Thornblade (NA) has gone off the deep end

I normally don't say anything about this, not even when the AD oceanic guilds were able to steamroll both factions at night (every night) because no one was on, but this has gotten entirely out of hand.

I logged on today and behold what I saw:
    Screenshot_20140825_154658_zps750c4153.png
"Surely, this must be a mistake" says I. "There must be some kind of bug with the scoreboard."

    Screenshot_20140825_160109_zps104c7721.png
    Nope.

I think we have reached the threshold where some balancing is in order.
Some US guilds, which fled from US-Megaserver presumedly because of lack of skill, now 'steamroll' [EU]-Thornblade at night too. Untill they hit our server, EP has been in a small lead of some hundreds to one thousand points and now, well, see for yourself

    ohfmocwo.jpg

The consequence of that is that DF and AD are losing players by the minute. I totally agree with you that this has gotten entirely out of hand and that Zenimax has to implement some restrictions.
why was Aldmeri in "English" yet DC and EP were in another language?

I stopped playing on Thorn for Chillrend, last week.

Well Pixysticks...I'm on two sides on this statement.

One I'm glad I won't have to be hit by your crazy damage. I haven't seen any other Sorc hit me as hard as you did and I never could get my damage that high either  . I did once manage to beat you in a 1v1 fight. It was only once though haha.

Which brings me to point two because fighting players like you make me a better player in the end. That or I just keep dying. So maybe I'll still see you around!

Haha, thanks I appreciate it. Fun fights as always, hopefully see ya in the 1.4 campaigns.

What they should do is make incremental pvp lockouts.
(These numbers are just pulled from thin air and are not based on how many can actually be in Cyrodiil at the same time)
So for example the limit for Cyrodiil could be 50 players, once all 3 factions have 50 people in the zone the limit is increased to 75, once everyone has 75 it is upped to 100 and so on.
Ofcourse it is an issue if 1 faction suddenly loses 60 players at once, you cant really throw out people from the other factions to make it fair.
The system is far from perfect (and exploitable to some degree but that could be limited by clever devs) but it is definately better than just saying 500 is allowed for all 3.

This is exactly the system I feel should be put in place - some version of it. If ZOS can make this work, I believe it's the most reasonable way to limit off-hours map painting, and should encourage players to spread evenly over different campaigns to avoid one faction overstacking and facing bad queue times. I'd be more than happy with some type of sliding/relative population cap.

If the system for underdogs to get enhanced rewards for things they contributed on their campaign was in then the player base may not have shifted so heavily to 1 side.

I really don't see how you are going to stop this from happening. As long as there is a server that doesn't stay locked 24/7 then there will always be some faction imbalance.

You can't go to Cyrodiil if your faction outnumbers the others by say 5% or more? Gotta wait for a few others from the other factions to join? That would keep population balanced, but it would frustrate people in the queue.

I think a lot of EP and DC guilds went to smaller campaigns. Populations aren't locked like they were in the first two weeks. I play during oceanic times, and there was a lot of opposition on all sides. Maybe being more strict with home campaign transfers would help? What if they took out the ability to guest and allowed one transfer per month? Maybe take one or two more campaigns out of the mix? Take out emporer and former emporer abilities and passives, so people don't migrate to shorter, less populated campaigns to farm? How about they make pvp buffs only apply in Cyrodil, so pve guilds don't jump on less populated campaigns to farm? There are a lot of reasons these campaigns have balance issues. You can't just blame this on oceanic players. I've seen plenty on all sides.

@Syre_Lancaster‌ if it helps you sleep at night. Think of Cyrodiil as "Who's line is it anyway".. the TV show... "the show where everything's made up and the points don't matter".

Cyrodiil is made up and outside of the game the points don't matter. Just play to have fun.. because it is a game.

There in lies the rub, young squire .

No one enjoys or has fun when they are always being steam rolled.

I know of no one that plays a game who wants to feel demoralized or lose consistently

Every PvP game that I have ever played dies off quick when there is no realistic competition

The losing side quits from frustration

The winning side gets bored from winning all the time and quits or gets bored from no one to steam roll and quits

    A. D.omino effect starts then the PvP zone is barren.

Cyrodiil is a huge zone to be barren

So five members of Aldmeri Vice guested onto thornblade tonight...

Question, is all red ever does is farm at Alessia Bridge/Sej? Or sit camping resource points?

DC, on the other hand, actually came at us hard at points.

From blackboot to faregyl, from roebeck to alessia, we fought Aoe BBQ and his buddies for the better part of the afternoon/evening + lots of AD we werent running with, and I assume plenty of DC they werent running with.

Lots of AP to be had, and getting knocked off the Alessia bridge north tower top by Hovaling to my death below was by far the most hilarious thing ive seen in this game to date.

Might have to bring the party van back for round two tomorrow.

"objectives"?..lol at objectives..Objectives that have been nullified by terrain glitching behind closed gates? Objectives that have been made null and void by using speed hacks to run scrolls across the map? Objectives that mean nothing because of healing springs lagging out all sieges?.or maybe you mean the objectives that we fight 8 hours for to be snatched away from us by a grossly overpopulated alliance who is pop locked pretty much 24/7?...

As to the subject of Gold..I have always spent way more than 42k in a campaign multiple times. So that's pretty last year too.

Yes "objectives" are so very 3 months ago. I'm shocked you haven't gotten the memo.

