That said, it does not ruin my experience at all since I just ignore them (not literally using in game ignore, just chuckle to myself and move along). Taking away the ability to name your own character would not only remove those, but also remove all of the good, unique, fantasy driven names as well that players have come up with.
If it doesn't ruin your experience at all, and you just ignore them, why did you make this ridiculous topic in the first place?

There are some calling themselves "Fuckermother" or similar, that I find not so funny.
I also wonder why people choose stupid or even bad names over good or funny ones, maybe because they simply are... ? ^^

Now this, this would *** me off. You say you like RP, but you want to remove an element as important as personalized names? Freedom of choice and creating a unique character doesn't come without disadvantages, but it's a price I'm more than happy to pay. If I end up seeing someone with a controversial name or in a rainbow armor every now and then, so be it.The only fix to this i think would be having to choose pre generated names without choice. I would be for it.

Silly names could also simply indicate "I'm here for fun, not to be a snob"....
Just saying..
