My character was just dropped from the server for exceeding the message rate limit (error 318). I don't use any addons and hadn't messaged other players via any channel (chat or email). Why would this occur?

Error 318 normally occurs because of excessive messaging and sometimes AddOns can be the reason this error message pops up.
Since you already explained that those factors did not count for you we recommend to please type /bug in the in-game chat box and log the following information:- The entire error message
- What zone you were in when the error happened
- If you were in a particular cave or dungeon
- What you were doing (crafting, battling, etc.)

Thanks! I reported the incident via /bug, although unfortunately I didn't copy all of the rather lengthy error message. At the time I was thinking "Unfair!" rather than "Aha, a bug!"
