Hi people. I originally posted this on teso-rp.com and while some reading this couldn't give a whit about role-playing, you still might enjoy that with the use of the Spidersilk Gem you can look like a goblin, fight as a goblin and it's just cosmetic, causes no gameplay issues, all emotes and combat works fine as a goblin and it provides no tactical advantage on the PvP field.
Role-playing within the Elder Scrolls cosmology is something many do and to see a reduction in the role-play content is pointless and can not possibly encourage the role-play subscriber base. I certainly enjoy role-play and have found there are many excellent ways the ESO team has made it easy and feel immerse to do so.
Some even role-play as goblins and while i do not, I think it's kinda cool that some do it. I don't but some do and when it happens, I tend to roll with it. It's kinda cool. Well, after having some difficulty with one of my items vanishing, I was informed that the "Spidersilk Gem" was NEVER intended to be kept after the mission "A Goblin's Affection" is completed.
Regardless of what was intended, I feel that having these as Trophys at the end of the mission, is a very cool and fun item for many and DEEPLY promotes RP in a game that often struggled to provide RP choices and options, or even dare I ask, props.
Here's the email, claiming that in the next patch, all our lovely Shadowsilk Gems are going to go poof:

Hi Trish!
I'm really sorry to hear about your missing Shadowsilk Gems. I completely understand how frustrating it is to have an item removed so suddenly from your inventory, as many players have kept the gem through their adventures in Tamriel as sort of a collectors piece because of how unique the transformation effect is.
However, this was not an item intended to be kept after the completion of the quest A Goblin's Affection. Like many other transformations your character will go through during their journey to reclaim their soul from Molag Bal, they are meant to be temporary. In the case of the Shadowsilk Gem, an unintended bug has kept this item from disappearing from players inventories and was allowing players to hold onto its effects long after then was intended. The gem should properly disappear in a fix within an upcoming patch.

Now, the fill thread was a lot longer taking three GMs to make it to Brandon, and only to give me an answer that seemed to indicate the further attrition of fun items we can use for role-play within the world of ESO. At a time when all o fus are paying a monthly when most games are free-to-play, I do not feel the answer is to remove something that has no mechanical impact on our game-play and provides victimless enhancement.
I hope this reaches the attention of management who can look at this issue and say to us, "We will not be removing any cosmetic objects from the world, but adding more." We at TESO-RP.com would appreciate it.
Thank you,