Meh, I just farm AP while I look for another game.

ESO is becoming "so very 3 months ago". With the unbearable lag, frequent crashes, scrollbacks, so many balance issues it's impossible to list them all, bugs, broken skills being abused by the "elite" FOTM build guilds, and completely lopsided campaigns I just reached that point.

I like the game and all, but damn. You can only take so much before you say screw it and move on.

    Didnt see you once.

In fact you dont even show up in my codex, victory or defeat.

Oh and AV isnt an objectives based guild (most of us play in TKO for that sort of PvP), we are too small for that, we are part gank, part support, part trololol. Mostly youd find us near a fight or between spawns looking for people trying to race to a keep. We just happened to keep running into the same blues over and over tonight. Red barely ever. only time other than the last fight at the bridge before we logged was between brk lumber and arrius when we fought like 8 reds with just three of us before the others logged on.

Only when there is nothing else to do do you find us at a keep (like tonight, since the bridge was a lagfest for many of us)

Oh and... if by some chance you did fight me, I was on my suicide templar tonight, so I died a lot. Charge in blazing shield right into a mass of people and just blast away, trying to take as many down as i could before i died. Funzies, testing rotations on the new build XD

Can't be fixed. It's a design problem in a game played by humans.

Only solution is to change the design.

    E.g.
1: Arenas that fire when players sign up evenly (XvX battlegrounds as in other games)
2: Campaigns that fill to cap in a similar way to Arena, without a home campaign, meaning you don't campaign surf.

Not saying they should do these things, just that the surfing problem won't be fixed without it.

And, yet, AD won't do that.

What the zerg wants, apparently, is to drive people out of PvP, fight doors and shut the game down. That's the only outcome when you bring 100 impulse-batspammers to every tiny fight and burn all FCs etc even when camping gates, wipe the opposition you outnumber by 10 to 1 and end the fight.

There's enough leadership to get that massive impulse zerg together in AD. Surely that leadership can suggest that it might not be wise to kill every single fight on the server with a zerg and force everyone out of Cyrodiil?

edit: Note that I don't mean don't come and fight. I mean don't kill the fight.

Zergs go where zergs want. And we try not to kill the fight, but when there's nothing else going on what are we meant to do? PVE in the hopes the other factions show up? Move to another server and have the same thing happen there? Tell us what you want us to do without having to bow to your wishes and just get out of your way.

It's clear there is a huge oceanic crew from EP and AD, but what is it about fighting NPCs instead of players that's so satisfying? I don't understand why both sides of A(p)ussies can't stay on the same campaign and fight each other.

Lol. The Thornblade 'A(p)ussies' as you so elegantly put it, are waiting on Thornblade for a fight. But all I hear is people wanting to punish an entire region of players because they're on the 'wrong' faction on the 'wrong' time.

We have to deal with US servers, US prime times, consistent latency, and we had no choice in the matter. We want to play. We want to have fun. Now we're just faulted for existing in the timezone that works for us.

Maybe you guys could split your massive zerg into 3 different factions and pvp against eachother so you actually have opponents while simultaneously maintaining a healthy zone for everyone to compete in?

Unfortunately, PvP needs to be restricted to 12 hours a day to avoid the lopsided time zone issue. During primetime when all populations are locked, things are very balanced. Once people get off for the night, then AD starts to steamroll.

Explain the logic in this statement plz.

There is no logic, chalk it up to self-entitlement bs

And what makes your entitlement more important than anyone elses? Totally ridiculous, hypocritical argument that I am sick of seeing...

Night capping is destroying pvp competition. It is not entitled to ask that something be done to at least mitigate the problem.

Sad state of affairs for everyone concerned. For those who wish to insult Oceanic players from AD (or DC/EB) - what are they supposed to do? They pay to play like the lot of you. And having the luxury of playing with many of them I can guarantee that they do not like the current state of Thornblade either. It is not as if they enjoy fighting against NPC's and rolling people over and over. Should they all reroll to another faction so that your pixels are not bruised? Why should they move to another campaign when they are invested in gaining AP on Thornblade or where ever they call home?

The current system is not optimal but it is what we have to deal with atm. Stop blaming players and have fun.

It's time for ZOS to incentivize re-rolling to convince the factions to de-stack. Instead of having some large percentage of the playerbase be AD (or EP), it's time to do something along the lines of DAoC's /level.

Have a max level AD toon? Reroll EP and type /level and BAMF! you're 40 with a set of commensurate green gear and an XP boost until max level.

In a faction that typically has underdog status in a campaign? BAMF! There's an AP bonus of X% until Assault/Support trees are both 10.

There's also the option of adjusting the scoreboard points earned during "off-peak" hours. Perhaps an inverse percentage of scoreboard points earned based off how many additional bars you have over your opponents. Have 3 bars vs 1/1? Then you're earning a quarter or less. Triple locked pops? Full points.

Another alternative is strengthening/weakening of guards. Locked vs 1/1 or 2? Guards are murder machines for the lower pops, kittens for the higher population. You have the numbers, go defend the keeps yourselves.

The nature of people is to take the easy road. Always will be. It definitely sucked that we had such a great start to the campaign and the race was pretty even. Then all of a sudden it took a huge turn and AD night capping threw the points out the window. There was absolutely no way that we could keep up with a 2-5k over night point gain.
