The best thing ZO can do is nothing.

Let the people who are truly upset about this throw a fit on the forums this weekend. Then let them move on to throwing a fit about whatever perceived injustice come next.

Giving them anything means that the squeaky wheel really does get the grease, and that's a horrible way to run a company.

    Talk about first world problems.

Everything related to MMO's is a first world problem, from the subscription fee to class balance to Cyrodil-Lag to Puppygate. Everything.

If nothing in any MMO has ever caused you upset or anger, then you are an unusually level-headed person. Because almost everyone can find some aspect of a game that raises their hackles.

Telling others which of these issues are allowed to upset them will never convince anyone.

Or a somewhat emotionally stable adult.

Have I been irritated by some design decisions in games? Sure.
Angered? No. Anger is an emotion that should be reserved for important things.

Do new buyers of an existing game do so because of some exclusive deal that only they get?

No, they buy the game because they want to play the game. Offering the Pet to everyone would not have hurt the new sales stream...

Citation needed. If new buyers are only buying because they want to play the game, why hadn't they bought the game already? Presumably ZOS has some kind of marketing data indicating that this promotion will, in fact, attract buyers, or they wouldn't be bothering; they may be wrong, but they obviously have some reason to believe it.

Unfortunately it looks like they are caving, which means we can look forward to:

    1. Whah!!! They are giving new players 5 extra inventory slots for free.
    2. Whah!!! They added a new horse that costs too much, I WANT IT!!! I DESERVE IT!!!
    3. Whah!!! I don't want people to have armor colors that annoy me!!! (Oh wait, that one is already happening)

The fix is simple. Let the players with a vanity complex cry themselves out. It's astonishing to me how many people on this forum don't know what vanity is, or that it's poor form to act in a vain manner. (despite the term Vanity even being included in the object in question)

While I'd like to have one, I feel this is no different than when any other game offers different perks depending on what store you purchased it from, so its not a big deal, and doesn't require a "fix"

The Wolfhound Crisis is a wonderful title, but I don't think it truly captures this moment. Perhaps: dogmageddon, caninecaust or pupcalypse.

I jest, but this debate show how passionate we are about ESO. Hope they offer both Guar and Wolfhound vanity pets in the cash shop soon.

The wolfhound crisis...how did you even came up with this name? Its just a useless pet that does nothing but clutter ur inventory. There is no issue. They are bringin in new people by offering them unique reward that won't give them advantage but will allow them to stand out. Thats is a good move in my opinion.

P.S. Sorry i didn't read whole wall of text but i'm under the impression that OP is unhappy cuz he didn't recieve a dog so he cancelled his sub and quit the game cuz he cant play the way he want and the game will die tomorrow anyway. My apologies If i'm wrong.

    Why post at all?

    You forgot mine:

    4. WAH!!! I don't want to have to PvP or become a vampire or werewolf to access dyes. I want them to be available for purchase through the store.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

This is hilarious, I can't believe people are throwing their toys out of the pram over a vanity pet in a game.

Emotional age anyway. I shudder to think about the actual age of some of the people screaming.

It's very simple: Give the white wolf to current imperial edition owners. Why does it have to be a Steam exclusive? There's absolutely no way for any current players to ever obtain the white wolf, and current imperial edition owners received less that a Steam imperial edition owner will (I'm talking digital versions; I didn't buy the physical edition).

That's unacceptable. It's not unlike this:

And yet... You're arguments toward equality denies Non-Imperial edition players. I guess elitism is only criticizable to your personal social status. Anybody lower be damned.

@AlienDiplomat "The Wolfhound Crisis" title was just something I put up there becasue it sounded catchy, and this not a place to discuss real life stuff, this is a place to discuss video game stuff, so in a virtual world where reality is not necessarily invited to the party, it the title makes sense.

@DenverRalphy, well, I somewhat see where all this Imperial Edition people get the wolfhound pet type of stuff comes from, and even I said it for this reason.

People who buy the Imperial Edition on steam get the wolfhound pet, so why shouldn't those who already paid the $70-$120 not get it. The reason why non-imperial edition people would not get it is because they don't even have the Imperial Edition.

The Whiterun Wolfhound is considered an Imperial Edition perk in a sense, so those with the Imperial Edition only, in a sense, should have access to it, and not those who do not have the Imperial Edition.

I believe that is why people are saying that only I.E. people should have it.

Anyone who doesn't have the imperial edition can upgrade to it, and standard Steam editions don't come with the wolf, so no you're wrong.
