@magnusnet
Denying will lead us nowhere. Nowhere good at least..
What do you propose the forum do about the declining numbers? Offer some constructive advice, if you really care about ESO players being in denial...

Ok, I'm gonna fabricate some wild estimates based purely on assumptions as well. 83'525 people currently have the first comment badge. Lets assume that only active accounts are counted. Say there's another 16'475 lurkers to get to an even 100k accounts. Assume only 10% of players participate in the forums. That means 1'000'000 active accounts! Not bad at all. Probably wildly inaccurate, but not bad at all.
Allow me to blow your numbers away. You assumed that only active accounts are counted. Your wrong. I no longer have an active sub; it was cancelled, but yet I am still posting and have that badge, so using forums as a means of counting is not going to work.

To clarify, if the game's population is in decline, I believe it's due to the console gamers who do not like mmos. They were expecting Skyrim and where disappointed. However, console gamers and casual gamers tend to be more 'vocal' in their opinion and like to declare success and failure on their own opinion. They also tend to be sheepish and follow suit. If x many people complain, maybe they're right..?
and with this survey/ hours played program nonsense, it's apparent in this thread that most eso players do not use any of these programs.
It's reasonable to suggest that this is not accurate information to estimate the population of eso.

Your account must still be active @Talrenos (cancelled, but with remaining game time), because every time my subscription renewal payment fails my forum account becomes inaccessible as well.

Since majority in this thread, and most likely the majority of the forum don't use third party survey programs?

... the only company that has an accurate number is ZOS.

When you put it like that, I guess we're doooomed!
Hahaha
Doomed to ftp, doomed to be with ftp casuals!
Nooo!
:P
As for this thread, I just wanted to prove wrong the people in denial that say the game is doing well because fact is: It probably isn't.
What have you done besides coming here and judging?

You said it yourself;
"The only company that has an accurate number is ZOS."
That seems pretty conclusive to me. It's apparent that the third party programmes are irrelevant.
No need to explain % and statistics.
There are too many variables from the programs that it's safe to assume they're not accurate or applicable.
Stick with the ZOS answer, that's the most accurate.

This is by far the best MMO I've been a part of since SWG.
And what community do you mean? I have not found one as of yet. I see guilds where no one knows anyone, guilds of convenience for selling stuff. As far as a community here, well...

You must have picked really sucky guilds.
I'm in 4 right now.
Guild chat is busy. When I've asked for help in a quest I've had vr guildmates come to help me. Someone is making me decon items [one of every staff trait] so I can work on crafting, without gold or materials changing hands. A guildmate has made vr qlyphs for me, for no charge. I've been harvesting material for guildmates, and stocking the guild bank(s). I've given away kuta and other runes to guildmates. I've been sending columbine and other alchemy stuff to guildmates. Then they make stuff and stock the guild bank. When I was looking for motifs, I've had guildmates give them to me. There are groups running Craglorn and doing trials.
I'm not really sure what more you want a guild to do.
As for community here, until some posters get the idea that, whatever their personal viewpoints might be, there are people who have an active account, see there are still problems, glitches, and issues, but are enjoying the game anyway, as well as seeing Zenimax is working on it.
Repeating over and over the game is dying and anyone who doesn't agree is a deluded fool isn't doing much to improve the "community" around here.

The community in game (undecided about the forums though) is one of the greatest communities I've played in. Everyone helps each other, everyones friendly, a simple LFG in zone chat will get you an invite. In many other game communities the word 'noob' gets thrown around. Never heard it murmured in ESO.
The only negative experience (I was only a by stander, not directly involved) is when someone ruins an xp grind by doing something wrong. However people there are normally friendly and hand out invites and teach people how the grind/dungeon/mob etc work.
Really great in game community

In ESO we don't say 'noob' we say Hodor!!

In contrast, your numbers are coming from a completely un-scientific source. It would be like if those same pollsters only polled un-likely voters in the 18-19 age range and tried to get valid data from that for the general election.

Good on making some constructive feedback in other threads. But THIS thread is what I was referring to. Beyond proving people wrong, there is nothing constructive about it. It isn't "hey guys the numbers are down, what can we do about it?...", this is a simple troll post to bring about negativity.
So you think you should judge how people spend their money and the fact they might enjoy the game even if it is possibly on a sinking ship? But we shouldn't judge you... Ok.
