[SOLVED]Launcher fails to run (Fresh install)

Hello,

I bought a new PC and installed windows 7 pro 64 bit. It is completely updated. Everything is running fine.

I have played Quake Live, Civilization V, Age of Wonders III and X-Rebirth with no issues.

Today I tried to install ESO. The installer seems to run fine. I got the icon on the desktop. But the launcher just silently fails. It shows the icon in the tray for a few seconds then disappear.

I tried to rerun the installer using "run as admin" and checked install DirectX (was pre checked) and the VC 2010 dist (was unchecked). I restarted the PC a few times. The launcher still just dies.

I am enclosing the DxDiag files (both 32 and 64 bit).

Thank you,
Norcus

Is there an exception for TESO in your firewall and anti-virus? You would have had to add it.

Run as admin, run in Compatibility mode for windows XP service pack 2, Clean boot (Google it), reinstall.

None of the above works. The launcher never launches, it appears in the system tray for a few seconds then silently dies. The eso.exe does not yet exist on my PC since the launcher has not started downloading the game.

After uninstalling a number of Asus programs I got it to work. I uninstalled the ASUS programs: KeyBot, Sonic Radar, Gamefirst, GPU Tweak and RAM Disk.

Keybot and Sonic Radar are basically cheat programs. It's possible they are blacklisted by the launcher and that was your issue. Interesting to know.

I believe the problem was caused by an incompatibility between one or more of the Asus programs and nvidia and/or directx.

Keybot is nothing more than a macro program, and is no more a cheat than any logitech gaming peripheral.

Sonic Radar, however, might be an attempt at a cheat. I tested it with Quake Live and it did reveal presence and direction of entities in front of me I would not otherwise have noticed or pinpointed. But it could not tell the difference between sounds made by friends and foes.
