About as big of a threat as Wildstar was.
Minimal effect. People play more than one game at a time. ESO already has it's "foothold". What your missing from your equation is the news that ESO puts out at the same time.

For example. My own game time in ESO has slipped this last few weeks because they released a new version of Dungeon Defenders. Not everyone's cup of tea but, for me, one of the most addictive games I've ever playedInstead of playing ESO for 4 hours a day, I now play 2 with the other 2 allotted for DDE.

Actually I watched the near 2 hour video about this games future so I know full well what promise there is. I am aware people play more than one game at any one time. You are right, ESO does already have a foothold yet that is mostly from loyal fans such as I who have followed the series and love it. I have my misgivings on this game in its present state but I actually REALLY want this game to fly, and that means it needs MORE than casual MMO gamers and ESO fanatics. Its subscribers need to rival WoW in its heyday, and surpass it. [btw, never played WoW just FTY :P ] Hench why I am pensive about the situation as is.

You and I may know full well what is coming, but the general player and certainly general public don't. The actual release news of those features is what will break through.
As you point out, "ESO does already have a foothold yet that is mostly from loyal fans". All the more reason why there hasn't anything to worry about. LOYALTY.
No game will ever rival WOW in it's hey day. Including WOW. Too much competition and choice.

Good point. Do you mean a new version of the dungeon defender game they had as a games with gold on xbox live? Yea, I know what you mean about addictive and I tried that for a while yet the constant grind eventually just got to me. I do understand what you mean but the thing is some of the titles coming soon can rival many MMOs longevity. [Some have 100s of hours of content]

The last MMO who appeared was Wildstar, and it did not hurt ESO. The next few titles that are due to be released are going to be free 2 play games and those will attract a lot of attention, but as ESO is Pay 2 Play it wont be too bad. There are a great majority of players who prefer the Pay 2 Play model, me included. Mostly from what iv seen of Arch Age being more of pay 2 win model, no thanks. lol.
ESO is in a good position, but currently the game has to many bugs and core issues that needs fixing. Instead of focusing their resources on fixing those bugs they are instead working on adding more content, which only introduces more bugs and issues. If ESO does not FIX their game then it will be doomed at the first good MMO that is released. It may already be to late as more people are loosing faith.
Bugs:
1: Passives and Active abilities that are not working as intended.
2: Gear that are not working as intended.
3: Spell Penetration not working as intended (or if it is needs to be changed)
4: Damage Shield stacking that have additional properties like Harness Magicka and Blazing Shield.
5: Unbreakable Stuns.
6: Many Many more bugs.
Other Key issues:
1: Stamina Weapon and stamina build.
2: Blocking balancing
3: Forward Camp fast travel in PvP
4: Class balancing. (No nerfs are needed, but a few slight tweaks)
5: Worthless traits on gear.
6: Many Many more issues.
Adding content while the above issues are not addressed wont help the game, but destroy it.

ESO has already been out a while meaning people looking to pick up a game will be able to buy it on a discount, plus with all the updates and the justice coming out by then it will give people more of a reason to try. I think Fall and Winter will see an influx of new and returning players.

Plus when they finally release consoles there will be another influx but that won't help us over here because we won't be playing with them.

Some may already have arranged a transferal, PC games are infinitely more mod-able true as it is, but some have social commitments they would prefer to keep. As for sales when ESO does go on console, here is hoping you're right. The games early life may have damaged those.

It hasn't. I am active on their Facebook and there is about 30 new posts a day asking about console release. People are losing their minds over it.

30 a day...I would not call that "losing their minds" In actual fact its a bit lukewarm if you ask me. Had you said 3000, or 30,000 or heck, even 300, that would be more like it. But 30 is a bit worrisome.
