More classes in the future?

Yeah I can't stand the limitation on classes. It's severely hindering several ideas for alts. that I have in mind. And the lack of spell-skills is ridiculous. I don't want to have to use a staff to fire and ice on a mage, but my option for fire is a dragon knight? Please. And no ice on any class? What the?? Redguards and Nords are notorious for being melee based warriors, yet I have to choose a magic class and on top of that, if I don't want to use magic, im stuck with a measly 4 melee skills +1 non-melee skill in the weapon lines. Very disheartening, class wise. I love the game, and have 1 of each class, so don't get me wrong, but I cannot justify playing a redguard or Nord on a magic based class. Not to say there have never been magic using Rguards or Nords or Orcs, by the way. And Ive always had a Nightelf that essentially would be a mix of nightblade and dragon knight in every single player ES. Can't do that in ESO. I think Zeni. is trying to hard to mix conventional MMOs with ES, instead of giving the ES players a game of freedom. I understand it, but I don't care for it too much.

Also, the 5 skill hotbar +ultimate is absurd and is not strategic in any way, shape or form. It's because plebeian minds complain they are over whelmed by too many skills. Ugh.

This. This needs to be viral on every part of the forum. lol

I have some of the same feelings. At this point I'm personally fine with the different classes and skill-lines available BUT I can't STAND a skill hotbar with 5 + an ultimate. I'm a lvl 26 Nightblade and the game is becoming boring a tedious very quickly. I imagine another 20 levels of this, and I'll be done :/

I would love to see some new classes. I'm sure my opinion is the minority, but I prefer clearly defined classes with restrictions and benefits. It gives me a better sense of what I need to do, and my role within a larger group. This "free-to-build" system is cool too, though.

I dont want more classes (didnt really want the ones they gated us in the first place)

But I do want more skill lines.

    More alteration magic skill line.
    Unarmed skill line
    Illusion magic skill line
Skill line to enhance speechcrafts (meaning more options and ways to use them) besides the ones granted from the mages and fighters guild.

This is a subject that seems to be touchy with a lot of folks out there. I was utterly disappointed overall in the 4 classes they did choose and in a way still am. While it is a mute point now obviously, I still firmly believe they should have done the standard: Warrior, Mage, Thief, Healer. From there you could have chosen a multitude of skill and/or class specializations much like in Oblivion and to some extent Skyrim (limited of course).

If you truly sit and think about it, having the 4 classes they chose does limit players. A couple examples would be: If you want to be a Fire Mage you HAVE to go with DragonKnight or if you want to be a Warlock you HAVE to go with a NightBlade. Using a Fire Staff does not count as being a Fire Mage btw.

I would also have preferred if they expanded the Weapon Skills a bit more. So if you wanted to specialize in Greatswords or Daggers there would be specialization skills attached to them. Not just the generic Two-Handed/Destruction Staff/Bow..etc. There is only ONE passive skill in each weapon line that does any semblance of that and IMHO it's pretty underwhelming.

I do like what they did with the Armor Skill lines. Very well thought out. I honestly would not change a thing there.

Races..not much you can say on them other than they should have given the Nord a better (more useful) passive than cold resistance...EXTREMELY underwhelming. I don't know a single person that honestly puts points into that.

The 5 skill bar thing is absolutely horrible and limiting. Allow for expanded skill bars. Get rid of the quick bar or at least add a separate bar for potions.

As many have said on here, I too believe they won't add any other classes. So since that is not likely to happen for the love of all that is holy..PLEASE give your customers more skill lines to choose from. Examples:

    1. Unarmed Combat - I want to make a Monk :-)
    2. More "Magic" skill lines..ie..Illusion, Alteration
    3. More weapon choices: Crossbow, Poleaxe/Halberd, Flails, Whips, Necro/Warlock Staves
    4. A Bard-type skill line (much like what Rift did).

To be the man you have to beat the man.

I think we are all well aware the game is new, and most of us are willing to be a little patient while they get on top of things. However .... Anoteros does have a point that perhaps they should invest more effort in fixing what is broken before they introduce major new content.

