So are they saying that cloak shouldn't break the projectiles path and you should be stuck getting hit with anything coming at you mid-cast anyway? assuming it doesn't miss on some other level, of course.

I'd be inclined to argue that's how it *should* work. Though apparently there is disagreement.

I think the first question, is what *is* invis supposed to do. A lot of people are saying "Here's how it used to work, let's make it like that", which could easily have not been how it's intended to work.

Personally, I'd be inclined to argue:
    1. When you stealth/invis, all "cast time" abilities targetting you are interrupted.
    2. Any already en route abilities, whether charges or projectiles, (or heck, melee swings) hit you as normal. You're "still there", you just aren't visible. So where you go *next* is unknown.
    3. Damage of any sort doesn't break invis. (possibly not even stealth?) This includes the aforementioned en route abilities, but also includes damage of the AoE variety. (possibly some particular morphs or specially indicated abilities are exceptions?) Definitely includes all DoT's. Non-targetted healing also shouldn't break it (i.e. spells that affect "allies in an area" wouldn't break it, heals that affect an ally, or 2 allies, etc. would)
    4. I have no problem with 360° blocking. This is an RPG, combat is an abstract. However, you should NOT be able to block attacks from stealth/invis. At all. Regardless of the direction the attacks come from. Similarly, it shouldn't actually matter from which direction the stealth attack is launched. Back/Front, shouldn't matter. If you're stealthed/invis and undetected, it should get full benefit regardless.

I don't particularly agree that invis should be/needs to be a form of mitigation. It should be a component to a powerful 1-2 attack. It should be a DPS ability, not a mitigation ability.

(And P.S. I do have a stealth based rogue character (who happens to be a NightBlade))

And what other mitigation ability do NBs have?

    1. Who says they have to have one?
    2. Blur.
    3. Pick weapon mitigation skill of choice.

Thats just laughable. Do other classes need to 'pick a weapon mitigation skill of choice'? No, they have far superior skills than '15% chance to dodge' in their class lines.

Medium armor active ability grants 15%+ dodge rating + 1% for each piece of medium armor equipped.

Everyone can use that. Whats stopping other classes from taking that in addition to their superior class defense skills?

You guys must have misunderstood me. I'm in agreement with you. I'd rather just have my class work the way it was intended. The cloak and syphoning strikes were the reason I selected Nightblade. Syphoning strikes is awesome but cloak obviously needs work... Still.

Yeah, I am with you brother, I put it in a simple short clean thread in hopes of getting an answer, but instead it is just a redirection to this wandering conversation about how frustrated we all are.

Further proving that hope springs eternal and a sucker is born every minute (meaning me):

Devs/Moderators: Can you please tell us:

Is the change to how Shadow Cloak works an intended change or a bug?

If it was intended, can you tell us why you chose to do this?
If a bug, when might you fix it?

    Thanks.

But one thing they cant deniy is that it is invisibility which is exactly that no targeting, no hitting, even with aoe, if not then why does bat swarm grant this type of invisibility? That's not stealth!

Guess I confused people by pointing out that they do have some, and they somehow missing the point: Just because 1 class, or even 3 classes, can do something. Doesn't mean they all should.

NB's being able to stealth spam 5 feet away from someone else is probably the silliest survivability fix I have ever seen in an mmo. Stealth should not work that way. You should be forced to fight just like everyone else (ie pick your risk appropriately). In return, nb's should have a damage shield added and be more survivable like the other classes.

Silliest response to the cloak issue I've ever read.

How about they remove your beloved bolt escape then?

If I had to guess, the forum moderators don't know if the change is a bug or not, so the safest course is to say nothing.

The curious part is whether there is someone on the Dev side responding: "It is doing what now? Hmm maybe that is what I intended all along, yeah that's the ticket."

I actually doubt that the change was intended. If it was I would have expected something in the patch notes about it, even if the post was ambiguous.

I love this game but it terrifies me what happens with these patches. Admittedly I have no coding experience, but it just seems so off that a professional company can not keep their own code straight.

As stamina Nightblade, the only thing keeping me alive (due to lack of self heals & dmg shields) is the cloak & roll dodging, and I'm fine with that (although our sustained damage could be better).

Now, if cloak can no longer be used to avoid damage after this patch, you may as well throw the whole thing away.

I sincerely hope this gets corrected.

Somehow, I expected this. They simply have no clue. I am glad I gave up on cloak and respeced my NB to siphoning. It looks as if I am at least going to be able to finish the VR PvE zones with that build.

As an NB even I think that's wrong. Aoe targeted at an area that you are stupid enough to stand in should still do damage...invisible or not. It makes you invisible and unable to target.....not immune from damage.

It's more about their QA/testing than the coding, either their testing is bad and they are missing all this stuff or QA are telling them about these bugs and the suits just say "meh as long as they keep paying us, push it out".

Yeah, I am an NB and I must say I expect to get hit with AoE if stealthed\invisible. After all I am actually still present, just cannot be seen.
