Yes but 40v40 isn't exactly what I have in mind with "smaller scale".

10v10 /15v15 CTF & KoTH matches, also 2v2 arena or 2v2v2 ... But most importantly we need a death match type game, no pve non sense.

Go to WoW, their you have your FPS Style PvP.
No need for it in ESO. If you want 4v4 PvP go to Cyrodiil. Use the Board to make up a spot where no Zergs are running and roam up there for Grp PvP.

Worked in DAOC as well, but today every one seems to need an instance that ports you to the action instead of organize it for yourself...

Sorry, you don't get to tell us what we need, nor do you get to tell use to go play a different game.

You don't get to choose how many players you are fighting in Cyrodiil, ever. You could walk up to a guy on a horse to 1v1 only to find 20 of his guild members stealthed around him.

No, I play this MMO precisely because it is not just like every other MMO ever, anything that takes it into the tedious mainstream both risks being dull and brings ESO into direct competition with all those other games.

IMO they are better focusing on perfecting the things that make them different and interesting not on being another clone.

And if ZOS continues to listen to players like you, they will continue to be unpopular in the competitive gaming community.

How many of you are tired of seeing our beloved "The Elder Scrolls Online" towards the BOTTOM of the list on twitch viewers below games like pokemon and zelda???

Adding an option for players that want it doesn't change "your" MMO... it is "our" MMO too. If you don't like small scale pvp...

    YOU DON'T HAVE TO PARTICIPATE

ONLY if they don't screw up the current itemization and balance. But since I know they'll do both, I'm voting no.

Voting no because you believe they couldn't balance it seems silly to me... They already have a hard time balancing AvA, so why not? It would probably be easier.

Yes, I want an arena where you can do 2v2, 1v1, 4v4. You should have to earn arena tokens in cyrodiil. Win-win!

    Taken from DAoC battlegrounds:

The battleground is a small area where all three realms have permanent access and can practice RvR with enemies within their own level range. Right now there are ten Battlegrounds. They are limited to certain levels and to a certain amount of Realmpoints:

There are ten battlegrounds offering realm verses realm conflict for different level ranges, ranging from level 1-4 up to 45-49 where warriors of similar strength can test their skill in warfare. These areas consist of a portal keep for each side as well as a central keep that may be attacked or defended. When you die in a battleground and type "/release", you will be returned to the portal keep instead of your current bind location.

If you wish to return to your bind point instead, you can type /release bind rather than /release. In most cases, you will not lose experience or constitution points when dying in RvR, although you will still have the resurrection sickness for 5 minutes after you release.

Would need name changes, but here is the jist of it:

Starting in Killaloe, you will be able to earn realm points in the battlegrounds, however, there will be a limit to the number of realm points you can earn in each battleground. After you reach this limit, killing any other enemy players will not grant anymore realm points (although you will still be able to participate in the battleground until you exceed the level cap or realm point cap). By using "/xp off" or "/rp off" you can stop yourself from attaining realm points or experience if you wish to stay in a battleground longer.

The level cap and realm point limits for the battlegrounds are as follows:

    Killaloe - Level 19 - Realm Rank 1 Level 2

    Thidranki - Level 24 - Realm Rank 1 Level 4

    Braemar - Level 29 - Realm Rank 1 Level 9

    Wilton - Level 34 - Realm Rank 2 Level 4

    Molvik - Level 39 - Realm Rank 2 Level 9

    Leirvik - Level 44 - Realm Rank 3 Level 9 - Master Level 3

    Cathal Valley - Level 49 - Realm Rank 4 Level 9 - Master Level 5

While inside the Battlegrounds, players can earn one Realm Rank higher than the cap to zone in. Should you exceed this cap and wish to continue your battleground activity, there is a NPC in the capitol cities and within the battlegrounds itself who will offer to REMOVE ALL of your currently accumulated realm points, giving you the chance to level up your realm rank all over again.

I loved the battlegrounds in DAoC, would love to see something similar here.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.

The most fun I've ever had in MMO PvP was Huttball in ToR. Although I do understand peoples concerns that balancing small scale PvP could mess up the large scale PvP and honestly that's a really good point and not something I thought of.

Finally someone who shouts out for huttball! I loved those smaller scale instant queue gamemodes that were more objective based. Somehow my experience with wvw was that it always just degrades into mindless zerging where most people don't even really know how the objective works.

    HUTTBALL!

    It was so much fun.

Sweetie, can you show us on the doll where the bad man from Blizzard touched you?

10vs10, 15vs15... All WOW Players? Istanced RvR sucks!
But i have an idea: I'm ok for implementing arenas but.... but it will not reward you , or very very low ap gain , so it will not break the lore of the Current RvR system because players must play also in Cyrodill if they want to progress in ranks.

Yes! PvP Arenas BUT just for fun, not for mandatory gear or currency.

Also some open RvR areas where anything can happen but only if it's set up to be optional, where ganking/getting ganked is part of the fun without any real griefing.

why do you care about number of twitch viewer of ESO?
do you feel embarrassed playing ESO which has far lower number of viewers?

EVE online has less viewer than any other mmo but doing fine, there has never been small scale instanced pvp and won't be in EVE online.

why? Cuz instanced small scale PVP will ruin their entire " ALLIANCE WAR" stuffs.

i recommend you to play LOL or DOTA2 which is just made for "instanced small scale pvp " if you want organized small scale pvp

Small scale pvp always needed. I dont realy like currecnt Cyrodiil.
It is sometimes getting really boring to spend more time on traveling then fighting, hitting the wall of zergs or take keeps which nobody try to defend.

All small scale in Cyrodiil is a *** of unaware enemys which is not very fun.

The Cyrodiil arena would be an outstanding idea, and I'd love to see it. The problem with arenas though is that someone, or some group, who have no social or work commitments will rise to the top of the leader-boards, leaving little room for any competition.

What I suggest is this; when you sign up for an arena battle, you are given a date and/or a time to participate. Arrive and do battle, or forfeit. Not only are people then judged on fewer battles; and skills, opposed to time served, but it would also mean more to the player to win, or lose.

Matches could be spectated, and even bet on. Even PvE players could attend, just to watch and bet on their favourite Gladiators.

"Got to go. My Gladiator is fighting in 20 minutes. I've bet 30,000g he'll make it to the final."

    Just a thought.

My first MMO was Shadowbane. I love open world PvP, but only if it's done right. I don't like the open world PvP in this game and don't believe it can or will be changed to my preferences, so the next best thing is to hope for instanced PvP that is to my liking.

I do small scale non-zerg pvp in cyrodill all the time. If you don't like the zerg, don't follow it. You may be suprised what is out there.

There are duels and even tournaments all over the place. They are just low key because they are private between two players, or organised to avoid griefers.

I would not be against official systems for this, or even a specialiized reward structure, as long as it doesn't interfere too much with the current system. But as it stands, involvement in small-scale pvp is only limited by immagination and communication.
This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!
