Need to limit FPS, but how ???

Hi everyone
I`m playing on a late 2013 MacBook Pro with iris pro 1024 graphics, but my cooler can`t hold the temperature down. After 10 Minutes everything gets very very hot. Usually the only and best solution is cutting down the fps. Most of the games out there has a limiter, but this doesn`t !
I tried to manipulate the the SET MinFrameTime.2 line in the usersettings, but it does not work. Putting it on minimum in graphics settings it produces 100+ fps.
Vync is still too high. I`m used to play on 20-25 fps, and this works good for me, and for the MacBook. Fan is usually off.
What else can I do ? Any suggestions very welcome ! Right now this game is just not playable for me.

✭✭There isn't an obvious, or documented, option to throttle frame rates, I'm sorry. I'd welcome one, too.
Even on an iMac, there are situations (e.g. character creation screen) where the FPS shoots up and the fans run wild. I'd suggest giving them some /feedback (in-game chat command) in this regard; I will certainly do so next time I'm on.0 -
This won't help limit frame rates, but check out smcFanControl and Temperature Monitor.
I'm not sure playing in a lower resolution would help with the heat problem but it's worth a try if you haven't already. Though, I mainly play in lower res on my old 2010 iMac just so I can get decent frame rates
On the character selection screen my cpu temp gets up to 120F and gpu 160F, but with all fans on max those temps drop to 100F/125F. This is in a room that's about 77F with settings at high/medium.0 -
KaruizawaSoul ShrivenThank you guys for your replies. So the only way to keep the temperature down is cooling the macbook with extra fans and so on. Thats not working for me, cause I like to play in my office, in bed or on the sofa.
What I do not understand, why the changed SET MinFrameTime does not change anything ?? There are so many threads about it.
I changed mine to this:
SET PlayerKillCamera "1"
SET LastMonsterKillCamera "1"
SET MinFrameTime.2 "0.05000000"
SET ParticlesEnabled "1"
SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
Am I doing something wrong ? Do I need to change anything else ?

Keep in mind that the UserSettings.txt file is shared between platforms, so there are very probably options that get honored on one, and ignored on the other. Windows uses an entirely different rendering engine with Direct3D, while on OS X OpenGL is used.0
