I hope your right. Wish I had your faith.
Plus when they finally release consoles there will be another influx but that won't help us over here because we won't be playing with them.
Some may already have arranged a transferal, PC games are infinitely more mod-able true as it is, but some have social commitments they would prefer to keep. As for sales when ESO does go on console, here is hoping you're right. The games early life may have damaged those.
It hasn't. I am active on their Facebook and there is about 30 new posts a day asking about console release. People are losing their minds over it.
30 a day...I would not call that "losing their minds" In actual fact its a bit lukewarm if you ask me. Had you said 3000, or 30,000 or heck, even 300, that would be more like it. But 30 is a bit worrisome.
You worry about everything. ;-)

The facebook page is like the forums a very very very very small percent of people look at it. Your dooming and glooming over nothing. Want more numbers? FF14 is considered a huge success has released on PC,PS3, and PS4, and has around 500,000 subs. Last numbers we got where around 772,000 and that's only releasing on PC. That was also before the steam sale which saw yet another influx of players. I have seen more "Im coming back" posts in the past month vs the "I Quit" posts. This past content also another small influx and a lot of people I have seen talking are waiting for the justice system and then will be coming back. So get your panties out of that knot and quit worrying.
The games you mentioned and the consoles are single player opportunities. ESO is an MMO, therefore no big threat as they attract totally different player groups.

1. This thread is NOT dooming and glooming. You mistake recognising obvious faults and potential threats for throwing in the towel. I am committed to this MMO much as I am another one that is much older yet I hold a similar love for the world. If this were dooming and glooming I would write ESO off, I do not, I say it has a tough road ahead, and it would be an idiot to say that is NOT true.
2. No, I do not want numbers, I do not want you jumping on something and getting all irritable over what is NOT there. Do not be so defensive, and stop being such a fan boy, everyone else here is grown up enough not to do so, please do the same. In any case the 772.000 is a guestimate. ZOS wont release numbers until the 6 month point, or the 1 year point.
In any case. If you want to give actual numbers how many are subscribed to that facebook page, knowing that figure would shed light on if 30 is good or bad, depending on the amount of facebook subscribers there are.

Ok want facebook numbers? 1,872,286 likes not sure how thats proof of anything but there you go. The fact is the game keeps growing and getting more players with every patch. People where predicting its doom since it was announced. Quit worrying and just enjoy it. If it fails it fails nothing we can do about it. Get into the game, play it and enjoy.
There are some big games coming out in the next couple of months...
Destiny
Sims 4
Assassins Creed 4
Sid Meiers Civilisation - Beyond Earth
COD
Alien Isolation
That's just a few of the bigger names from a list comprising of over 40 titles.
And yet Zenimax seem to have little interest in putting out content to hold onto their solo players?
For the MMO purists -
Warlords of Draenor (WoW) - expansion coming soon
RIFT 2.8 - expansion just released
Wildstar - just released
Star Citizen - coming soon
Everquest Next - coming soon
Not to mention new content from GW2, SWTOR, EVE Online, Secret World, LoTR
That's a hell of a lot of games and content all vying for our hard earned cash. There are 2 titles there that I am definitely going to buy, maybe they will get my subs allocation (we'll have to wait and see).
Either way its a lot of competition for ESO and dishing out content after content for one player group while ignoring the others won't help their cause. Neither will this repeatable launching of updates that are bugged to hell !
Maybe this will affect Zenimax subs, maybe it won't. Either way, with the current speed and regularity companies are pushing out games and content Zenimax need to be doing something special to hold onto out loyalty... and our cash !

You do know that facebook likes are provided by companies (similar to gold farms) that employ people just to sit and click likes all day? That's why big companies pay so much to facebook in order for them to promote their content !

The only game coming this year that will attractive me is DA3, however, I will still be subscribed to and playing ESO at the same time. In fact, WoW too. Course being retired makes this a lot easier.
Why do the solo players keep forgetting about the whole Orsinium thing that's coming up?

Why does FF14 have less likes than the number subbed? why does Wildstart have only 250k likes which was less than when they released 3 months ago?

That was also before the steam sale which saw yet another influx of players. I have seen more "Im coming back" posts in the past month vs the "I Quit" posts. This past content also another small influx and a lot of people I have seen talking are waiting for the justice system and then will be coming back. So get your panties out of that knot and quit worrying.
You do know that facebook likes are provided by companies (similar to gold farms) that employ people just to sit and click likes all day? That's why big companies pay so much to facebook in order for them to promote their content !
First off I wasn't using it as proof, he wanted the numbers I gave it to him. Second if thats true then why does WoW have less likes than the number of people subbed. Why does FF14 have less likes than the number subbed? why does Wildstart have only 250k likes which was less than when they released 3 months ago?

WoW already had millions of subscribers before Facebook even existed...lol
Also if you took note of ESOs numbers we had most of those before the game was even released into open Beta.
Funny thing is... after the game launched the number of subs is still no where near as many as ESOs facebook likes ! ? (now what does that say?)

The only thing I said was that we had enough players to be successful then we had an influx after the steam sale, we had an influx after the last patch, and there is still a demand for the console release which will bring in more people yet again.

Only success is a variable for every person. For you, success could be the game has enough active subs to continue, and to supply future content. Yet for another, it could be they would see success as there are so many people the super-servers struggle to cope with the amount, that millions are playing. That ZOS are considering more servers because of this. I am sure, ideal success for the top people at that company is exactly that millions are subbed.
I say this just to play the devils advocate. Please take it as such. :P
Not everyone stays subbed to an MMO even if they're enjoying it. They drop the subs for a month or two to play a new game they want to try out and then come back later. The problem isn't necessarily people leaving its whether or not they'll want to come back. Right now there are a lot of game updates, new features, and new faction quests in the pipeline. That should be a good pull to get people to come back in.

Well we will never have millions of subs. Aside from WoW no MMO will ever have millions of subs. WoW Developers were shocked that WoW got popular and even said they will never be able to do it again. Even the Wildstar devs said that if you even keep 35% of your playerbase at launch you did well. Being a Megaserver we will never see more actually get added. but if 300-400k is considered a success for a sub based MMo and we have 772k (even more than that now I'm sure) Then I would have to say profit=success and 11 million a month is not considered doomed or even close to being a failure.

It could just be me, thinking its 1999 again, and I am that idealistic naïve young fool, but why, if you love something, and want it to succeed and had a subscription would you cast it aside because you wont be playing for a month or two?
