So... Are People Just Exploding Now?

    Dear guys,
    batswarm already hit me for 700+ and very often for 1000+ even before patch.. and long before... What you see now is the result if a too cautiously and innefectively done vampire-nurf/.++ --> now you meet whole teams of vampires, DKs, etc. FAST regging ultimates and using their synergies, cause it is and has already too long been one of the most effective ways to play this game designed too much around ultimates and not capping imbalanced ways of doing dmg in pvp. The next 2-3 months NB, a class which wad already strong, will be op, no matter if they tweak down a little bit more these broken skills mentioned here.

    I just logged onto my level 49 NB and attacked some NPCs with Ambush. My addon 'Combat Cloud' is color coding what kind of damage I do and it is showing the damage dealt by Ambush as "magic damage".

    So I have to ask you what your source of information is that makes you saying Ambush is dealing physical damage? Or, as I presume, did you simply guess that is has to be physical damage because it is a 'melee attack'?

    - Zenimax implements more bugs from patch to patch
    - Zenimax does not care about the increasing instability of the game. People have more and more crashes Fix of memory bug decreased number of crashes considerably
    - Zenimax has still not fully fixed the fps drops they (!) implemented with patch1.2.3
    - Zenimax does nothing to fix the massive ability lags in PvP
    - Zenimax gives more attention to unnecassary 'content' like dyes for armors than fixing issues
    - In patchnotes Zenimax lies about bugs allegedly fixed
    - Zenimax has no plan as to how balance population in Cyrodiil campaigns
    - Support is ineffective and does not even speak in a way one can linguistically understand

    Yes i am sure.

    Check the following video. It is not about ambush, but about templar puncturing strikes. Puncturing strikes however too deals 'magic damage', so they are equivalent in this sense.

    (If you still don't believe it, you can take advantage of the cheap respecs, pick up 1H skill puncture which debuffs armor, and ambush a mob before and after the debuff is applied)

    Ive had several instances when i go from full health + damage shield to instant death without even being visually attacked. Sometimes death recap says nothing, some times it says i was hit by a seige weapon. But there was no seige weapon. Death recap is useless. Ive been 1 shot by an attack that did 47 damage apparantly.

    Ambush deals magic damage modified by physical resistances and stats.

    Ambush crits based on weapon crit rather than spell crit.
    Ambush has damage increased by reducing or negating target armour, rather than by the target's spell resistance.

    My Ambush hits for 361 base damage with no crit or sneak attack bonus. It hits for 375 after using Surprise Attack to reduce 40% of target's armour.

    By contrast, Strife is impacted by spell crit and spell resistance.
    My strife hits for 409 with no crit. It still hits for 409 after using Surprise Attack to reduce 40% of target's armour.

    The last game that saw a greatly decreased TTK like this was SWTOR with the 1.2 patch and it turned PVP into a pure frag fest. Even fully defense specced tanks died in just a few seconds. No one could heal through it. Everything became an alpha strike slugfest, seeing who could blow people out of their boots the fastest.

    ESO already has enough alpha strike issues with ulti drops, but this is making it ridiculous. I want some level of tactical combat, not insta gib messes that go to the biggest zerg.
    This. I remember 1.2 in SWTOR. I don't think it is as bad as that yet, but I do agree TTK is too low at the moment. Fully specced tanks die way too quickly. Mitigation from armor and spell resist is frakking useless. I made a thread about it as well recently.

    Well, thanks for your answer. But besides from what kind of damage Ambush is doing, 2830 damage is a little bit too much. Do you agree?

    In playing around with testing just now I was able to produce 2200+ sneak attack openers with Ambush III.
    2800+ seems a little unusual, but I'm also not fully specced for Magicka and Spell Damage, so I'm not going to say it's impossible to attain legitimately.

    I've seen bugged players hitting for 7k+ and have been hit for 18k+ with Flying Blade.
    Under 3k still seems reasonable to me.

    This issue still seems to be present.

    I have a theory that instancing is the culprit.

    I have encountered to.es when I would have full health and not see anyone (friendly or foe) nearby then all of a sudden I can hear attacks but see nobody. My health bar remains full for the entirety of the "fight" then bam, death recap pops up because I am dead. Once laying dead on the ground, people start showing up (friendly and foe).

    It's not under controle and Zenimax actually doesn't care that much about pvp atm. They still have to fix issues from the beta (Patchnotes). This is actually a small content patch, a Vr14 timestretch and a bugfix. The really huge issues in the game are existing since gamelaunch.

    I also hear no sound when lethal arrow hits me and my hp is still shown as full. As soon as the second lethal arrow leaves the bow... the dmg is shown to me and i spam heal and shield but die anyway. Everything hits you all at once even though it was fired time by time so u cant do anything about it.

    I also had some 1on1s where i thought i had full health but died instantly and on the death recap nothing hit me for more than 300 from one player. Truly a joke here... beta actually had better performance.

    Really, the overall performance of the game has been rather sub-par since 1.2.3

    Hopefully threads like this don't ultimately result in damage nerfs. When a exploit/bug doesn't occur it's a giant turtlefest out there. Most the time my combat log is full of player absorbed x with replenishing barrier.

    A few reason you see 1 shots :
    Hp desync (it's mostly this)
    Blazing shield stacking
    Snipes/uppercuts bypassing damage absorption shields remaining value and doing damage as if you had 0 armor.

    Every class having unbreakable ccs now isn't helping the cause.

    this is true, also the bug with spell resist/armor being completely bypassed with ~40% penetration is the major factor of why people are getting 1 shot. if they only fixed it, but you know how fixing bugs goes.

    I just witnessed a NB onehitting two other players, than he onehitted me with "Ambush" for 2830. I call it onehit because I have 2800 life and it would have onehitted me even without the other three hits. ;)

    I never before was hit by Ambush with anything nearly as high as 2831. As far as I remember 1700 was the highest number before. Btw: I had no Reapers Mark or other debuffs on me I have 2077 Magic resistance !!!

    I'm not saying that the NB did cheat/exploit/hack or whatever, I'm just saying THIS IS TO MUCH! Zenimax did something stupid again and messed up the game a little further than before. Fix it!
    Sharee said it perfectly. One of the things that took me forever to figure out with my own melee-class-skill Nightblade was that Assassin's Blade, Teleport Strike, Veiled Strike, and Death Strike (along with their associated morphs) use WEAPON CRIT and work against your ARMOR rating, while still using Spell Damage.

    It's my understanding that there are good reasons for it being wierd like this, but it's EXTREMELY counter-intuitive when you're building your first character (like me) and don't have a clear grasp on how the stats work.

    Cost me a ton of gold in respec and gearing costs when I figured it out. So, heads-up there. :)

    Got hit today by an 4397 dmg ambush and died instantly of course.

    The NB claimed that the damage wont reset after relog, means he is convinced that this is not an exploit but achievable with his "one-shot-setup". He did report his own dmg though, because he thinks the damage is not intended.

    There has been a few times were i've been at like 1900-2000 hp, and i've instantly died and the death log doesn't display anything remotely close to that damage.

    Nah , this is L2P issue . I bet that if you had one handed weapon and shield to use Puncture , Low Slash , Defensive Posture , etc , and ofc builded up your ultimate , this would never happened to you ...

    I know, I know... /hangsheadinshame

    The hints have already taught me that I need to use Aspect of Terror against burning oil! This has helped me greatly. I am confident the burning oil is now shaking in it's cauldron upon the sight of me!
