Is anyone buying from the npc merchants?

Meh - I've done this at least once or twice
Repairs. When I'm too lazy to port to a town ;0 Oops. Thought this was about the roving merchants you find on the road. As for buying anything... not since beta, other than enchants and soul gems.

Yes - I frequently buy goods or gear at those merchants
Half of my sales at least come through guild kiosks, so I'd say people are definitely using them.
-First-Wave Closed Beta Tester of the Psijic Order, aka the 0.016 percent.
Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

-Playing since July 2013, back when we had a killspam channel in Cyrodiil and the lands of Tamriel were roamed by dinosaurs.

-In-game mains abound with "Nerf" in their name. As I am asked occasionally, I do not play on anything but the PC NA Megaserver at this time.

Don't think OP is referring to guild merchants. Think he means the generic tailors, weaponsmith, armorer, carpenter and leatherworkers.

A guild mate pointed out that some of them carry trait gear, for example the fighters guild carries training trait gear. I wish i had known this at the start

Again, maybe I haven't made the poll clear enough. This poll is not about the guild kiosks, but about the npcs that were there since the beginning of the game, that sell goods at fixed prices.

Count me in for repair kits and grocer ingredients for provisioning. I still get repair kits for VR12 characters because I don't always want to have to run back to a merchant for repairs (the third thing I still buy from vendors). If need be I can get potions too, but with Alchemy maxed and the passive for multiple potions per attempt this isn't something I've needed to do in a while. I was going to use the NPC merchants for bait for fishing achievements until I learned that what they sell is a joke.

Now as to buying weapons and armor vendors outside of Cyrodiil, no, not even when leveling my first character from 1-10 in the lower level zones. You can easily get much better stuff just by looting some mobs rather than buying generic stuff from the NPC stalls and tents. I am not sure who that NPC armor and weapon merchandise is intended for. Maybe if I accidentally deconstructed all my gear or something?

I guess it does make sense that there would be merchants selling plain generic gear rather than sets or gear with enchants in the logic of the story/setting, so it feels right in that sense, but it doesn't have much practical value. Maybe if NPC vendors had better stuff among their generic selection (like more green glyphs alongside the basic white variety at enchanting shops) I might buy from such merchants more often. Or if, like grocers, more craft vendors sold just a few materials.

Not frequently, but it is the only way to get some higher level provisioning ingredients.

Bah misread thought it was guild traders.. which I feel are about as useful as mud-crab lice and thus I avoid! Still I dont use the NPC traders much either.. cept sometimes to stock up on healing pots if I'm in a hurry, and short.

Never bought anything. No potions, lockpicks, or simple bait.

Only ever used them to repair my stuff or sell junk.

The only reason I bought once was because it had a trait. It was overpriced and that was the only reason I would every buy gear and weapons from a npc vendor.

(some of the fighters/mage guild ones have traits)
