someone just did a post about an interview and it was brought up in this, I don't have the reference sorry
When someone posts about stuff like that, check the date. That interview was three months old. Someone necro'ed the thread.
People have been saying the game was going to be free to play since before the game was even released. Its nothing new. My favorite post on the old forum, when it was on Bethesda's site, was a long, detailed almost rant on why the game was definitely going to be buy to play because GW2 was the greatest invention in the history of everything and ESO would fail miserably and instantly if it wasn't. People posted links to the dev interviews that just came out that said the game was going to be subscription only. Long, detailed almost rant poster about had a melt-down. So did a few others who "knew" the game was going to be free to play.
This is not f2p game, but zos turning it into garbage.....

I have to say this news update about the Stamina fix.....Heavy Attacks with Stamina based weapons will produce Stamina. Yea doesn't feel like a step in the right direction. Though I don't know if I could quite call the game garbage yet.

@Shaun98ca2
Yeah. It is a bit silly. Let me gather stamina by putting as much as I can into an attack. My main is a stamina NB, but even I can admit the idea is stupid. They could just take cooldown off stamina potions or greatly reduce it, and I'd be happy.

Having said that, I hope it doesn't. I think the sub model will make a better game in the long run.
yeaah . with that you'll sure have the money to pay 2 megaserver and 300 employees that works for new contents and fixing bugs right? sub model it's always the best option, if you hope for new contents and work.

In my opinion the best F2P game i have ever played is Planetside 2, but that may also be because i was a huge fan of Planetside which was not a F2P game.
If they make it F2P sometime i really wish they would take the Planetside 2 approach. I wouldn't even mind if they made a cosmetic store.
I keep hearing this game has a chance to go f2p but I hope not. That means less quality of work done to keep the game going and no standard of quality to anything.
Every f2p game I have tried has been a pile of garbage.

I wish people would stop defending F2P games...
Someone will always end up paying for the freeloaders, and more often than not, that someone is the person who really cares about the game and wants full access to the game's contents.
Needless to say, that full access costs you way more than a subscription ever will.
If you are fine with the fact that you'll be basicly paying for all the toxic cheap people, or you plan on being one yourself, then F2P is a good option.
Greatfellow wrote: »Oh. Hmmm. And I saw someone talk about advertising? Do they have advertising in the games? Thanks.david271749 wrote: »Greatfellow wrote: »Excuse my ignorance, but how do f2p games support themselves?
Usually by selling things you could get in game for real money, like a horse. Some sell things only available throgh cash shops, like pets or playable races...hmmm.

Everytime i try to group it is a mess, so i have gotten in the habit of soloing stuff. Anyway, i used to be strongly against F2P, but i find myself less and less interested in ESO as time goes on, because every update is not worth the $15 / month... some major releases i would pay ZOS ab extra $15 if could pass on the update.
