Timing of release dates. People tend to figure that closely released online games should develop in a similar fashion on a "good' trend. Also they attempt to use the data in a comparative manner.

Those would actually be very low numbers for a AAA MMO, especially one with such a large IP.

compared to what? WoW? because everything is generally low compared to WoW. There's no accounting for taste.

We have about half of what WoW had after it's initial launch. Not too impressive, but not terrible considering the amount of massive increase that game had over the years. If we can't double the numbers within the next year, I will be concerned.

Numbers will be released when the console versions come out if the sales are legitimately good. If not, you won't hear a peep. I love this game, but there are some things about it in its current state that need to change soon and I am surprised they haven't been fixed already. Not getting mail immediately after a purchase is pretty poor. I could go on and on, but I could also go on and on about the great things about this game. That doesn't change the fact that there are some seriously bad components to this game as well though.

No one releases their sub numbers publicly unless your blizzard lying to your investors that accounts equal paying customers. The only time devs reveal numbers is in thier investor reports to holders. Even there public confrence calls they only report revenue.

770k is a good number. As far as it not comparing to WoW--well duh, them and everyone else. NO ONE touches WoW numbers. A much better comparison is to other MMO's, and 770k is pretty darned respectable.

its a qrtr mil more then SWTOR had at this stage yes. so there is still some hope they will turn this thing around. But at the rate which they fix things and add content . they wont have a chance in hell at growing it will be survival mode the whole life sycle of this game.

you mean every 4-6 weeks, as has been promised?

Yea that's clearly not fast enough, I demand new bug free content every week ZOS! @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_GinaBruno I hope I got your names right! Explain why we are not getting content weekly at once!

Umm no im speaking to the Bugs like Group leader bug, has been there since beta makes forming trials extremely frustrating.

Im speaking to the content like thieves guild and dark brotherhood that was said prior to launch would be in with or shortly after craglorn.

i am speaking to the stamina builds being broken for nearly four months now. With more nerfs to classes then anything. and not more than a *** in the wind to balance the armor lines and stamina to be viable.

I am speaking about one actual content update in almost 5 months . That was craglorn and in all honesty at the time they opened pre orders they said it would be in at launch( don't you remember the 7 month release date push back? they said it was to polish the game and get Craglorn in for launch?) I really don't count crypt of hearts a content up date dude it was a dungeon they added to fill the gap of not having Vr 12 content other then trials.

So yes i am speaking about the one content update they have had in four and a half months. when they promised a 4 to 6 week content stream for our premium subscription. and this next update is nothing more then Fluff partner, armor dyes is not content. And buffing the armor sets to make Stamina builds viable is not content thats a fix. and no i don't blame @ZOS_JessicaFolsom or @ZOS_GinaBruno. they are just doing a job , and a thankless one, hell i don't even blame ZOS they made a fun game with a beautiful engine.

what i do think is this dev team is in survival mode, this game is headed for freemium, and the aquiring of Sleepy giant to head a department is screaming cash shop paywalls. all that content they spoke of at quake con aint coming anytime soon . if even 50% even makes it in by 2015 ill be very shocked. All that additional stuff your gonna be paying for i am damn sure of that . this is a practice all MMO's are following post launch. Yes i am a bit bitter i would have like the things they said would be in game. i would have liked to see them acknowledge and be pro active with fixing the armor lines and stamina.

I would like to have seen them address those game breaking things that chased of a majority of all of my guilds populations . the one spec for all classes dress and stick, the two role group system DPS and Heals for end game groups. Yes Sir i am speaking about those things . your attempt at humiliating me utterly failed

Another thing is private companies don't even have to release numbers only publicly traded companies by law have to.it's also illegal for them to lie about those numbers.

But when it comes to money we all know legal and illegal is a very very grey line

But even with me spewing facts and shinning the light on dirty little marketing ploys like i think all those quake con panels were. 750K is not very high retention on 2 mil in sales, its quite bad. but 750k is quite a lot of subs and more then enough for them to keep green lighting more content and stay very profitable make their payment on that 300 million loan from Equity financial.
11 million a month is nothing to be ashamed of, but i do think by 6 months this game will be below 450k . And that's not the revenue a premium service AAA title with a large loan is looking for. they will start trying to make money off pay walls vanity gear that's not attainable in game. and nasty in game financial predatory practices.

I don't know. The fact that they're privately held and own their IP and are not licensees like the studios that build LOTRO and SW:TOR is a huge advantage, I would think. As long as there's money flowing, everything is peachy keen.

I don't know what you mean by the latter part, but that selling vanity fluff (e.g. mounts, pets, and funny hats) in a fully fledged subscription based game is both viable and accepted has already been proven time and time again by Blizzard. Heck, they could even jump on the charity bandwagon while doing it.

As to your IP suggestion. I did not think of that that is correct. that does reduce overhead huge.

As for Vanity . i am talking of what TOR did Gambling packs epic purple mounts that come from gambling pacs. on the average it cost people about 200 dollars to get.once the Broker had multiple of them on they offered them at 20 dollars a piece. same with unique armor sets. none of these things were in game. so subscription people had these items barred from them unless they bought them. Same with crystals . its horse crap honestly, just because it is standard practice now it was not how buisness was done with premium games say 4 years ago.

ESO is doing fine and gaining new subs and resubs by the day. People will come flocking back in droves when the JS, thieves guild/assasins guild, imperial city, dragonstar, new zones, and spell crafting drop.

I agree , but not to be the pessimist they have not even implemented 25 % of what they said was coming in their first road ahead. even with this update. We have had one real content update in almost 5 months. all those things your hoping for ar easily 12 onths away.

there is no way this game has 700k+ subs. I don think this game even has 300k subs.

Even if it did have those numbers that is a very low number. Dont forget a sub number isnt reflective of active people in the game . Hence why the surprise.

Given the money poured into it - the franchise being one of the greatest of all time and the quality of the game and graphics engine I think this is a big failure and will go backwards

    Wow

    Really?

They must be ashamed of the number

You know - If they came out and said
'I know we stuffed the game up past Level 50 - I know our end game needs work but stick with us'

I may not have unsubbed (2 days left)

Who am I kidding I still would have

Not sure why everyone is comparing it to WoW's release numbers since at the time WoW was really the only game that was that massive that came out.
