Finding out the real value of an item is part of the objective of the market. If someone is "underselling" the item, it only means that it's not worth as much as you hope it is.

The real value of an item is what you are willing to pay for it,

This should be the basic premise, or one of, behind every Anti-AH thread that pops up on here. ZOS won't introduce any kind of AH, they already said they are against it. And so am I. We have NPC vendors already setting minimum prices on stacks of materials. Adding an auction house means your stacks of materials are now worth 401 gold. And since materials are available in unlimited supply (the fact the nodes respawn) and armor does not decay and break (meaning it's not consumed) the AH is a bad idea. It only works in WoW because the gear comes from raids, not crafters.

Yeah, nobody uses them. I can't seem to figure out why I am making 35,000g a week off mine...

Yeah I can't either. I know you're being sarcastic but there's something funny about your statement. I sold something for 15k last night and for the life of me I have no idea what it was because the sales receipt doesn't tell me. And no, I don't have that shop keeper addon.

If I see them while I am traveling around I will stop to take a look. But I won't travel out of my way to go to one. They are too scattered around, and most of them are selling white gear and junk items.

You mean like, cheap white items with traits...perhaps? Almost as if...they were selling the traits?

The current system of having to run around to different kiosks is horrible, imho. It is simply a ridiculous waste of time to visit more than a few kiosks to find what you are looking for. The result is that people simply don't find what they are looking for. How is that good for anyone?

Sure. It's a waste of time for the "On demand" mindset that most MMO'ers have nowadays. Instant gratification was the spawn of the Auction House.
Some people enjoy the bargaining and the "economy" side of an MMO. So your "waste of time" is someone's happy investment.

The current kiosk system protects the economy from players like myself.
I sell to move. I dont want anything in a store for more than 3 days, preferably twelve hours. I sell things low, low, low and I am in a few 490+ guilds where the prices are bargains anyways.
I bargain hunt. I never, ever buy a stack of ingots or refined cloth for over 700g a stack. I watch for tempers and resins to go below the norms of the store and snap them up.
So last night I hit every kiosk in Nirn except two or three in Pact that I havent discovered the wayshrines for yet. I was specifically hunting blue recipes level 10 thru 35. I bought three, each less than 750g. Kiosk after kiosk had these blues at 2,500g all the way up to 4,500g. I bought a purple drink recipe for 1,750g. I barely glanced at the purples going for 18,000g or even 45,000g. The purple I bought is on sale by a guild mate for 25,000g.
If there was a global auction house, all the inflated prices on everything would plummet. There are hardcore crafter toons out there that could drop the research market down to 150g per item. There are guilds out there with 500 or more elegant linings and if they thought they could use the money, those would hit the market.
Believe me, after visiting every kiosk, purple recipes are not rare. They are everywhere. I've seen some kiosks with twenty listed and any decent store has at least two. The level 35's are almost as common as toilet paper and yet they list for 9,000g or more. Blue level 20 to 35 recipes are also ubiquitous. If there were a global auction house all these prices would start dropping, probably in half if not less.
If you are a crazy buyer, a global auction house is something you want. If you want to sell your VR1 Signet of the Warlock for 7,000g, you do not want a global auction house.

Not going to happen in this game so long as crafters are the one providing the gear.

"You make it sound like your opinion is the only one that matters."

No, I don't. I say it like its the opinion of the player base. I believe it is the opinion of the player base because there have been many, many threads and polls on this topic that in my opinion makes it painfully obvious that most people *on these forums* would prefer an auction house.

You miss the mark here. A minority of people who play this game are the people who come to these forums to voice grievances. The majority are in game playing, enjoying it and having a good time. A minority of people care enough to come here and flame all day.

Let me give an example. Even the most "trending" of threads here, and i'll use the "who's the hottest NPC in the game" thread as an example, has ~12k views. In addition, only ~23k people actually viewed the last set of patch notes.

Compare those numbers to how many subscribers ESO has...last I checked over ~750k.

Unfortunately because so many people use the forums to vent frustration it only appears that a majority align with the ideals represented here. However I assure you, in most cases, the forums do not represent what a majority the player base is thinking.

Hey there, folks. As this thread is very old (August last year), we will be closing it. We encourage everyone to use our Search Function, but do ask that you keep in mind the age of a thread when replying to it, as often there are newer, more up-to-date discussions in which you can share your opinion.
