    I disagree.

If a person puts in more time and plays more, he/she should be rewarded with emperor. I know I will never be emperor, and I am totally fine with it. However, a majority of the players now that have been emperor before are just emperor farmers running around with the the "Former Emperor" title.

The title doesn't hold any merit.

I'm ok with that, I will never be the top PVP player, I think I can live with that, shame about missing the skill line, but I can live with that too.

That's just the nature of mmorpgs. It's like that South Park episode about WoW with that greasy Jabba-looking guy with the wrist brace from playing so much. If everybody is special, nobody is special. Are you asking for the title of Emperor to become a participation award? A "thanks-for-playing?"

Heck no. It's supposed to be hard. It's supposed to be an elite title. Kind of like being, you know, an Emperor.

Should've never had an emperor system that gives you such a distinct advantage over another player. It wouldn't matter so much if it was just the outfit because the current farmers have shown that the title doesn't mean anything anymore.

It's not even about being the top pvper, it's about who plays the most and can farm the most points. They should've put diminishing returns on alliance point gains when you keep killing the same person over and over and over and over.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

As far as I personally have thought of there is no way to avoid it, but it would be nice if you weren't able to get Emperor by just farming AP and thus not doing any good for your own Alliance.

I'm not so upset over whether or not I can achieve emperor as I am over the fact that 90% of the people I encounter who have it are colossal jerks. I would use more profane language, but you know, code of conduct.

I am on the ignore list of many former-emperors for calling them out on their hateful comments in zone chat against other players.

But hey, one emperor, whose name escapes me, was really cool about it. He was always thanking people and actively encouraging good behavior and teamwork. It was great.

As for the rest, they tend to be anti-social, hostile, offensive, FOTM, exploiting cave dwellers. I do not like the fact that there is an exclusive reward that caters to that crowd while the rest of us civilized folks have nothing, despite a lot of us having the skill but not the time.

I can live with not having it, but I'd rather the system not even be there. I'd rather factions be able to earn some other emperor bonus that isn't in the hands of the players, but rather NPC-based somehow.

The real question is: why should normal people ever even want to become emperor at all? Why do you? Or was this just a veiled whine about a game mechanic which, if it was made even more accessible as it already has been made, would become so trivial to achieve that it would be positively catapulted into the realm of meaningless oblivion?

It's not an elite title now. Their are guilds of 'former emperors' who cheesed their way into the title. But I agree it should be something special. Should probably change emperor to general, and reintroduce an actual emperor title tied to the ruby throne when the Imperial City opens up.

Thats my point as i agree. Emperor isnt special....its a line thats used by power gamers who are most likely young college kids or people that live in 3rd world countries.

It's not top- or contributing players that get emperor tho. It's the person (or persons sharing account) that farms the most AP.

Current emperor on my campaign does nothing. He spends his entire day leeching AP with Rapid Regeneration on top of keep walls, than waits for defence ticks, /sleep or flute emotes while everyone else is fighting.

I find it sort of hilarious myself. Because it shows so perfectly how messed up the leader board system is. We have a sleeping and leeching emperor, who occasional types "camp plz" in zone so he can fly across the map for another defence tick.

I agree that the obvious and totally predictable exploits in this game are a disappointment. It's as if everyone in the design team was so naive they never imagined people would want to cheat in the game. This permeates the entire design, from the full trust in client-server communication that caused the item dupe bug and enabled the teleporting farmer bots, to the many XP exploits and the loopholes in the rules and scoring in PvP.

None of the exploits I have seen so far would have come as a surprise to a competent online game designer. This game was a rush job, and a first attempt from an inexperienced crew. They should have taken more time to fix the obvious exploits, at least the ones that were reported in beta. Instead, they released a buggy game with lots of known exploits that were just begging to be used.

However, I see absolutely no point in the OP's complaint: that the emperor title is unavailable to casual players. Casual players will never become world champions of any competitive game, whether computer-based or not. Why would it be different in ESO?

I am disappointed that I will never be Emperor, but I understand why I can't be since I don't ever do PvP. I do, however, think it would make things more fair if there was a similar prestige title for those of us who prefer PvE. Right now I don't feel like I have any PvE titles that a PvP player couldn't just grab in a day or two.

If anyone agrees with me, can you think of any comparable titles that this could be? And what would be the requirements to get it? (Just off of the top of my head I thought of Diplomat of the Throne, Barons and Baronesses...though I suppose it would only be Barons because there are no Empresses in PvP lolz).

Its a fact that the implementation for Emperor is highly flawed.

Instead of being based on some sort of skill measurement (i.e. finding out who is the "best"), it is instead based on a time measurement (i.e. who plays the most).

To fix this, ZoS needs to implement a way to "rank" or "measure" player skill in PvP. They could do this any way they want, but no matter what they choose it must be independent of time. In other words, someone who plays 1 hr/day should be capable of achieving the same rank as someone who plays 23 hrs/day.

The simplest way, would be to rank people on the average AP gained per hour. Note, I said, simplest, not "best". This would normalize the AP of the 1 hr/day player vs the 23 hr/day player, and give them comparable scores. Plus, it has the added benefit of incentivizing action over inaction.

Again, this is only an example, but I'm sure ZoS could find out how players are scored in many other games and use a system that is not purely time-based as it is currently.

It's pretty much identical to the daedric red you get for killing the daedric generals. Found this out when I had the glitch that gave me the emperor red for that first week. And the daedric red has more prestige to it because damn that RNG on farming those generals, haha. Daedric red shows you really put some effort into it.

How about a title "Pacifist" for choosing not to do PvP, ever? That would definitely be unattainable by PvP players. After five months of playing I still have zero player kills in Cyrodiil. I have been there, but just for dungeon running and skyshard hunting. (The solo dungeons in Cyrodiil are great, by the way. Larger, better designed and considerably more varied than the ones in the main faction zones.)

I also feel I deserve a "Great Listener" title for actually hearing all the quest dialog out till the end. (Well, perhaps not all, but most.)

And of course I feel entitled to the "OCD" achievement for keeping my bank and my mule alts neat and organized at all times. Well, most of the time, at least. Or, rather, I plan on getting them organized any day now. Soon. Honestly.

First, not only 24/7 players become emporer but also players that play in highly organized or very effective groups. In some PvP-Groups you earn as much points in 5 hours as an average player in a month (and more). So, it is not just the powergamer who does..

Second, you have a 7-day campaign and the pretty easy possibility to become empreror in a few hours (!) (why did no one mention it till now??) Nonetheless, you still need to be "good" or effective and to have a group behind you + strategy...

Again: Emperor can be done a few hours, just wait for a PvP campaign to reset. So, I see no point in this thread!!

I think that Emperor should be removed from the game cause it should never been implemented in the game at first place, it just causes people to go crazy and being really jerks sometimes, they shouldn't make Emperor in the game, why they don't make NPC Alliance leaders Emperors omg and that's it no more talk about emperors, and those who have been emperors before just remove their title and achievements, that's it people, majority will decide!

Some people like Lfehova/Hova/Hovaling have made 3 nearly identical toons (all bat/scale spaming DK's in DC) and have gotten emp with all three for combined times of almost two months.

If you're lucky and have a day off from work when a campaign resets you can get emp. Just get to the top of the leader boards that day and get lucky enough that your faction flips the boards in the time span.