Am I the only one who likes the limitation of 5 skills+ultimate? Playing other mmos we have so many skills that you almost need a hotbar mod to manage all of them for maximum efficiency. If anything I would like to see some of the skills have additional morphs or at most add 1 additional button to each hotbar.

As far as classes go, I'm more interested in new skill lines, preferably ones that have a different flavor of some of the current skills.

A single class would introduce an array of new choices, high elf whatever, breton whatever etc.. but i think they have new skills planned, why else would they let us lvl the skills to 4 AFTER we have modded them once?

I too am fine with 5 skills and an ultimate.
Its a standard fare with action combat based mmos.

And makes selection of the skills you do use more important.

Your not the only one who likes the limitation of 5 skills + ultimate many others like the limitation as it is a refreshing alternative to the NUMEROUS games that require a couple extra hands to play.

Personally I don't really see how somebody thinks they are going to play this game pressing keys 6 and beyond while keeping their hands on the WASD keys.

It's pretty hard to think of any kind of new class for them to add that wouldn't be better done as a skill line (e.g. unarmed). Ultimately most of the classes in the elder scrolls games are basically some kind of variation on spellsword, and we've got about all the archetypical types covered. The one thing they are missing is a pure physical class, so maybe something that still has magicka but feels less like a spellsword and more like a normal soldier? Maybe a tactician or something like that.

One thing that might be hot would be to give characters the ability to learn from each of the other class skills. This would server to create one class with four ways to begin the career. Maybe after you reach Veteran 25 you could start working on Legend levels, where each level would give skills from another class. That way they could advance the character without having to do much development work.

More classes, no. More skills, yes.

Classes - historically TES games have had an "open" skill system- starting with Arena. You had a loosely based class system that was more of a "guideline" than a "rule". Your attribute choices mattered more, however- because they determined how fast your skills leveled (as in picking Magicka as your primary wouldn't make your Sneak skill level very quickly) but in this variation of TES it's sort of backwards. Your attribute choices only matter for expenditure of "resource" rather than a direct reflection of skill levelling. Another big difference is how you use the skills and how it levels- which in this game doesn't really matter as much. (you could have it on your skill bar and never use it- but it will level, for example)

Skills - having more skill lines available per "class" would be a welcome change- perhaps an "open" skill line which you could choose a 4th tree from ALL available classes/options. This would allow some classes variation- such as picking up spell casting for tanky types or vice versa. Or an Assassination Sorc, etc.

Ability Bar - Ugh. Where to start? OK I'll get the first part out of the way. I loathe consoles. Period. No offense to console lovers, and what you like isn't what I like. I just cannot seem to get used to putting keyboard/mouse reactions into button mashing XYZABC whatever. I find my reaction times are quicker with a keyboard/mouse combo- perhaps it's because I'm a long time computer user.

I'm still on the fence with the 5+ultimate thing. In a way it's very refreshing to see a game where the choices you make in planning out your rotation/abilities will fare- but on the other hand, it's severely limiting in some class builds (e.g., pet sorc, etc.) and also some classes that use their secondary weapon skills to balance their build. I'm not "buying" that it's a design based around "thoughtful planning". It's a result of "console-ization" more than anything. Simplicity for the sake of not having to program two different platforms of input commands. Period. Blizzard did the same crap with Diablo 3 and later WoW. (and they got hell for it, too) I'm still waiting for Blizzard to announce "WoW for consoles". Don't laugh- it's bound to happen.

So the interface of ESO was designed to incorporate both- so Zenimax can make money. Great. That's their prerogative- they're a business and businesses are designed for one thing- making money. But please, for (insert whatever divinity you choose to worship here)'s sake, listen to your customers instead of choosing to ignore them when they give you feedback on this- PC users (speaking mainly for myself, feel free to disagree/agree with me here) need more than a "hold down X button" quickslot for ready use items. Want to limit the amount of "power" keys? Great, go ahead. But the quickslot thing has to go. Some classes use health and magicka pots, or health and stamina, etc. I want a choice of both- not either/or. Make it TWO slots if you have to- so we're still limited (can't use all three, perhaps) and have to sacrifice something. Food/drink buffs we can live with having to open our inventory window and apply it, at least because it lasts for "x amount of time" rather than potions which are very short term usage.

