So you would rather never know the (any?) mystery because you're so certain that it can only be a let down. That's a very dire out look.

No, that is storytelling 101. Why do you think things like the Mary Celeste, D.B. Cooper, Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa, are so popular and well known. Because even though, in many of those cases, the reasons are very likely one thing or another, they remain unsolved. This sparks the imagination and keeps people interested.

Sure, it's very likely Earhart and her copilot died on this small reef and their bodies were eaten by coconut crabs. Earhart's skeleton may have been found some time ago and subsequently lost, while what remains of her copilot's skeleton has probably been recovered. But we can't truly prove it.

None of those mysteries would be interesting at all if they had solid answers. Who cares if some mob boss is killed and buried in an unmarked grave? But if he disappears at a key time and no one ever figures out what happens...

My point is, mysteries are a lot more fun than answers.

Also, in parting, I would like to show you what a coconut crab actually looks like...

I may be able to deal with seeing Krothingi and Limothiit as exceptionally rare NPCs but certainly not as a playable race.

Nearly every other option would either bend the lore or break it entirely.

    Btw...

    1. Dwemer is by far not established as extinct, they simply disappear without a trace leaving one who don't even know what happen himself. But, the fact that our ESO hero killed by Mannimarco and worm-cult means that vestige is not that last Dwemer...and the fact that no one surprised to see the vestige, he/she can't be logically a dwemer. Don't even ask about NPC, as it's even more illogical.

    2. Ayleids assimilated with Altmer, that makes them Altmer...and yes, they look identical, so really no points.

    3. Spriggan? don't mix this game with other games lore. Do you ever see any Spriggan running around carrying sword and using armor in TES series? you don't respect the lore at all.

    4. Maormer...well, at least it's not much illogical with this one, though like Dwemer part, it's kinda weird to see one Maormer (yes, vestige is logically just one person, by using main story logic...he/she is basically one that can do almost everything) running around on being friendly on the whole continent, and no one seems surprised or amazed or anything.

I would rather they fix daedric armor art than adding new race.

Ayleids were assimilated by Altmer and Bosmer, meaning that their bloodlines continue in both elven races.

Also wouldn't be surprised if they didn't also breed into the Dunmer bloodlines too.

Akaviir ? Would have to be an expansion though. Can't imagine one strolling through Windhelm any time soon.

Actually, according lore, they should be seen in Tamriel at this time. The last ruler of the empire was the Akaviri Potentate and Remans granted amnesty to the survivors of the first invasion that became the Dragon Guard. All things Akaviri were in en vogue during the end of the 1st era/beginning of the 2nd. Also, they are very long lived (possibly vampires) as the Akaviri Potentate ruled for 400 years. I was actually hoping to see some in Tamriel when I first starting playing the game.

But as a playable race, maybe you're right, however having another period of contact with the Akaviri isn't really lore friendly either, so I'm not sure how that could be handled...

While I would love to play a Dremora (I have kind of a thing for them... see my latest Skyrim mod), and can even imagine reasons why one Dremora would defect from a Daedric lord and live on Nirn and get involved with the "little mortals," having hundreds of players running around as Dremora would not really work. That same reasoning goes for Akaviri, Dremer, Falmer and most other races listed as well.

Those Dremora are sexy! Great mods are great.

But yeah - hundreds of people running around as Dremora? Wouldn't bother me personally, I'd just imagine I can only see the, likely few, role-playing Dremora and not see the 'Y0l0Sw@gg1n$-Dr3m0r@' that may or may not be present.

It's inevitable anyway. It may not be within five years, maybe not even ten. But I will have my female Dremora, she will be great, Zeni shall give me my playable Dremora.

I would want to see the Dwemer. Dwemer could be the remnants of their race. there is already precedent for Dwemer to still be in Tamriel if you refer to the Dwemer in Morrowind.

It could make for an interesting and tragic story with us being able to enjoy the last of a great and dying race...that is if they actually died. Maybe those left in Tamriel would have merely been left behind.

How about half races? Half orc, half elf.. ect. An Argonian Khajiit? There shouldn't be any lore issues since I have seen plenty of quests already of interracial love interests... Though I guess there not being any half breeds in later games I guess could be an issue....eh, what can you do?

The only one that really makes any sense isn't on the list and that's Dremora.

Any added on race would have to be available to all three factions. Since Dremora are generally beholden to some Daedric prince or another, but not unknown to go rogue, a Dremora could, in theory, break away and join one of the other three factions.

Now, what would be super slick is if they added a fourth faction based on the Daedric Servants; Saints, Seducers, and Dremora. Give them their own outer-planes newbie zones.

With a few exceptions (that are probably the result of magic) there aren't any half races in TES. While the various races of men and mer can interbreed (not sure if this holds true for the beast races), the children have the characteristics of only one of the parents. It seems to be something along the lines of the genes from one parent acting as if they are recessive, while the genes of the other parent act as if they are dominant. Having said that, given enough time and enough of an interbreeding population, races can merge and effectively become a new race. That's certainly what happened with the Bretons, who are mostly descended from men, but have some traits of mer.

Actually, there are plenty of posts showing why adding certain specific races as playable would violate lore. There is not a single post showing how adding any race would violate lore no matter the race.

You know why there isn't a single post showing that? Because there are absolutely several races that could be added without violating lore. Maormer are one. Imga are another. Akaviri are another. The other Khaajit breeds are still others.

So before you make disparaging remarks about the intelligence of others, perhaps you should examine your own post, because your post was the one that was stupid. Thinking "adding race X violates lore, and adding Y race violates lore, therefore there isn't any race at all that can be added without violating lore" is, frankly, ridiculous.

No. No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

How many times does it need to be said? The existence of one Dwemer in Morrowind does not mean that it's possible there were hundreds of thousands of them gallivanting around Tamriel after their disappearance. Yes, the Dwemer didn't necessarily die out. Yes, no one is sure exactly what happened to them. But the only thing that anyone (including the only surviving Dwemer) is sure of is that they aren't in Mundus.
