Do You Think There Should Be Separate Phase's For Solo Players ?

Night_watch, I answered your question and your return rantings have departed the realm of the question or even the poll. You asked "I still fail to see how someone playing solo ruins someone else's multiplayer experience. You don't play with all the players you see no matter how much they mass so how are some singles within that mass bothering you?" The poll is about phases in the mmo, not a separate solo game. Phases would be able to be changed presumably, and therefore gold farming would be possible. Phases would also use the same computon and network resources as the mmo does now. So your rant has no basis. If you want to start your own poll of "should there be a non-mmo version of ESO," you'd find I had a different answer than o have for this poll. [snip]

Private instances for every inside area, thanks.

By selecting private we could *** alone or with the group of our own choosing.

General gameworld outsidre these areas should always be shared with others, only oprion for whole gameworld that NEEDS to exist is Roleplay phase.

do you think there should be separate phase for solo players just looking at all the complaints about solo players fun being ruined not that it bothers me but why not make it so if they want a solo experience there is a login as solo option where you can't see any other online players just npc but you would have the option before you login to chose solo or mmo versions think zos could do this the same way the phase solo group content right now and would stop a lot of complaining let me know what you think and don't say there is better things devs could be working on i know this and that is not the question

    Holy run-on sentence batman!

This is an mmo, creating solo instances for everyone in the open world would be silly. I am a solo player also, and yes there have been times where other players have ruined my experience. However, there have been some pretty awesome tag team encounters I've had with other players.

Also, once I got to veteran content in the other faction zones, the game felt much more like a solo game due to there being much less players around. I am really enjoying questing through the other alliances because of this.

    I gave this an awesome.

    Within; Without.

As someone who mostly plays solo (yes, this is my first MMO - I'm used to single player games, particularly single player TES games), but sometimes groups with real life friends, and sometimes does PUGs for dungeons, you might think I would want solo instances. I don't. Frankly, I think there should be as few phases as possible (within the limits suggested by the logistics of it all). As much as I like to play solo for most of the time, some of my most fun experiences in this game have come from randomly running across people doing the same content as me (had a blast running around a public dungeon the other day with another guy who happened to be waiting for the same boss to spawn as I was), or just goofing off (I'll never forget the time when suddenly for no apparent reason there was a group of people all jumping their horses around in a circle in a city square - I didn't know what was going on or why, but you bet I joined in, laughing like an idiot as I did).

All I have written has to do with the poll or in reply to ideas in other posts and is not rantings.

You asked "I still fail to see how someone playing solo ruins someone else's multiplayer experience. You don't play with all the players you see no matter how much they mass so how are some singles within that mass bothering you?"

    WRONG! That was not me.

The poll is about phases in the mmo, not a separate solo game.

Well done! Re read the statement I made and understand it was made 'tongue in cheek'.

Phases would be able to be changed presumably, and therefore gold farming would be possible.

Do you mean a person could change from being solo phased to being in the MMO 'in the full'? If so, you make a valid point. My point still stands; solo is not equal to gold farmer.

Phases would also use the same computon and network resources as the mmo does now. So your rant has no basis.

Not a rant at all and you know it. I maintain that phases could be handled client side or with a smaller amount of server side interaction and need not effect the MMO negatively.

If you want to start your own poll of "should there be a non-mmo version of ESO," you'd find I had a different answer than o have for this poll.

No need for another poll. I have answered the question in this one and, just as you, stated my opinion. You misquoted the question by the way.

I may of been a bit forceful in my reply but never had any malice and thought I had been reasonable. @seanolan; Thanks for the vitriolic attack all the same.

    EDIT: Tidy up.

You kidding me, with work schedules and life in general, I barely get to interact with others in game as is. I'm happy when I see another player in a dungeon I'm in.

    Maroon me!

    1) resource nodes. A solo player would be easily able to gather unlimited quantities which would bring back gold selling and such annoyances.

What rubbish! First, try harvesting a resource node when a group is in the area 'strip mining' so to say. Second you imply that all a solo player wants to do is 'farm' items which is entirely untrue, unfounded and unreasonable. Third, solo player does not equal gold seller. Fourth, if a solo player was phased from the rest of the game, they would not be able to sell at a high profit to make lots of gold and would, furthermore, not likely be able to gold sell as they would be independent from the MMO part of the game.

Wait you want an entire phase dedicated to solo play????

I am a huge fan of solo play, but I still vote no. If I NEVER wanted other players to be in the game world with me, I would go play Skyrim.

Wait, what? For your "Fourth" point to be true it would have to be an entirely different variety of phasing from the type that is currently used, and might even require a separate server. At a minimum it would require significant effort to set it up that way beyond what would be required to simply create solo phases as they currently exist.

@Psychobunni, I understand what you say about VR12 running dolmen in non Vet areas. There are other threads about it. Part of the blame for this goes to ZOS for making the dolmen generals spawn A LOT less in vet zones. You can ask the vets to assist you in clearing dolmens....never hurts to ask. Some will be jerks, others may not realize they are impacting you. Until I saw a thread on it, I was happy to ignore lower level players. After I saw the thread, I just did healing to get credit for the dolmen. Other Vets were doing the same. And some Vets were clearing dolmens as fast as they could. That's the nature of MMO. And none of this is a valid argument to screw up the game by introducing solo phasing.

Kind of on the fence with this one. I play solo 90% of the time. Sometimes, I enjoy randomly meeting someone at a dungeon entrance and clearing it in an impromptu duo. But, I do find it VERY annoying to get to the end dungeon/encounter of a long quest line that I've enjoyed ,and it's filled with 5 other people killing everything in sight. Kills all the immersion into the story for me.

how bout solo players go play something else and stop attempting to ruin "massive multiplayer online" games lol. there are enough single player console junkers to last 3 lifetimes, how bout they go play one of those instead?
I play single-players game when I want to be alone, I play MMOs when I want to play with others.

Many players are playing both. Try to not put everyone into a box. I play on PC and on Xbox. Nothing wrong with that.

@Ourorboros which is why I said there was no fair way to fix the Dolmen issue.

I still don't think it would interrupt the game all that much to make solo dungeons truly solo unless you are in a group entering.

I think these type threads come about after someone gets irked in game at other players and is as much a vent more than anything else.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

MMOs are made for grouping. Make friends, your MMO game experience will be more enjoyable.

Play single player games for solo instances....

I honestly don't like it if people try to deny others content just because their playstyle is a different one.

In my opinion an MMO is a Multiplayer - a game you play together with many others. Therefore separating people into solo "phases" would work against the term of an MMO.

I find it already quite disturbing that there are so many solo instances and quests - AOC had a similar system and I remember how annoyed my friends and I were as we couldn't play together.

At ESO I mostly play solo or with a friend but I would find it really disturbing that because of my playstyle the game world would die out and everyone plays for himself. Without the occasional passer bye during my plays I would feel lost and bored. This isn't why I play an MMO, I want others around me.

There already hare separate instances for solo players, it's called TES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Leave this game to MMOG players.

    (it's not rocket science)

You can play a game with other players without having to be grouped with them for quests and combat.

    (that's not rocket science either)

Yes, I do that myself, but asking for solo instances is another thing altogether.

Take for example last Tuesday, I was playing solo, I went back to Malabal Tor to find a grocer (last place I saw one). Two players were asking for help in zone chat, I went and helped, actually I was probably as much a hinderance as help but with me they finished their quest.

Now if I had been in a solo instance my mindset would have been, no I'm soloing, assuming I could even see their zone chat. Totally different experience.

Which is why I say No to solo instances.
