    100% agree.
These are all perks and should not be available any other way. Otherwise they are no longer perks.

They are perks because people got them day 1 of their game, for money or a promotion or whatever, where we would have to earn them in the game.

Based on the OP's request, for ZOS to live up to this statement, they would need to implement any items available in the cash shop or through any other paid means as quest rewards ingame. This could be implemented at any point within the lifespan of ESO before it can be considered a lie.
Most likely all presently available pets or some variation of, will be available either ingame or through the cash shop or both.

Yup, that's the way I feel. I'd like to go back to the point in gaming where, for my $15 a month, that meant I got 100% of the game.

Don't even get me started on that. Those days are long gone and they aren't ever coming back. Just be glad you wont be gaming in 50 years. Those poor saps will probably have to sell their blood just to get the latest DLC.

Hm, i think everyone knows the Mechanic that Humans tells a lot to get or reach something . Some act silly and the others offer their Emotions and Wishes as a Package off Logic and Fairness. But all want something.

Zenimax wants something too, they want to sell something to earn Money and support the Game. Now they head into that Direction, that they offer some special Items in their Shop/Steam. As long as this Items are only Cosmetics, like Pets and Mounts or Special Skins/Costumes, it is ok for me.

If they ever offer really important Things like Weapons or Armor with better Stats, i will think about to leave this Game.

If they offer the Option to all Players, that they can earn this Items Ingame through playing, they will lose many Buyers for the Shop.

Some Players act likes Dagobert Ducks and wont buy anything without Discussing the Price/Reason of everything, only see their own Improvement. Some couldn`t buy something because they haven`t more Money they can use but this is ok, they don`t need it to reach the Maxlevel.

So, Zenimax has wrote this and that but for me it is important that this Game will be running on a long Sight. Is it so important to get all the cosmetic Items for free or for Playtime, couldn`t you play the Coregame then? Is this more important than support this Game, so we can play this as long as we can?

Ok, i see some Players won`t stop pointing to the Contract they have with Zenimax and call them acting unfair. They try to offer Logical Arguments for their personal Sight, try to get their Rights. I don`t know how much Money Zenimax earns with their Game but i hope it is enough to support this Game for a long Time.

If this Game ever dies because they don`t have enough Money, i will Wave to the Players who want all to get for Free/Gametime because they mean it is their Right to have it. You are not a good Teamplayer Sir, no you aren`t.

@Blackwidow‌ , don't bother with these guys. None of Imperial edition owners would ever admit that it was a paywall, selling a race - which is very inseparable concept of the gameplay, not to mention the lore - to people who pay more. Its just human psychology, they are feeling "special" that way :)

And although the doggie is nothing special, it technically is paywall as well. But to attract a new flow of players, game publishers are known to go to such extents. Happened in Rift as well: when it was sub-based, Korean subs were getting tiger mount, or something like that. And months later, Trion EU put that mount for real money purchase, all this happened ages before F2P kicked in. Its wrong, but it is business.

As long as these things ain't anything big and valuable from gameplay/story/lore perspective, I personally can live without them. Except what ZOS did since day-minus-60 wasn't that "small".

I think if they just add all promotional content into the store it would be fine.

If you look right now gaining access to any promo content isn't possible outside of getting old keys (eventually these will all be used up) by adding the content to the store at a cost they give everyone no matter when or how they join ESO access to use that content. The trade off is that those not taking part in a promotion have to pay for the content at a reasonable price.

Posted this a few places now but this is my vision of their store.

    Standard Edition Game £50
    Imperial Edition Game £70
    Imperial Edition Upgrade £20
    Store Mount £10
Explorers Pack £5 (pre-orders received this free as a promotion)
Monkey Pet £2 (Beta players received this free as a promotion)
Guar Pet £2 (Guar plushy purchasers received this as a free promotion)
Whiterun Wolf Pet £2 (Steam promotional purchases received this as a free promotion)

    No point in wasting time.

It may revolve around just a simple dog. As much as I like the dog, what pisses me off is the following.

I've waited years for the game, reading every update/news.
I joined beta, pre-ordered the game without second thoughts.
I paid the full game price of Imperial Edition, only because I'm always travelling and I don't think they can send me the Collector's.
I paid monthly for a broken game that is constantly updated with bugs, with some bugs dated back to beta yet still persists. Not forgetting the FPS issue that still lingers, and the new data load issues with missing characters.

    Yet, we held on.

And now they release the game on Steam, half priced, and comes with a limited edition item for the new comers.

I don't think that's a very smart marketing move for a product that would benefit more from focusing on keeping current customers rather than trying to fight with the other truly AAA products for market share.

Instead of working on fixing the game, they slashed the price, share the profits with Steam and give a limited edition item.

If you feel that it's a very brilliant move, please take my advise, don't go into politics or business or heck, anything that involves basic human interaction.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

No there isn't. So you can buy a horse using real money. You can still buy a horse in game with gold. No paywall there.
On that note, show me where you can earn the right to play as an Imperial in-game. Or get the special mudcrab pet.

That is an imperial edition feature. there are other games that have different style of games available. Which is nothing new so is still not a paywall.

Imperials are behind a paywall. You have to upgrade to Imperial Edition to play as one. You pay to upgrade. Which means you pay money to access a feature of the game.

That is the definition of a paywall. If you're struggling with this concept, that's on you.

Although you are technically correct that example is a stretch. Better examples of what paywalls truly mean is if I couldn't access Craglorn without paying $10 to unlock it. Or if I had the option to purchase off the game store Trial gear without ever having to step foot into a Trial then I'd have access to top tier gear for cash instead of effort.

What is wrong with wanting to earn items in the game that can be sold in the game store?

    Absolutely nothing.

Except...there's nothing currently IN the store that you cannot get in the game.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

There is still no paywall. Other games have a normal copy and a collectors copy. ESO does too. Other games give you extra if you buy the collectors copy. I know this cause I bought the collector copies for GW and the expansions. I got extra stuff that those that only bought the normal copy didn't get.

Here in ESO it is the same thing. I know what paywalls are, I know what perks are. I ain't some newbie to MMOs.

How can I buy the imperial horse without buying it in the store?

There will be a white dog I can not earn in the game, but people are getting it with real cash.

So, again, I will ask a simple question, which you seem to be incapable of answering.

What is wrong with having 100% access to all ingame items, that you can get from real cash, by earning them in the game?

I don't know an MMO that doesn't have optional vanity features in their store.

As long its not like at GW2 or SWTOR where you must pay to have access to additional bank slots, pvp zones or quest lines I am fine with a store.

Horses, pets don't have an actual impact on the game or me.

I love how you guys want to argue about what is a pay gate or what is a perk or any other B.S. but you won't actually explain why my suggestion is a bad idea.

You just came here to fight. You really don't care about the subject, do you?

What is wrong with the option to earn items in the game that can be gained through money purchases?

It is not a hard question, but you all want to avoid it and and just argue semantics.

    ^This.

Apparently this is the trend of the ESO forums. Insightful posts and people who actually discuss the improvement of product and services dwindle by the day. The endless ramblings and trolls who disregard other's feedback, calling it "whining" is a sign of how hopeless this forum has become.

Every negative feedback is now a "whine" or "cry", without proper assessment or even a simple attempt to comprehend of the topic.
