When you leave lol feedback, it is because you find it funny or you want to give bad feedback? No gray area here Y or N. What do you mostly use it for?

    I'd rather have the satisfaction of telling someone they're wrong and why instead of using an anonymous button that doesn't even mean what I'd be using it for.

    I'd had some posts simply giving information and trying to help out get 'LOL'd.

    It gets pretty misused, but I'm guilty there too.


    If someone's funny they get a LOL. If someone's being ridiculous they get a LOL.

    I tell people they are wrong, and why, that way they can learn (most don't, but they can).

    LOL for me is humorous, you made me laugh, in a genuinely funny way. Any other use is just plain rude.

    This is why I've started using 'awesome' for funny posts unless their can be 0 doubt the comment was a joke and a 'lol' is appropiate. Stop using it as a down vote.

    You are at least internally consistent, and following the prevailing trend should help to convey your meaning.

    If you do for both however, you cancel yourself out and dilute your intention

    Your poll is broken, it needs a 'both' option. I use it according to circumstance, and it's normally obvious from the context which is meant.

    However, since *most* of the time I just mean 'that's funny', I selected the first option.

    LOL is my dislike button. I usually make a one-line zero content post that leads to no further depth in discourse such as "LOL - I disagree."

    This fulfills the function of a "Dislike Button."

    Technically, LOL just means "Laughing Out Loud" and within itself doesn't imply a polite laugh, a rude one, a serious or sarcastic one.
