Just as long as pve provisioners/collectors don't get mixed up in this crap just because we want that purple motif marked "STEAL". I think I'll now level my DK's butt up to town-farm before the "justice system" is implemented.

But we'll be restricted to gathering only outside of town? That sucks, in an MMO computer game. One of the most boring things about WoW is that there is nothing to loot besides dead bodies. TI isn't much better, with their one-shot chests that give one crappy token that no one needs.

And what of folks with auto-loot on? I guess Auto-loot is now a thing of the past. Might as well get rid of it.

This crap should have been left to specially-tagged fluff/trash townie NPCs, don't include containers of any sort, except for those right by the killable/robbable NPC's feet.

That would really suck if you managed to find a purple recipe or motif, only to get popped by a guard right after. But then too, I'm sure there will be Safe Zones to loot from (ie, guilds you're a member of, townhall or castles you've saved/liberated through quest objectives, etc..)

Bull. I'll believe it when I see it. And I'm not into PvP unless there's nothing left to do.

I was OK with the recipe/motif drop to combat bots; I'm not into gimping it just because epeeners want their damn world pvp, and *** think a justice system is good in a computer game. It sucks, people, it really sucks. There's no way a merchant in Morrowind should be able to peek in my pockets to see I have moon sugar (and then refuse to deal with me) unless it smells to high heaven. And I know how to disguise smells, so should my shady Khajit. And I don't think moon sugar should smell overmuch.

Yeah, I am pretty much against the justice system as proposed.

It sounds like just another honey pot for people that like to grief others for attention, just like monkeys in the bank.

a "escape from prison" (or be rescued, since we're in a MMO) like we have on single-player TES games would be awesome... :D

And for everyone complaining about the justice system... well, stop (or whatever) - this is elder scrolls, after all (or supposed to be, at least) so, actually, this should've been there from start... Don't come whining as if it was some change made against you.

Besides, everyone who played Ultima Online long ago (good times, like T2A) knows how fun this is going to be lol

Depends how you look at it. Part of the fun is risk vs reward. When you die in the game there are penalties that are not "fun" but it keeps the game interesting. A few minutes in the stocks or some kind of mini game would just add to the fun imo. Remember choices had to be made to end up looking like a criminal in the first place.

    1) This is pretty much exactly how other ES games do it, which is a win IMO.
    2) My understanding from the limited information available is that you steal if you sneak.
    3) All I saw in the footage was white provisioning mats. Until we know otherwise it is possible that Motifs (for example) don't count as "stolen".

Personally, I'm more concerned about someone killing NPCs that are necessary - quest NPCs, merchants etc. I don't mind them getting killed as long as there's a plan in place to get around it.

Oh come now. Surely you can see the difference and that this argument you are making to dismiss anyone that doesn't like the idea of griefers killing NPC's is totally flawed.

Let me break it down for you. Every other Elder Scrolls game has been a SOLO, offline game.

That means if I choose to commit a crime or kill some NPC, that is MY CHOICE, and I accept the consequences to my game.

In an online game I have NO CHOICE, and people will just go around slaughtering everything that talks just to grief people.

That sounds like total fail to me.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for a justice system. I think elements of it could be very cool if executed correctly. but allowing bored griefers another way to *** people off by killing all the atmospheric NPC's the second they spawn is just a really dumb idea.

Yeah you need to sneak... but judging by previous TES games... the need to sneak is only in certain areas. There are some areas where you're granted free reign to grab whatever you want. Such as areas in your guilds, or castles where the local government has granted you the privilege. Not everything is only acquired through theft.

Of course this won't be the case. They are going to make NPC's independent of each person's client. So, for example, if I go into town and kill all the NPC's then from that point on, those NPC's will not exist in my game.

This won't impact anybody else's game, as the NPC's will be "instanced" to each person's play through. No one will be able to grief anyone else by killing all of the NPC's, vendors, quest givers, guards, etc.

But, your personal bounty will be known to everyone else, and when it gets high enough, you will be flagged for execution. I think it's a fun system that adds a whole other layer of complexity to the game.