I love the game. Seriously. Some classes are more challenging than others (*cough* Nightblade *cough*) and I've noticed that many are choosing the FoTM route rather than giving appropriate feedback (*cough* Destro Staff *cough*) (wow, I really need to do something about that cough) but overall I find the content engaging, thoughtful, and beautiful. Still think the classes should have been more TES based and not "MMO-ized" for the sake of marketing. Please do NOT bring the "holy trinity" crap to this game, either. Being able to choose freely is what TES series has always been about, after all.
TL;DR - If you got this far without reading the entire post you're either too lazy or suck at reading comprehension and probably don't belong in a public forum anyway. Just move along, you wouldn't understand.

There is couple of things i WANT to be happy with this game as TES. I dont care about MMO part as turning TES to MMO was wrong in the first place, it should have been free form MMORPG with weight on RPG part.

MMO players have enough *** to play with allready, i dont see many of them caring a ditch about TES lore so they are irrelevant.

First and most important to me is add traditional magick schools.
Alteration, Conjuration, Restoration, Mysticism, Destruction and so forth. These should not be available as spell books you can find or buy. If as skill lines. Not one of them should be restricted to 1 morph but multiple morphs with distinct visuals and effects but still having the basic spell in mind like upgrading firebolt to fireball and so forth.

Secondly, Skyrim like combo moves that use stamina. You go forward and attack, it is one kind of charge attack. You go sideways and hit is different and backwards is also different. Just like in Skyrim. Weapons should have less range too so you cant hit with dagger from 5 meters.

Freeform class with possibility to build character just how you like.

To hell with balance i say, concentrate to making unique characters and play like anybody wants.

PVP? Player WILL BALANCE themselves like they do in EVE or suffer the drawbacks of playing their ownwway. Everyone of us has a brain to use.

Possibility to use any armor in the level cap. If my character is someone who likes rusty iron armor he or she should be able to use that armor for the whole duration of their life with only upgrading it by making more powerful version of iron armor.

I don't really like the classes. Skyrim should've been the mold for character customization..........However, they should absolutely never add more classes. The game is in skill lines. People rush through a lot of stuff here, where they should probably take a closer look at their bar before they try to undertake something and be a little bit more imaginative about swapping their loadouts.

Wykkyd's Outfitter should really be built into the base UI at this point to allow for quick bar swaps.

No more classes, if anything LESS classes. I don't want to play alts, I just want a single toon that I can concentrate on forever. Give me cheap respecs so I can experiment and have fun that way, heck I'd like to be able to respec on the fly so I can decide if I want to be a healer or dps when I join a group/raid.

As for the 5 skill bar fail, I have to agree here. I miss Everquest 2 where I might have 20 buttons in front of me and had to strategize which skill/heal/damage/save etc would be needed within a second or less, versus just spamming one skill over and over in this game. Especially as a healer, EQ2 was a ton of fun because it required so much strategy. In ESO healing is just spamming for the most part, with the smart healer having a tiny bit of strategy with things like feeding the tank stamina, although a sorc healer truly does nothing else but spam.

Remove the classes entirely with a future update. Put all class spells under the corresponding school of magic that will be introduced with spellcrafting, including all the passives. Let everyone have complete freedom of character build.

Also make some system for stamina that spellcrafting gives for magicka.

Then this would be a true TES game.

I'd rather not. Having classes already and setting restrictions on the player is already a deviance from the core philosophies of TES.

I would rather them focus on opening up more options for every player rather than add more walls.

,,,,,the core philosophies of an ES game is "max every skill, roflstomp game"
In single player ES games, you have the ability to be OUTSTANDING at EVERYTHING all at the SAME TIME.

That would NEVER work in a multiplayer setting. Ever.

This is a weak argument against the existence of classes.

Sure it's not in keeping with the pattern, but adaptations and adjustments must be made when involving a new approach.

Walls, in this sense, are necessary to allow for variety. If there were no classes, EVERYONE would be the same cookie cutter OP ridonkulous build in the same outfit, waving the same weapon just because it was OP and "the best way to play".
