Patch 1.4 has some nice changes. Bows get some nice buffs, Uppercut costs a lot less, and light armor gets a slight nerf to its spell penetration (1-2%).
None of this seems to come close to making heavy as good as light, and we likely won't see it live for a month anyway. In fact, the change to light might actually make it more attractive, since reduced spell penetration by attackers in light armor will probably mean that light armor's spell resistance is actually going to be more effective (relatively speaking) in protecting defenders from class skills. If you're going to nerf light's spell penetration, you also need to nerf it's Spell Resistance at the same time.
So sadly, after holding out since beta, I am finally giving in, joining the zerg and grabbing some light armor. I'll check back in in a month and see if there is any hope for heavy even on the horizon.
