And Dwemer don't belong on that list, they're long extinct by the time of ESO.

that is not entirely correct. as of now in the timeframe of ESO there is at least one Dwemer Left in Tamriel. He lives beneath Dyvth Fyr. In Morrowind. As for the Dwemer being extinct. The in game or specifies That they disappeared. It did not actually say that they were all dead.

    Maomer ("The Sea Elves")
Unfortunately I have to retract Snow elves as a viable choice, one unfortunate event makes it clear the Chantry is already gone. Gelebor claims that Vyrthur was corrupted by the Falmer. We know the prophecy Vyrthur made when he was a vampire was made in the First age, because that is when the Volkihar got hold of it.

So yes the Chantry has unfortunately already fallen :/ That means the possibility of playable Snow elves rely on other possibly holdouts.

That is not correct, ESO predates Dagoth Ur and the Corprus disease. So Yagrum Bagarn is a very healthy Dwemer, and thus not in the Coprusarium.

None of those make sense as a playable race. Keep the same races that we have now, and have had in every other TES game.

Maromer, If there had to be one.

But I'd like to see more of a elemental mage (though spell crafting will change this). I love playing my NB and don't really like having to raise other classes (though when Champion system comes out I plan on getting all classes to level 50). I wanted a sorcerer that was fire, ice and like alteration.

Not only that I kinda hope there are more elements to use with spell crafting, fire/frost/shock gets kinda old, always wanted air and water (there are air artonatchs)

    you forgot an option: NONE
although I would like to meet em all as npc's in eso, some we already have (like the last Kothringi in shadowfen) or should have already met (like the Imga who live in valenwood and most of that has been explored, no Imga)
    but NO new playable races

I'm affraid any additions of other races would be hard to include from a Lore point of view.
The only race that would make sense is the Maomer, but considering that we already have the Dunmer, Bosmer and Altmer, a fourth Mer race is really not needed.

I'm happy with the choice we have.

Maybe more variant, like someone suggested, several sub-races of the Khajiit would be nice.

None. Is enough what we already have. No modification necessary in this point. I see, most players in this game only play this because the first contact he have with the Elder Scrolls lore was in Skyrim... I play Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, and i love the lore and the time line. But i dont feel in the TESO like i playing an Elder Scrolls Game 100%. Is something similar a Age of Conan, something like that. Is just my opinion. And, how we say in my country, opinion is like buttocks, everyone has one.

Any race from other continents. The only reason they are not in all ports in all TES games is the lack of time for development of something they are possibly saving for a future installment. Maomer is the only one on that list that I can see is non-problematic. Akiviri would need a lot of writing to reflect the prejudice and downright hostility they would receive in certain quarters. But the reality is ports on trading routes would have been infested with 'others' since boats were invented.

As this game is based in Tamriel, I would like to see the variety increase over time; not just limited to a few. For the record though, all of these are great:
    Dwemer ("The Deep Elves")
Falmer ("The Snow Elves") - Uncorrupted
    Maomer ("The Sea Elves")
    Ayleid ("The Wild Elves")

However to note, the Snow Elves and Falmer are distinct; the Falmer being the corrupted Snow Elves and not one in the same, the two remaining being seen in Skyrim (the game). I like the option of the Dwemer and Snow Elves as though both exist at this time in the history of the franchise; although the last Dwemer noted in Morrowind (the game) may be the only one since the disappearance.
    Baskin Robbins always finds out.

OKs to be an Ayleid then a certain character endgame gives a speech to you while dying. Well, it would just be game-breaking. Coldharbour would need a massive rewrite as would at least one Glenumbra quest. Only Maomer can be integrated without massive re-writes and even then they could only play Pact or Covenant at a stretch. Without rewrites. (See what I did there, I re-wrote rewrite with a re write).

That's not true. Falmer means Snow Elf, just like Altmer means High Elf, Dunmer means Dark Elf, Bosmer means Wood Elf, etc. Falmer was the name for the Snow Elves long before they accepted the protection of the Dwemer and became twisted into the corrupted Falmer who we are used to seeing in Elder Scrolls games.

Guys, can we please do a little lore research before posting threads about new races?

If you don't know much about lore, that's fine. But it's pretty much the only thing that should be considered when adding races, and when you say things like "Maybe the Dwemer aren't gone," it shows that you could have easily saved everyone's time by reading up on these things online.

Which ones are extinct? I'm not a lore expert by any means but I included these on the list for the following reasons:

Dwemer - Could be not extinct. They simply have not been seen. They mysteriously disappeared. This would allow them to be included in the game if a proper explanation was given.

Riekling - Definitely not extinct in Second Era. From Solstheim. Evidence of the capacity for intelligence at the level of men and mer.
Or if not Riekling, even Goblin - In ESO (Extinct in Third Era)

I also am not sure why people are set in stone with what we know of the lore so far.

Dwemer are gone, may or may not be extinct, but they are gone, might reappear after dragonborn game, but not before.

Riekling do NOT have the same intelligence as men, they are feeble minded, intelligence barely above that of a dog (which is not that high BTW).
Ditto for goblin, in fact they may be the same race.

As for being set in stone in regards to lore, not quite, we don't want existing lore to be broken, but are quite welcoming to new lore. New additions welcome, but don't destroy our lore, it's the foundation on which the story is supposed to be based.

    Akaviri please.

    Dwemer ("The Deep Elves")
Falmer ("The Snow Elves") - Uncorrupted
    Maomer ("The Sea Elves")
    Ayleid ("The Wild Elves")
    Spriggan
    Riekling
    Imga ("The Ape Beastfolk")
    Lilmothiit ("The Fox Beastfolk")
    Kothringi ("The Metal Men")

Out of these options, Maormer is the only real possibility.
Dwemer are gone, I'ld like Snow Elves but unlikely, Ayleids are bred into Altmer and Bosmer, Spriggan is a wild creature (not intelligent), Rieklings are barely sentient, Kothringi are extinct, as probably are Imga and Lilmothiit.

The Imga are definitely not extinct. As of the writing of the Pocket Guide to the Empire, First Edition in 2E 864 (several hundred years after the time of ESO) they are members of the Aldmeri Dominion, with a civilization emulating that of the Altmer, who they see as their lords and an example of a near-perfect society.

Of the ones you listed, Maomer are the only option that's viable.

I swear, someone posts this same poll every month, every time with a list of non-viable races. No one ever includes Akaviri on the list. I wonder why that is. Not saying I want to play one; I just don't understand why the never make anyone's cut.

The Bretons could almost be considered a race of elves too, considering that they are the descended from both elves and men. Too much non-elf blood in them to really consider them a race of elves though.
