I would love to see a duel option appear in ESO even a similar mechanic as SWOTOR where you can walk up to a person and challenge (they do have the option to walk away!) would be good, perhaps put an arena building in each faction where you can sign up/ challenge specific players there? I think keeping this out of the Alliance War is a good option though to keeping them as separate entities. Thoughts?

Edit: perhaps only being able to make a challenge through an NPC at the arena with another person who has already signed up for it...

    I think you mean duel, as long as it's in Cyrodil then fine, not in the open world.

    As long as there is a block duel request function to go with it. Or an enable duel request function, kind of like flagging yourself for duels.

    I really like the one arena per faction idea. People dueling in public gets annoying. Another idea would be a big matchmaking system that throws you in a 1v1 arena (interior of a keep would be a good battleground) against somebody else at your level. I'd say elo, but that might be asking too much of Zenimax.

    This. So long as I don't have to see every other cat challenging my character to a duel, I'm good with it.

    One of the many reasons I never subscribed to WoW after playing their starter edition was because of the multiple folks throwing those stupid challenge flags down around me, while my character was trying to get somewhere.

    I think signing up at the arena and not having that pop up in your face would be good, even a ladder/ competition if people were interested.

    NO. Pvp is locked away in a single zone for a reason. What is will bring is100's of people sitting in towns at crafting stations/banks and any other place they can think of spamming duel commands trying to trip a unwanted duel to impede player progress. 95% of pvp players do not care about the challenge they want to GRIEF everyone its all about getting a chance no matter how small to screw the next guy.nothing else.

    which is why I don't think you should be able to spam a dual in the world via a command. you should have to do it through an NPC at an arena.

    I haven't personally done to much pvp in ESO yet but I know from experience any form of battle ground arena style what ever will KILL world pvp just for the simple fact that's its easier to put a 3-4 man team to do area then it is to get the numbers for an open world battles and then lets also factor in the all PVP'ers act and think the same way
    If your getting your butt kicked you call in for more help now the other guys losing so they call in more help and this cycle keeps going so lets start out you take 3-4 guys in to do some pvp you start pwning another small group so they call in some back up now your getting butt handed to you so you say to your friends hey theres x guys here pvping so your friends come because of the thrill of a chance at some decent pvp and so forth this cycle goes tell the epic battles start and then people get bored.
    But in a arena you cant do that your always paired evenly to numbers and not skill so you never have to worry about the losers getting the upper hand and then the arena just becomes a mindless skill less grind where half the people que up just to grind out pvp points even if they always lose cause every game rewards the losing team with some points even if its a small amount
    Ive see it happen in many games where world pvp is dominate and active then you guys complain about needing arenas or some form of that style because theres never enough action or what ever the thousands apon thousands of complaints about it are and then once the devs finally give in no one ever goes to do world pvp areas ever again they just sit in the safety of towns and que up for the arena and thus the world pvp areas die ..
    Its happened in many games and then the only world pvp you see isn't really pvp its one player going out in hopes to find some unsuspecting person whos farming mats or what ever and ganks them

    The only way I can see a win win is if ZOS finds a way to merg the two together so you have to do one to do the other and and the rewards are completely different leaving the best rewards for alliance battles so people will still want to do them maybe once you have captured a keep and/or fort maybe it could unlock mini arena battles where your infiltrating another keep owned by an enemy alliance with a small group to steal resources or some thing so your army can capture that next fort and you get pitted up against another small group whos defending those resources or some thing.. I feel this would work well with small changes to the way things are currently done instead of letting large alliance groups be able to take resources make it so the small arena style battles judge the out come of taking the resources hard point domination/king of the hill style and maybe even go as far as using this same set up for capturing the scrolls use the big armies to break the defenses but then pit small arena style battle group against each other so there is one defending the scroll and one capturing it ....capture the flag/scroll any one?? and as you can see these to styles of pvp could easily be made to play hand in hand where you need one to do the other and vise versus

    Why would someone go to the trouble of making a hack/mob just to annoy you? I have been in games with this feature, and have not been spammed with it, IDK why you think its going to happen here for sure, especially with this game being PTP.

    What? Not in any mmo since the beginning of time has there ever been a hack to circumvent others' duel/pvp flagging preference.

    Also, bots are in absolutely no way related to addons, as they need access that is far deeper than what the API allows for.

    As long as I can auto-decline I am ok with dueling, In games that I have played with it, getting tons of random duel invites is a pain and takes away from my game play, I used to laugh when some level 50 would send a duel request to my level 15, guess they had no skill LOL

    Of course some players would get frustrated at constant duel requests so ye an arena or duel sign up option on the in game settings would be best

    There have been many, many, many threads and polls regarding this. I know I've been among those making them. I REALLY want to see duels happen! Best scenario, 1. duels CANNOT happen indoors so no dueling in the bank, the tavern, etc. 2. You must flag yourself FOR duels otherwise you cannot receive duel invitations so irritating kiddies can't spam you and 3. Duels scale the lower level character up to the higher level character so people can participate in dueling at any level and against any level.

    The point is that Cyrodiil is laggy, buggy, and boring to many people. We need alternate forms of PvP. It's that simple.

    Either that or make a new megaserver with world PvP and allow free server transfers. I would transfer in a heartbeat

    I like the idea of making arena for duels, maybe in the same style in one of the AD main quests I forgot the name :/ where you duel champions and stuff.
    Maybe in cyrodil or imperial city arena, Its a good idea to have a tower with mini tournament with 10 players registering make a random selection for duels and player progress till he gain the championship and ranks to move in upper tower level.

    I have to agree with some of the other posts I wouldn't mind it but as long as it's not in the open world
