Lets take a look at the Cyrodill reward system.
The rewards in Cyrodill can be divided in 3 groups:
Personal Rewards
- Experience (VP/XP): not enough as of now, but will be boosted with the introduction of update 3 and will be usefull to progress in the upcoming champion system.
- Alliance Points (AP): used to be elegible for emperorship, buy siege equipment or buy PvP sets.
- Secret equipment containers: random green gear with the chance of getting a PvP set piece.
- Ranks: each rank grants a skill point and a tittle.
Overall rewards here look balanced enough with the exception of the containers, they could have a small chance to yield yellow, purple or blue loot to even things a bit with PvE drops and become usefull to gather upgrade materials at least.
Guild Rewards
- Kiosk: a feature coming with update 3 that will allow guilds owning a keep to plant a kiosk and sell their goods to the whole faction.
Well that is a little bit "meh" and does not encourage guilds enough to own a keep.
Rewards for guilds owning a keep could definitely see an upgrade some way, maybe in the form of special chests for guild members, delivered after a set X amount of time holding the said keep. (Ragnarok online style if you played WoEs).
Rewards for guilds performing well really need improvement, the kiosk is not enough.
Faction Rewards
- Stat Buffs: the better your faction performs the better the buffs get. The buffs carry over outside of Cyrodill and are usefull both for PvP & PvE.
- End of Campaign: when a campaign ends, participating players are rewarded with a variable amount of gold depending on the position achieved by your faction (1st, 2nd or 3rd place) and your personal AP score for that campaign.
Getting about 60k gold for playing in the winer faction after 90 days is just ridiculous.
With the upcoming campaign changes, the longest campaign will last for 30 days, that would mean what, 20k gold? Thats simple not enough for 30 days efforts, could be increased x3 at the very least or offer an alternate reward.
TLTR: Cyrodill is fun, but after some time you want it to be both fun and rewarding, and rewards could be improved to encourage players and guilds to participate and try to win.
Thougths? Ideas?
