. Maybe I've had bad luck. Either way, I have come to avoid it like the plague.

I think the thing with this game is that it's really not going to improve the core mechanics beyond what we now have. There are things fundamentally wrong with the game that the devs are made aware of on a daily basis, and they really do not seem to wish to deal with these things.

They are more interested in pumping out new content - a lot of which is questionable in its value - which just builds on these flawed foundations. I guess they have to keep on with content otherwise people would ask what their sub goes on. A sub can't go on fixing bugs because that logically is something the supplier is duty bound to fix in their own time, so they have to keep releasing content to justify a sub.

I have a bit of a love\hate relationship with ESO right now. There are some things I do really enjoy and are unique to this game, but there are also many things that I just think, "for god's sake ZOS, did you only learn about the game industry yesterday?" Therefore, I do not play anywhere near the amount I used to.

This sums it up very good and I also agree fully with the OP. I have 6 characters and played all classes since early access.

The game is incredibly well worked over as for graphics and immersion but have countless flaws in the mechanics. Some decisions they made in game design just makes me shake my head. At the end of the day they show the perfect recipie for killing a game that could have been simply awesome in all respects.

Why, is anybodys guess... "Greek Tradegy" ??

The new way MMOs are setup, is to entice you to play every night. ESO gives you hirelings, but you don't get stuff unless you log in. The more you fight in Cyrodiil, the better your reward at the end of a campaign.

This gets people burned out on the game. If you take a two week break and come back, you're now loosing out on a lot of stuff and you're not going to be competitive on the leaderboards till the next campaign.

    It's a bad system.

I will wait and see how the champion system goes and the combat mechanics change.
As beautiful as the world is to explore and adventure ..even quest...I cant play much longer in a bug infested, unbalanced system that's just left to rot by the devs.

They need to focus on the here/now/real life of the game as it stands rather than the dreamy romantic future.

If they cant show they are fixing the core foundations and fundamental mechanics and even understand clearly whats required (and tell us how/what/when/why) there really is no point investing all my time in a game that's falling apart at the seams.

I hoped ESO would be that perfect game. It still can be. Theres even some hope. But its a slim hope and I am clutching at straw TBH.

Your post makes me sad , you are where I am heading and I don't want to :( . I found myself updating my mods for Skyrim and actually ordered DA Inquisition (something I didn't think I would do) I thought (since I'm paying) this would be my goto game .. idk .. sad though

Well, to be blunt, I'm enjoying leveling up (still). That's why I have 3 alts. I'm not sure what the end game holds for me here but as long as I'm having fun leveling I'm happy. I'll worry about end game when leveling gets old for me. Then we'll see what happens - either I'll enjoy whatever end game ESO has at that time and stay or I won't and find another game. Or go back to WoW.

    From a guild officer perspective:

Players getting burned out make it harder and harder to maintain guild members and numbers - there is a high turnaround rate. This adds a lot of work for guild recruiters. It also makes it hard for group/raid leaders having to constantly teach and learn to work with new people and causing leaders to burn out. Most leaders that ask for achievement or certain classes or whatever tend to do so because they are burnt out on having to carry or teach new or weaker members. Guild leaders are probably also getting burnt out on having to bring in and train officers. All of these things can make one look at a "new" person as "just another player to spend time on that is likely going to stop playing soon and just become another inactive hasn't logged on in over 14 days" roster entry.

The cycle is harsh. The constantly having to deal with an inconsistent pool of players is tiresome. The only consistency that I've been able to see is lots of work and burn out that magnifies this situation even more.

None of my characters have hit 50 yet, so the game is still great for me. Still I equate end game with PvP. From the forums I get the sense that it is a terrible situation. I am hoping things get better in that department before long or else I too will need to find greener hills.

I burned out a month or so ago. VR2 Nightblade on EP, VR9 Sorc in DC... No incentive for groups, felt like a single player game with a sub.
Sorry, waste of money for someone looking for an ACTUAL MMO.

Dudes, this game is great, i am still doing quests i missed, morphing skills for single target dps build ( i normally run aoe build when questing), at v14

Just did the 12 lower craglorn delves with a pug group , it was awesome
Looking forward to getting the vet dungeons v10 done a few times with different groups, i love learning what the other classes use and do to make it work.
I only get burned out when i try to do too much at the same time, as there is soooo much to do in this game
Beesting, Bosmer Magica DK, AD EU, crafter
Slager, Dunmer Magica DK, DC EU, pvp
Farmer, Dunmer Magica DK, AD EU, trials build

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

In my opinion MMOs have an incredible high fluctuation rate these days which is mostly the fault of powergamers but also the gaming companies who see those as their main customers and feed them with items, achievements and statistics to lift themselves above other gamers.

    Items:

This is where it all starts and ends. If you don't play for a month or two then your gear becomes worthless and since MMOs are all about gear these days, you as a player become worthless.
Long gone are the days when you had items for a whole year or even longer and they stayed competitive and respected by the community.

This mechanism puts a huge pressure on people who want to see all content when its current or better said, want to explore the MMO aspects such as grouping up for difficult encounters.

    Content:

Those encounters however, get harder with every day. Not because of some buff but because of the community and their demands.

If you now don't start the content when a new patch is out, you will sooner or later run into problems of finding a group. These problems are once again based on point A, the items. Even not raiding the first ID puts you behind as the community does not tolerate slackers or better put, people who don't constantly work and improve on their char.

    Char:

Your Char however can only be worked on if you play and find items so that you can replace your old. That system however isn't the only burden for the player, something else is the "achievement".
After about one or two weeks, players will demand and expect that you were in a dungeon before. I would even go as far and say some do expect that you were actually on the PTS or watched multiple videos in advance. Long gone are the days when it was ok to be new, to not know something.

    Guilds

Being new while trying to join a guild seldom works out. Many guilds have such high requirements that hardly anyone actually applies and then these same guilds complain instead of fixing their high demands.
Back in the days a guild was mostly a place to come together and chat while you play. Today however most guilds are based on achievements and tasks that you accomplish together, the social aspects are seldom of any relevance to guild leaders.

Because of this many guilds serve only as a spring board, a place to be for a few weeks so that you can move on to the next, better guild.

You have to ask yourself why guilds don't change their mentality or why we players don't and eat every new update, item patch that the Devs throw at us.

In the end I think it all comes down to what we face in RL so often, people just accept things rather than trying to change them. Why go the hard way if you can go the easy one?

Personally that burn out syndrome be it in RL or VL is something that you can avoid but you will need to accept that this also means you wont be swimming with the swarm most of the times. In my case this means no more guilds or raiding in MMOs and I finally have a wonderful time at these games again where I don't have to prove anything to anyone and can log on when I want to and not when someone wants me to. ;)

I am merely burnt out due to endlessly fighting the bugs/lag. Not the content.
