Getting stuck in combat -- can attack and cast spells, but can't move

I can cast spells, attack, swap weapons, but just can't move. I don't see any debuff icons up and clicking both mouse buttons doesn't break it. Is this some sort of unbreakable partial CC?

Can you tell us a bit more about the situation in which you encountered this issue? Was this a one-time occurrence, or is it something that happens often?

I had this happen to me for the first time today. I was in one of the instances in Thizzrini Arena and had just killed one of the elites for a quest. I couldn't move at all but my keyboard was otherwise working fine (I could cast, etc....). I had to relog to fix it and it was fine after that.

It happened to me yesterday. I was just questing in Deshaan (V2 content), killed some quest target, and in the middle of the fight, realized my arrow keys stopped responding. After the fight was over, I was just standing there unable to move...trying to dodge forward would do nothing either. A /reloadui did nothing. Solved it by exiting the game, logging back in, and was able to move again. After the event was over, I vaguely remembered it happening one other time too, but I couldn't even tell you if it was from a week or a month ago...I guess at the time it was a non-issue so it wasn't worth remembering.

The same thing has happened to me as well, not just once, several times when I was in Cold Harbour. The only way I could move again was logging out and back in.

I had it several times when using vulcanic rune or some other spell where you need to point an area. If you get interuptet while in the animation of this sort of skill you get stuck but can attack. just use the skill again and you should again be able to move

I regularly get this when using a bow.
when i fully draw the bow i can move again, but if I let the Arrow go, I'm stuck.
I have found that I can get out of this by drawing the bow and then roll.
Very anoying.

This^^, I found out about this from another thread several weeks ago, I had, had this happen to me more and more frequently...... the getting 'rooted' to the spot bit!

In my case the culprit is Volcanic Rune but I believe there are other skills that will produce this effect. I seem to remember that it was suggested any 'ground' based abilities could cause this, i.e. a skill you fire at the ground. If the skill is interrupted or does not complete properly the result is you get stuck to the ground but can still use other abilities, such as looting, attacking etc.

The cure is as simple as, just fire off the offending skill again and you can immediately move normally. I still get this bug fairly often but the cure always works, hope it helps for you OP

I was in Eastmarch doing the vet level version of the arena quest where you fight the big Nord chick and several adds. I forget the quest name. But this has happened to me before in other areas. I hadn't seen it in a while and before I chalked it up to some form of CC that I didn't understand.

I had this bug yesterday often while fighting (dual wield) against three human enemys. At some point I can't move without a reason. But only for some seconds. There was no visual effect, so I think it was no stun. This happened to me after using Blinding Flurry or Blood Craze. Didn't know exactly.

Something like this happens to me lately as well, often however I can still move, cast spells, but cannot light/heavy attack, block or such. It seems to be different every time but the main point is that certain actions become completely impossible to do. This time it was a bit worse since it was in a boss fight in AA, not exactly fun when your DPS is lowered by 200-300 because you can't light attack between casts. It just stayed this way for a couple of minutes and then magically worked again. Been having these issues a lot since 1.4.

I've had the opposite; I can move, I hear the sounds of using my weapon, but the animation is stuck. The weapon is frozen mid-swing. If I use it, I can hear the swing, but what I'm seeing doesn't change. This is first person view.
