Hi! I'm the only officer of a trade guild in which the guild master has been offline for several weeks. Is it possible at this time for a GM to allow me to take over the role of the guild master?

Maybe he is on vacation? In my oppionion, people should be allowed be away from the game for as long as they want, without risk of loosing anything.

He's not losing anything. As long as the "new" guild master is still active when the old one comes back online, the title can be given back to him.

I agree with you Gangmark, but i need to ask to be ready to have some options or course of action should this state persist for a few more weeks.

If you disappear without a word, you can't expect everyone else to accept it and just let the guild stay in a limbo for god knows how long. A guildmaster is responsible for his or her guild. If they leave for a while, they should inform the guild - or at least the officers - and maybe even appoint a new temporary guildmaster in their absence.

I don't know what happened to the guild in question, but there definitely should be a way to solve the problem of a guildmaster missing for a long time.

Depending on what permissions you give your officers, guilds can effectively run without a leader. As one of the 'officers' in the trade guild I belong to, the only permission I don't have is the 'Edit About us'.

What permissions are you missing that mean you can't 'lead' the guild?

Well, if you aren't missing any vital permissions at the moment, coupled with the fact that we can be in multiple guilds, then an inactive guild leader isn't quite the issue it is in other games. You can make your own guild, invite members from the old guild, then move the bank across.

In other games players manage moves like this all the time and they don't have the advantage that we have of being able to be in two places at once.

I don't particularly agree with Gangmark that leaders should be able to go away for as long as they want without any consequences, by the way, but if you are the only officer in a traders guild then it wasn't being managed very well anyway. You would be better off rebuilding and then you won't have to rely on anyone else.

Hopefully one day there will be a semi-automated system to deal with people who just disappear, but I think support have enough to deal with at the moment. They don't need to deal with issues that players in a social game can resolve themselves.

For your information, i've had a chat with a CSR about the matter: as it happens with other MMORPGS, no action is taken before 30 days have passed. Only then Zenimax will be allowed to take action over guildmasters.
