Anything to wean people off of that embarrassment called Windows.

If this is your attempt at humor, I'd say that because of the OpenGL rendering engine already in place in the OS X client, and the recent move to Steam, with Valve being strong supporters of the GNU/Linux platform, the chances of there ever being a Linux client aren't exactly zero. It's just a question of demand, and of effort/ROI ratio.
If you weren't kidding, please forget I said anything at all. Move along, there's nothing to see here. ^_^

I really do want to play it in linux, but it's not a particularly serious post.

I really want to get rid of Windows. It's awful, and I am tired of shelling out cash to Microsoft every few years when their best product was long ago (windows xp.)
I implore you, make ESO work with linux. I want to switch and running ESO through an emulator would probably be ridiculously laggy.
You already made it compatible with MAC, and no one actually uses that, at least not people that matter.
You promised us we could play how we want, and I want to play ESO on Linux.

And you expect them to make it so it doesn't work somewhere else properly.
LMFAO!
Now, what they would target for optimizations would be a completely different beast. XOrg, Wayland, Mir; What libs or provided ones; etc... That would be the interesting thing to see.

You want to be a bit careful.
