Not only that it would also help if we at least have the same build as the life server or the one that needs to be tested. I mean how can you test stuff if the build is 3 behind the life build.
I've been mentioning how limited and useless the templates were since they opened the test server to anyone with an account. Only once have they changed it, and that was basically just to update it from v9 to v12.
They are relying on their in house testing to find these bugs and it hasn't worked yet.
My two existing PTS characters are still available. My VR5 EP Fungal Grotto character created with an earlier template has been promoted with a VR10 Hero achievement. It also had new uncommitted Skill points, although all Soul Gems and buff potions are gone. It still has the same weapons and armor listed in Inventory.
My Level 1 toon, last played in starting Cold Harbour, I did not test, so cannot comment.
BTW: My PTS guild TESG-VR still exists, although now with only one member -- me as the Guildmaster. I cannot test Guild Extravaganza features until I rebuild my Guild Roster.

I realy am dissapointed that we are not good enough for testing everything, it is clear that the in house testing that has been done so far sometimes does not find everything.
Why not give your players who want to help out a chance. What do you think will go wrong if we test more? I just don't get it. We have been pointing out things from the start of the pts opening and we get no feedback and frankly i am starting to wonder if i should go on with testing as it seems we are not important to them.
I certainly hope we are not only important, but that our /bug reports are seen and acted upon.
I know I have been hammering out quite a few on the PTS so far, including many having to do with the new Dye station and a Very long one having to do with isolating and solving the dreaded FPS / "GPU underuse" issues.
I used to do QA for a software company quite some time back.
If these reports are just going into the "round file" by someones desk, I'll just stop writing them altogether.
I'd stop jumping onto the PTS as well ... no sense doing this at all if they think scripts written by an intimately familiar (read as: overly familiar) QA team can even *find* these bugs, let alone give a decent report, including Expected behavior, Actual behavior + Replication rundown.
I don't screw around when it comes to these reports. I hope the other end takes them seriously.
There are still no official words from them as to if they will support those of us wanting to help (and I hope that the reports I send are being looked at by someone)
and no word on if we will get the sort of templates and PTS only craft item npr dispensers we need to do the job properly...
At this point I have to say it is looking less and less likely but I continue to hope
The other templates are just for some show or press event only trials is working (if you can call it that with no support of crafting or pvt testing enabled for it)
They weren't clear when they made this thread. All they did was enhance the trials template, the other templates are for conventions such as the quakecon convention they just had.
They are not for regular PTS use and why they're still on the PTS is anyone's best guess. It's confusing to players when they say templates as in plural but really only have one usable template on the test server.
They need to get rid of the templates for the conventions or open them up to everyone so we can test things properly. There needs to be a crafting template for all professions, traits, along with an achievement template for all the dye combinations. They should also let you create a test guild tabard no matter what.

Patch 1.3.1: I can now successfully use the Trials Template. As many others mention the E3 templates are only for ZOS game demos like QuakeCon, not PTS testers.
The Trials Template creates a Daggerfall Covenant VR12 character using ONLY the three DC races. The current trial is still Craglorn. No templates for EP or AD, and "play as any race" features like Imperial are disabled.
1.3.1 also improved frame rates for me. YMMV, but definitely an improvement. Now on to testing Guild Extravaganza, Armor Dyes, and submitting my quota of /bug reports.

Not 100% on the Trails Template, but just like the on the main servers, you will have to complete the Coldharbor Tutorial at least once.
Also, when you are in creation mode, check the pull down box at the top left corner to select your template. "NONE" will be a normal run through from the beginning, which the default template.
To clarify a little further, logged in to the PTS Server, on the Character Creation screen if you just use the main screen to create a character, this will be Level 1 and arrive in the Wailing Prison.
To create a VR12 character, at the top left of the Character Creator screen you will find a pull-down menu. On that menu you will find a Trials Template and three "E3 Templates".
Select the Trails Template then customize your character. The Trials Template creates a VR12 character currently in Craglorn.
Note: The E3 Templates are reserved for ZOS use for special demonstrations and game demos. The E3 Templates are not accessible to general PTS testers.
