You can tell the poll is pointless when even the TC votes the pointless option :|
The point of the poll is to discuss. Just like most of the polls on the forums, it's for fun. Sorry if your life sucks so much that you have to whine about forum polls.

Something to strive for, a way to improve your character(s), to have something others do not/cannot have is certainly one of the elements that keeps people attached to an MMOG*. The other probably most important element being the social connections, the guild members and friends you regularly play and chat with. Shared activities with or against other players in a constant, enduring virtual world (there is a reason why so many people prefer the 30 day campaign to the shorter ones).

Something to do on the side, which is one of the benefits I enjoyed in World of Warcraft even though it has gotten stale over the years; at least they know how to keep players attention with multiple varieties of content. Blizzard figured that out quickly that not everyone wants to do end-game content that involves massive grouping such as raiding or mass PvP. Casual players would like to stay on, but don't want to invest too much resources in something they may not find interesting. Unfortunately this game doesn't have anything at the end of game content that fits for those individuals like daily quest hubs that you can do solo or in a group OPTIONALLY, rather than being mandatory as they did with Craglorn and continue to push in the next major update.

Blizzard also made group dungeons complex enough that you can't just stand there spamming nonstop and win, but also easy enough that it gives some leeway for 1 or 2 people to suck and still do okay which is why they went with 5 players so if you have 1 dps that is really sucking it doesn't drag the rest of the group down. This game however, making groups max out at 4 with a tank and healer means everyone needs to be good at what they're doing or else if you have one person not pulling their weight you all fail, there's no leniency in it.

Not being able to queue up for all dungeons at the same time is also rather annoying, I liked that about WoW, I didn't mind waiting half an hour to form a group when it would put together a FULL party instead of this half-ass system of putting you with the next available person on the list, you end up with multiple incomplete groups. Questing in dungeons also need to be open to everyone regardless of when they entered, when the group is already 2/3 the way in, the person joining in starting from the beginning should be able to catch up. I would like it if dungeons also had daily quests within them so you have a reason to run them again each day instead of going for that 1 skill point and stopping.

chasing items or gear is not a bad idea keeps giving the players something to do but if the only thing you have each update is to grind for gear it gets boring really quick. The constant carrot on a stick is why I left FF14 ARR.

As a cat, there's only one obvious poll choice for me. I am disappointed with your lack of options. I would have liked to have seen fish, rats, lizards, rabbits, frogs and birds as poll choices.

I play ESO because they allow me slow immersive progression in a beautiful MMO. I sometimes just log on to run around and collect herbs and crafting nodes. Other times, I quest and group up for world bosses and dolmens. And yet other days I play a bit of pvp. But those are just a few things I can do in this game. I can hunt achievements, I can craft for myself or others. I can do dungeons and delves. You get out of ESO what you make of it. If you choose to fly through the game to get to max level, you will grow bored very quickly, and end up on this forum complaining about the game that there is not enough content. Or you can enjoy the game for what it is.

I'd rather be able to obtain top gear in a reasonable fashion, and chase achievements, rare dyes, and things that don't impact my ability to do content when I have the time to do it.

You don't have to, armor in this game is for all intents and purposes, optional. Reason, I have been going along in Coldharbor with Broken Armor that offered me no protection (Armor was at about 100 where normally it was over 1500) and I survived just fine.

Just kill mobs, take the loot. If there is gear in the drop that is better than what your wearing, then put it on. No problem. If not, take it back to town and sell it, or deconstruct it or research it. This is what I did on my first two characters until I got crafting built up. I actually kind of miss it, as now I do Crafted Sets and I hate breaking a set for a new piece of shiny.

Anyway, the game provides in many ways, just take advantage of it. You never have to buy or chase gear in this game, except maybe at the higher levels of PvP or PvE (and not really even for PvE)

Well, my goal is to compete at max level in PvP. I do not want to be disadvantaged just because I didn't grind for hundreds of hours. Getting to the max level is enough of a grind. Then getting the armor is another grind. All are fine the first time, but when they plan to force you to do it over and over just to compete, then I have a problem.

I have given you suggestions to avoid the grind that you don't want to do, and they work. It's up to you to either use those suggestions or to just whine about how things are not just given to you because you show up.

Back in the day , i liked the whole gear treadmill thing , but now i dont have that kind of patience anymore.

I hope zen keep their promise about the whole crafting and gear, so that the game progression wont become WoW 2.0 with the seasonal gear and only a few going into the trials to get them.

Silver platter? Tell that to all the vr12 players who's gear just became second class. I guess they got that handed to them?

The gear grind is something that adds to the game, like every other activity. So long as I am not required to dedicate a significant portion of my time to grinding up new gear in order to play, but instead if it comes naturally through play (eventually) I'm fine with it.
