Timing of release dates. People tend to figure that closely released online games should develop in a similar fashion on a "good' trend. Also they attempt to use the data in a comparative manner.why people always compare eso with wildstar is beyond me
Those would actually be very low numbers for a AAA MMO, especially one with such a large IP.Sallington wrote: »Anything over 350k-400k subscribers and the game is doing awesome. Hell, I'd consider anything over 250k very successful.

I love this game, but there are some things about it in its current state that need to change soon and I am surprised they haven't been fixed already. Not getting mail immediately after a purchase is pretty poor. I could go on and on, but I could also go on and on about the great things about this game. That doesn't change the fact that there are some seriously bad components to this game as well though.
770k is a good number. As far as it not comparing to WoW--well duh, them and everyone else. NO ONE touches WoW numbers. A much better comparison is to other MMO's, and 770k is pretty darned respectable.

its a qrtr mil more then SWTOR had at this stage yes. so there is still some hope they will turn this thing around. But at the rate which they fix things and add content . they wont have a chance in hell at growing it will be survival mode the whole life sycle of this game.

you mean every 4-6 weeks, as has been promised?
Yea that's clearly not fast enough, I demand new bug free content every week ZOS! @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_GinaBruno I hope I got your names right! Explain why we are not getting content weekly at once!

No one releases their sub numbers publicly unless your blizzard lying to your investors that accounts equal paying customers. The only time devs reveal numbers is in thier investor reports to holders. Even there public confrence calls they only report revenue.
But even with me spewing facts and shinning the light on dirty little marketing ploys like i think all those quake con panels were. 750K is not very high retention on 2 mil in sales, its quite bad. but 750k is quite a lot of subs and more then enough for them to keep green lighting more content and stay very profitable make their payment on that 300 million loan from Equity financial.Wifeaggro13 wrote: »DominusPax wrote: »Numbers will be released when the console versions come out if the sales are legitimately good. Another thing is private companies don't even have to release numbers only publicly traded companies by law have to.it's also illegal for them to lie about those numbers.
But when it comes to money we all know legal and illegal is a very very grey line

I don't know. The fact that they're privately held and own their IP and are not licensees like the studios that build LOTRO and SW:TOR is a huge advantage, I would think. As long as there's money flowing, everything is peachy keen.Wifeaggro13 wrote: »they will start trying to make money off pay walls vanity gear that's not attainable in game. and nasty in game financial predatory practices.
I don't know what you mean by the latter part, but that selling vanity fluff (e.g. mounts, pets, and funny hats) in a fully fledged subscription based game is both viable and accepted has already been proven time and time again by Blizzard. Heck, they could even jump on the charity bandwagon while doing it.
ESO is doing fine and gaining new subs and resubs by the day. People will come flocking back in droves when the JS, thieves guild/assasins guild, imperial city, dragonstar, new zones, and spell crafting drop.
